"I still...still have your ring..." Sora's words came out soft and slowly. "See?" He lift his hand up a tiny bit, showing that the silver ring was undamaged.

 

Kairi turned her head slightly, seeing the ring on his finger, and then looked down at her chest. She sighed. They must have taken his necklace off when they brought her in.

 

"As long as I have this...I'll be all right." Sora smiled faintly and put his hand back down on the bed. "It'll be okay."

 

Kairi felt a smile come across her lips, along with a few tears. She wanted to feel the same, but she couldn't. The necklace wasn't with her, and she desperately wanted it...needed it.

 

Sora shut his eyes and coughed weakly, some loose flem in his throat.

 

Kairi felt a tear trail down the side of her face as she closed her eyes. Things were finally starting to get better, and then everything shattered.

 

Sora bit his lip and surpressed the coughs; it hurt too much for him to cough so hard. He silently wondered how Roxas was doing.

 

Kairi lifted her right arm, wincing slightly. She found her arm bandaged up, and she set it back down as the thoughts came reeling into her brain again. The pain she had dealt with had been terrible, feeling like her wounds were on fire.

 

Sora let go of the bite and let himself cough harder, unable to stop now. He felt a tear slide down his cheek, not fully showing the pain he felt.

 

Kairi desperately wanted to be next to Sora, actually be next to him. And it upset her that she couldn't do that.

 

After the coughing stopped, Sora took in a few quick breaths, exhausted. He opened his eyes a crack and then felt himself start dozing off again.

 

Kairi stared up at the ceiling and then turned her head toward him. "Sora?"

 

"Mm?" Sora answered, his eyes shut as he rest his head on the pillow.

 

Kairi had been so scared that she had lost him. He was the only person she cared about most in the world, and if she had lost him to the Heartless, she probably would've lost herself. And she only wanted to tell him one thing. "I love you," she said softly.

 

"I love you too," Sora murmed softly, a small smile appearing on his face.

 

Kairi felt a faint smile come across her face as she looked over at him, her eyes softening from the tears that wanted to escape her.

 

Sora opened his eyes and looked over into hers. "And I promise you...everything's gonna be all right."

 

Kairi nodded and smiled slightly. "I believe you," she said before biting her lip.

 

Sora put on a small smile and shut his eyes. "Good," he whispered softly, relieved that she was here with him.

 

Kairi turned her head and stared at the ceiling again. She closed her eyes and tried to relax.
