KH- Fast Food Madness!

Sora kept his eyes on Kairi and smiled. She looked really beautiful in this light. But then again, she looked beautiful no matter what. He remembered that the first time he had seen her, he had sworn that she was angel. And she really was his angel.

 

Kairi tucked a few strands of her red hair behind her ear. She didn't remember where she inherited the color from, but it definitely caught people's eyes when she walked around the city. It didn't really surprise her though. She was used to it by now.

Kairi felt someone's eyes on her and she turned her head. Sora was looking at her with a smile. She smiled shyly. "What?" she asked, self-concious.

 

Sora smiled. "Nothing."

Sora turned his head and gazed out the window again. It was strange, seeing New York City covered in snow. He wasn't sure if he felt happy or sad about it, but he was definitly feeling something.

 

Kairi bit her lip, her lips still forming a smile. She looked up a the clock, noticing that it was 10:35. She switched her gaze back out the window.

Sora let his smile fade as he gazed out below. As always, the city was alive and buzzing. He kind of wished he could have been out there, but he realized that the only way he would want to be out there was if Kairi was there with him. What she had said the other night, when she didn't want to go home, Sora wouldn't forget that. Ever.

 

Kairi was still contemplating over Sora's gift. What would he like? She suddenly realized that his gift had to be meaningful. It couldn't be another charm; the one she'd already made was too special to replace. It had to be something else...

Sora shut his eyes as he thought about how happy he had been to see her last night.

 

Kairi had to find the perfect gift. A present that meant something, something essential. Maybe when she left to go home today she could pass by some places and find it.

 

When he had seen her, standing in his doorway smiling at him, he had felt his heart leap inside his chest. And then he asked some questions and grinned like an idiot. Sora smiled inwardly. He didn't care if he had looked like an idiot, he had just been so happy that he hadn't been able to contain it even if he wanted to. And he didn't want to.

 

When she did find it, it had to be something symbolic. It had to represent something important to him. But what? Kairi narrowed her eyes a little as she started thinking about it.

 

Sora wished that he could smile like that more often. It felt good to finally feel happy inside again. He had Kairi to thank for that. He smiled softly.

 

Kairi tried picturing his face when she gave him her gift, whatever it would be. He'd always liked everything she'd gotten him over the years, and his eyes always lit up whenever he received it. The thought of it made Kairi smile a little, and when she looked down at Sora and saw a smile on his lips also, her own smile reached her eyes.

 

Sora opened his eyes again as he looked outside. It was December 23rd and tons of people were hurriedly walking along the sidewalks, shopping or planning their holiday, he guessed. He could almost chuckle at how frantic they appeared. He had been ready for Christmas a long time ago.

 

Kairi switched her gaze to her arms folded across her chest. She'd go get it today.

 

How could people not be excited for Christmas? Sora couldn't understand that at all. Maybe if they all knew that Santa really did exist like he knew, then they'd be more excited to possibly hear him come down their chimneys on Christmas Eve.

 

Kairi looked up at Sora and realized something all of a sudden. She never really needed a gift from him after all. As long as she could be with him, what else did she need?

 

Sora blinked and watched the New York City life continue to move on outside.

 

Kairi smiled and stared at her lap again, just thinking about all of the Christmases they had spent together.

 

Sora let out a quiet breath and shut his eyes again, telling himself that he was only resting-not sleeping.
