KH- Fast Food Madness!

Sora shook his head sadly, his smile fading away. "I know," he said softly. He was just thankful that he had fallen and not Kairi.

 

Kairi really wished that they could've just avoided it somehow. She loved winter, of course. But the only reason she disliked it was because of the danger it caused every year.

 

Sora bit his lip and looked down into his lap, wishing he could break through the seriousness that he and Kairi both felt. "Like I said before, I should have just brought my iceskates!" Sora joked, hoping to lighten the mood.

 

Kairi lifted her head and smiled at him softly, giving his hand she was holding a light squeeze. She knew what he was trying to do, and it was sweet of him. But a part of her still realized that he was injured, and she was never happy about that.

 

Sora chuckled softly when he saw her smile. "See? That's better. That's what I love to see." His smile grew a little on his face.

 

Kairi's smile grew slightly. She appreciated his optimism.

 

Sora let his eyes fall back down to the icepack at his side. Feeling regret in the pit of his stomach, he picked it up and gingerly put it back on his arm as he gave Kairi a reassuring smile.

 

Kairi smiled slightly. "Nothing's broken, I hope," she said softly. Another trip to the hospital was something he didn't need.

 

Sora offered her a weak smile. "I don't think anything's broken. It'll probably turn into a nasty bruise, but it could be a lot worse."

 

Kairi nodded in agreement. "It's too bad you had to fall on that side, though."

 

"Yeah," Sora made a small sound of disgust. He had fallen on that side because he hadn't been able to balance himself with only one arm. If he didn't have on the stupid sling, he probably would have been alright. Or at least, not in AS much pain.

 

Kairi bit her lip and looked ahead. She then noticed the presents that were still under the Christmas tree. She'd forgotten all about them until now.

 

Sora shook his head and put aside the icepack. His arm was starting to feel numb from the cold now, and he figured that a break couldn't do too much more damage. "Anyway," Sora said, reaching for his back pocket and pulling out a rectangular shaped box. "Merry Christmas." He smiled at Kairi.

 

Kairi flitted her eyes to Sora, and then to the gift in his hand. Her eyes widened slightly, and then a smile came across her face. She met his eyes with her smile still on her face and then looked at the present, gently taking it from him.

 

Sora smiled as Kairi looked down at the gift. He was so, so sure that she would love it. He would put it on around her neck if he could, but he couldn't use his right arm too well now.

 

Kairi set the gift down in her lap and started to unwrap it. She noticed it looked like it was wrapped professionally, which made it look even nicer. She pulled the wrapping paper away from the box she'd found underneath it and set it on the couch beside her as her eyes stayed locked on the box. She opened the rectangular lid of the box and gasped, her jaw dropping slightly when she saw what it was.

 

Sora's smile grew into a grin as he silently watched her stare at the necklace, pleased by her reaction. It really seemed like she liked it.

 

"Sora..." Kairi said softly, reaching into the box and gently lifting up the necklace. The golden outlines of the heart rested on her fingertips as she held it in her hand. It was so pretty.

 

Sora smiled and silently watched her, hoping that she would also notice the inscription on the lid of the box. It said "You are my light" in fancy gold letters, and then below it it said "Forever." It was 100% true. He just hoped she would notice it before he pointed it out.

 

Kairi caught sight of something out of the corner of her eye. Curious, she flitted her eyes toward it, her violet-blue orbs falling on the lid of the box. She read the gold letters, and her heart skipped a beat, tears forming in her eyes.
