Sora smiled at her. "And then, I reached into my pocket and pulled out the charm, and it began to glow as my heart grew lighter." He explained aloud to benefit both of them. He wasn't exactly sure himself what had happened, but that was the best he could figure it to be.

 

Kairi stared at the charm. "So, you're saying...that this was your light?"

 

"I...think so." Sora hesitated a little. "I'm not really sure."

 

Kairi continued to stare at her charm. She'd made it so long ago. And then she remembered her promise to him that night in the Underground Cavern. He fulfilled it, and she remembered how happy she was that the talisman worked. A small smile made its way across her lips, her teeth showing slightly.

 

Sora looked at Kairi curiously. What was she so happy about?

 

Kairi ran her fingers along the edge of the charm. This had been his Light? But..how? Kairi's smile faded as she thought over it, a little confused on the matter.

 

"Anyway..." Sora continued, curious about Kairi's silence but not wanting to intrude on her thoughts. "I wandered around for a while and then the charm began to grow a lot brighter and everything around me changed to white."

 

"And then what?" Kairi asked, looking up at him. "You were awake?"

 

Sora shook his head a little. "...Not exactly..."

 

Kairi's eyebrows rose. "What was it then?"

 

"Heartless showed up." Sora said blunty, not sure how else to say what happened. "And then...I fought them off a little."

 

"Heartless?" Kairi repeated in disbelief. How? She didn't say anymore, a little confused.

 

Sora shrugged a little, realizing how bad this was starting to look. "And then, a giant light filled the place and the heartless disapeared. There was a keyhole and I unlocked it and then I woke up."

 

"I see..." Kairi looked back down at the charm and then looked back up at him. "I'm glad you're back, Sora." She smiled softly.

 

Sora offered a small smile as he started to think. Where had the heartless come from, anyway?

 

Kairi looked away and then traced her fingers along her charm. Thalassa shells, they ensured a safe voyage. If Sora had been carrying it around with him, why hadn't he been safe? She was starting to doubt the luck of her charm; it hadn't worked when he really needed it, except for the case when he woke up. But somehow that was different.

 

Sora shut his eyes and took in a quiet breath. Talking so much had really made him tired, but he still wasn't ready to face what his dreams may have had in store for him.

 

Kairi frowned. Maybe the luck was wearing off... Her charm hadn't protected Sora when he was in McDonalds that day, or in the jail, or when he had his attacks. It hadn't protected him when the doctor was around either. Maybe it was a failed creation.

 

Sora sighed softly and turned his head into his pillow. He would just rest his eyes...

 

Kairi turned her head and saw that Sora was getting tired. She looked at her charm again before standing up and walking over to the small end table in the room. She glanced at the charm again and then put it on the table.
