KH- Fast Food Madness!

Kairi pushed herself up from her bed slowly and placed her bare feet on the cold floor. Her legs were stiff as she silently made her way to his chair. She placed her hand on his shoulder gently, not a word leaving her mouth.

 

Sora was startled when he felt a hand on his shoulder. He turned his head a little and saw Kairi standing next to him. "What are you doing out of bed?" He asked softly as he turned his gaze back to the window.

 

"It looked like someone else needed caring for," she said quietly as she looked out the window at the city. Kairi was feeling well enough to stand, and she'd been wanting to at least stand up for the last few hours she'd been awake.

 

Sora silently shook his head and looked down. Kairi was in the hospital with a serious injury and she was still looking out for him. It didn't feel right that he couldn't even take care of himself anymore.

 

Kairi switched her gaze to him, concern etched on her features. "What? Did I say something wrong?"

 

Sora looked out the window and shook his head again. "No, it wasn't you." He reassured her in a quiet voice.

 

"Then what's wrong?" Kairi asked. She was a little worried, but she knew that Sora could pull through. He was strong enough.

 

"It's nothing." He told her, finally looking at her. He offered a small smile.

 

Kairi gave him a look. "Sora..."

 

Sora was surprised by the firmness in her voice, but he didn't question it. She was only wondering about what was going on with him. "Really. It's nothing."

 

Kairi kept her eyes on him but looked away after some thought. "Alright. If you say so." For some reason a part of her didn't believe him. When she woke up, she'd seen how upset he looked, and that was from behind.

 

Sora was glad when she dropped the subject. It wasn't that big of a deal; at least, it wasn't worth worrying her about it. She had enough going on at the moment. She didn't need to carry his burdens too.

 

Kairi dropped her hand that was on his shoulder to her side. She saw the cars on the street, backed up at stoplights. She heard the honking of horns and then a screech that had come from a different block. The memory of the car incident entered her mind and she looked down at her feet. She already had a head injury and was in the hospital; she didn't need a stupid memory to make it worse.

 

Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Kairi look down at her feet. He wondered what was up, but he figured that maybe silence was better. At least, he thought so. So he stayed quiet.

 

Kairi looked back out the window at the sunny sky. She wished she could go to the park and lie under a shaded tree in the grass, like she did over the Summer every year. But those days were over; it was time for growing up.

 

Sora let out a deep breath and rest his head on his hand again. He was still exhausted, but he was afraid that he would miss something if he fell asleep. He gazed out the window tiredly.

 

Kairi turned around, knowing that it did no good just to stand there. She slowly walked back to her bed and sat down, bringing her feet back up to the bed. She didn't know what was going on with him, but she knew that if it was serious that Sora would tell her. Propping her pillows up, Kairi leaned back against them and stared ahead at the wall.

 

Sora was surprised when Kairi walked away. He turned around and lift himself out of the chair. He walked towards the chair beside Kairi's bed and sat down. "How are you feeling?" He asked softly as he looked at his hands, which were folded in his lap.

 

Kairi blinked. "Better than yesterday." She fiddled with her fingers.

 

"What does that mean?" Sora asked her. He didn't know if that meant she was feeling good, alright, or horrible. He needed to know.
