KH- Fast Food Madness!

"Well then..." the doctor state with a smile. "I really don't see any reason why we need to keep you here longer. You're free to go now." He looked down at Kairi, the smile staying on his face.

 

Kairi hesitated before returning his smile. She didn't want to be out when the boys were still in. Kairi'd rather be in bed with them than be the healthy one. That's the way it had always been...

 

The man smiled and walked towards the door, stopping before he made his exit. "I'll be back later to check up on your friends," he told Kairi. "Hopefully I'll catch them awake for once." He gave her a wink before leaving.

 

Kairi nodded slightly as he left. Then she glanced Sora and Roxas' way. It wasn't fair to them...that she got to leave. Kairi sat there for a second, staring down at her crossed ankles for a moment.

 

Sora's breathing was even as he slept deeply, completely unaware of what had just happened.

 

Kairi bit her lip. If Sora had heard it, he would've insisted that she should go. That's the way Sora was, putting others before himself. So Kairi slowly got up and went to the cabinet in the big room, finding her clothes inside. She grabbed them and shut the cabinet doors quietly before walking to the door. She silently opened the door and slipped away, going to change out of her hideous hospital gown.

 

Sora's chest rose as he inhaled and fell as he exhaled, feeling relaxed during his long sleep.

 

After getting to the bathroom and changing, Kairi walked back to the hospital room and entered quietly. She put her hands against her front pockets and felt something in one of them. Kairi pulled it out and sighed in relief. It was her necklace. Kairi put it around her neck and hooked it, her fingers finding the outlines of the golden heart. She smiled as she looked down at it, happy that she hadn't lost it or anything.

 

Sora shift in his sleep, moving his head to a different part of his pillow.

 

Kairi found a chair next to the door and moved it to the space between Roxas and Sora's beds. She sat down and bit her lip as she stared down at the floor. She hated being the one that got to get out first. It was unfair.

 

A breath quietly exit Sora's lips as he put a hand on his pillow, starting to wake up from his deep sleep.

 

Kairi folded one of her hands over the other and lowered her head, closing her eyes. This wasn't fair to Roxas or Sora at all. She shouldn't be the one out first.

 

Sora rolled over onto his back and put a hand to his face, brushing away a strand of hair that was bothering him.

 

Kairi looked up, her lips parted slightly at the sudden movement. Sora was waking up, but Roxas wasn't. Kairi glanced over at him. That boy slept a lot. He was hardly ever awake.

 

Sora sighed softly and let his hand fall back down to his side, his head turning towards Roxas as it rest on the flat pillow.

 

Kairi turned her head to look at Sora. If his arm wasn't in a cast, she would hold his hand. But she didn't want to cause him pain, so she didn't move.

 

Sora opened his eyes a crack and noticed that the sky outside was pretty dark, almost like the sun was just setting. But something else caught his eye. Something--or, someone in pink, sitting close to him. He let his eyes drift and saw Kairi looking at him. He shot her a confused, dazed look.

 

Kairi smiled softly at Sora. Even though she didn't feel like smiling, she did anyway, for his sake.

 

"Did I...miss something?" Sora asked groggily, feeling confused. What was going on here?

 

"Just my release," Kairi said softly and a bit sadly. But she tried to cover up the sadness the best she could.
