Axel mentally cursed and remained silent. He'd let Roxas explain.

 

Roxas lowered his head and flexed his jaw in frustration. Great.

Kairi stood up slowly. "Roxas...?"

He looked up at her, his eyes a piercing blue, filled with anger and pure concentration. "It's the doctor."

Kairi arched a brow. "What? My doctor? What about him?"

Roxas kept his eyes on her, his expression remaining unchanged. "No, Kairi. The doctor, the one that tried to kill Sora. He's back."

Kairi froze, her heart skipping a beat and her eyes widening. What? He was...back? No..it couldn't be. "You're lying..."

 

Axel turned around and opened the door. He peeked his head outside, but he didn't see anyone.

 

Roxas took a few steps toward her. "Why would we lie about that? Sora's in danger, we all are."

Kairi gripped the chair, trying to steady herself. No. He couldn't be back. Sora was in danger...even worse danger. Kairi shook her head in disbelief. "He can't be. He's with the police."

Roxas shook his head slowly, his eyes locked on hers.

 

Axel came back into the room. "It's true, Kairi. I don't know how he escaped, but I saw on the news that he was coming here."

 

Kairi looked at her bare feet on the tiled floor. This couldn't be...Not now, not while they had a little peace in their lives. She brought her head back up, meeting their gazes. "You have to find Sora."

Roxas nodded. "Any idea on where he went?"

Kairi shook her head. "He just said he was going on a walk. Nothing more."

 

"Me and Roxas could split up and search the hospital..." Axel said outloud, thinking.

 

Kairi nodded. "Okay."

"Sounds good," Roxas agreed as he turned.

 

"Kairi, you're in danger if you stay here. We should find you a safer place." Axel told her.

 

"Like where?" Kairi wanted to help, but in her condition, she couldn't. If they just gave her a few moments...

 

Axel shrugged. "A janitor's closet...? That's all I can think of."

 

Roxas arched a brow. "...Maybe. There has to be somewhere else though."

Kairi swallowed. She'd changed her mind. Sora was too important to her; there was no way she was staying behind. "I'm not hiding anywhere."

Roxas turned, surprised by the firmness in her voice.

 

Axel nodded and held out his cell phone. "I thought you might have felt that way. You can help search. Keep my phone with you."

 

Kairi walked forward and took the phone. She nodded.

"Are you sure you're going to be okay?" Roxas asked, uncertain. He didn't feel right about this for some reason.

Kairi turned her head to him. "Yes," she said, confidence and determination in her voice.

 

"We need to move." Axel said firmly. "Roxas, you take this floor. Kairi, you get the first floor. I'll get the third."

 

Kairi nodded while Roxas did the same. She needed to get her clothes...

Roxas started for the door. "Let's go."

 

Axel nodded and left.

 

Roxas stopped at the door. "Be careful," he said to Kairi.

Kairi nodded and watched as he left her sight. She went over to the cabinet and found her clothes. She picked them up and opened her door, looking left and right. She saw Roxas starting down the hall, but didn't see anyone else. She slipped down the hall to the bathroom to change.

 

Axel climbed up the stairs to the third floor. He was worried. Where was Sora?

 

Kairi came out of the bathroom in her normal pink outfit. She went to the elevator and pushed the button, eventually getting in and going down to the first floor. She hoped they'd find him soon, before it was too late.

Roxas traveled down the halls. Where had he run off to?
