Kairi sighed softly. She started getting the feeling again, and she swallowed so her voice wouldn't be shaky, but she couldn't find her voice anymore.

 

OOC: I'm sorry, I really don't mean to sound rude with all this. Just trying to be honest.

Sora finally rolled over and face the living room now, even though his eyes didn't look up into Kairi's. He wasn't ready for that yet.

 

Kairi bit down on her lip, hard. Breaking down wasn't going to do any good.

 

Sora let his eyes lock onto the Christmas tree. Hmph. Some Christmas.

 

Kairi took in a breath and started again. "I just...got really confused when things turned bad again. I thought everything was going right when we came back from the hospital. But then you were upset. If something's bothering you, Sora, let me know, okay? I need to be let in before I can help out." She looked down at him now, biting her lip.

 

"I told you what was bothering me," Sora finally spoke. He didn't even recognize the voice that came out of his throat. He kept his eyes on the Christmas tree.

 

"I know," Kairi said, looking away and biting her lip.

 

"And there's nothing either of us can do about that," Sora said softly, shutting his eyes halfway as he felt tears reappear.

 

"I wouldn't say that," Kairi said softly, shaking her head slightly.

 

"I've tried so hard to change again..." Sora bit his lip and trailed off.

 

Kairi bit her lip. "The way you act is eventually the person you become," she said softly.

 

Sora blinked. What was she saying? Was she saying that the way he was acting now was who he was going to be for the rest of his life? He felt her words stab his heart and he diverted his sight to the tree again.

 

Kairi crossed her arms and turned around halfway, looking at the tree. "If you act like who you were before, you'll eventually become that person again..."

 

Sora shook his head a little. "I don't remember how to do that anymore," he said softly, shifting underneath his blankets a little bit and sitting up a tiny bit.

 

Kairi bit her lip at his words. That was unfortunate. She was hoping he'd remember his optimism, and use that as a start.

 

Sora sat up, his legs sliding off the couch in front of him and he let his eyes stay on the picture that had been taken at the park last year with him, Roxas and the girls. That had been fun, he remembered that much. How could he have been so carefree. Sora sighed and rest his elbows rest on his knees as he rest his head in his hands.

 

Kairi tucked hair behind her ear and crossed her arms again, staring at the tree. Heh, some Christmas she was having.

 

Sora felt a tear drop from his eye and land on the carpet. He should have known it would end up this way. Kairi was waisting her Christmas Eve with him for no reason. He was completely hopeless. He should have known that he would ruin everything.

 

Kairi looked down at her feet. "I don't want things to be like this between us, Sora."
