KH- Fast Food Madness!

"Oh, I see..." Kairi nodded, her eyes still on the tree. "And Santa...?"

 

"He'll come by," Sora smiled excitedly, letting out a small laugh. "Every year, I try and stay up to see him, but I always miss it somehow."

 

Kairi smiled. "Well, you met him in person, didn't you?" She turned to him. "He probably knows."

 

Sora smiled. "Yeah. I really want to see him again. I haven't seen him since I went to Christmas Town." Sora closed his eyes and thought back to the day when he had met Santa Claus.

 

Kairi smiled and sighed softly, turning her attention back to the ornaments. She held a red ornament in her fingertips, examining it as it stuck to the tree. She saw her reflection in the ball, her surroundings and face red.

 

Sora remembered how excited he had been to Santa for the first time. Riku had told him that he wasn't real, but boy was he wrong! Sora chuckled softly, wondering if Riku still didn't believe in Santa.

 

Kairi turned her head to face Sora again when she heard his adorable chuckle, seeing a smile on his lips. She felt the corners of her lips turn up in a smile of her own as she looked at him. He was obviously remembering something, so she let him be. Kairi put her coat down on the arm of the chair by the tree and put her hands on her hips as she went over to the fireplace, seeing stockings and greenery laced over the mantel.

 

Sora opened his eyes and looked up at the ceiling. He really doubt that he would see Santa this year. Partially because he had never been able to before and because he could hardly stay away for a few hours at a time.

 

Kairi gently took hold of the tip of the stocking with Sora's name on it, admiring it. The red fabric was soft between her fingertips. She let go of it with a smile and examined the pictures on the walls next.

 

Sora blinked and let out a soft sigh. It was alright if he didn't; this Christmas was still going to be great.

 

Kairi came across a picture of somewhere she'd been before, and she recognized the four people in the picture. Kairi picked up the picture, gripping the frame, and examined it. It was a picture of them last year, in Central Park, the day they had the snowball fights and made the snow angels. The two blondes, the redhead, and the spiky-hair brunet all stood in a line. Kairi smiled. Namine and Roxas were next to each other, Roxas's arm around Namine's shoulders and his other arm around Sora's. Sora had his arm around Kairi's shoulders too, while she put her hand on his back. She remembered taking that picture; they had to ask a man with his wife to take the picture for them.

 

Sora turned around and lay his coat on one of the chairs. He silently sat down in one of the chairs and stared at the tree, lost in memories of past Christmases.

 

Kairi giggled at the thought of that day, the memories rushing back. As she stared at the picture, she suddenly started wishing she were there again. And then the picture blurred, and Kairi felt a tear on her cheek. She blinked in surprise, and quickly wiped it away.

 

Sora blinked after his eyes had begun to dry out. He let out a breath and looked down at his feet. It was Christmas Eve, but he wasn't feeling quite in the mood. Something just didn't feel right.

 

Kairi bit her lip and put the picture back. She noticed the silence in the room and turned around curiously. Her eyes found Sora in a chair and she walked over, sitting down in one of the other chairs. She pulled her feet up and curled into a ball, sighing softly as she became more comfortable.

 

Sora smiled softly when Kairi sat down. He was glad that she was comfortable in his house. His smile faded as he looked back at the tree. Would things ever be the same?

 

Kairi stared at the tree, admiring its beauty but also thinking about other things. She wondered if things would be different this year. A lot of things have changed, and unfortunately reality came down pretty hard on everyone in the past month.

 

Sora shook his head a little, shutting his eyes halfway. No. Things could never be the same. That thought made him sad. If they couldn't go back...then, what was next? For all of them?

 

Kairi closed her eyes as she leaned her head agains the back of the chair. She desperately wanted to be a kid again. There weren't any worries back then; only fun and games.

 

Sora opened his eyes and leaned forward in his seat as he gazed at the tree. He would never know the answer to that question, so it was better not to think about it.
