KH- Fast Food Madness!

Roxas stepped forward a few steps, his eyes staring firmly in concentration and concern as he stood near the end of the bed.

Kairi focused on moving her fingers. Just one squeeze... She felt his touch again and then felt the bed against her hand. She forced her fingers to move, she had to. Her finger twitched slightly and then went back to its position. Kairi sucked in another needed breath. The weight was lifting slowly. That one movement wasn't good enough...

 

Sora thought he saw Kairi's finger twitch, but he ignored it. He was probably imagining things. He brushed some hair off her face. "I'm not leaving." He told her as he stared at her face. "Take all the time you need, you have all the time in the world." He put his hand back to its previous spot and squeezed Kairi's hand.

 

No you don't...They'll come for you soon... Kairi wanted to cry again. It was breaking her heart to put him through this. She replaced that sadness with anger now as she tried to move her hand again. Just a squeeze, just one. His hand was against hers and then she felt her fingers for a split second. She didn't waste any time and squeezed his hand the best she could before her hand went numb again. Kairi was starting to get it back, that weight getting lighter every few seconds.

 

Sora smiled when he felt Kairi's hand move. "I felt that." He told her as he squeezed her hand again. "I know it wasn't easy for you to do. I know you'll come around soon. You're going to be just fine." He choked out again as the tears began to flow again.

 

The doctor watched intently. "Good, Sora. Keep going."

Kairi would've smiled if she could. He felt it and that's what mattered. But she wanted to feel everything again, not just her hand for a second. She wanted to wake up completely, be able to move again. She tried harder, using her strength to at least move her hand. The weight was lifting when she tried harder. Come on...

 

"Kairi, if you don't wake up soon, I'm going to run out of things to say!" Sora forced himself to chuckle. "You know how annoying I am when I start to ramble." He smiled in spite of himself as he looked down at her again.

 

Kairi giggled, taking in his words. Wait. She...giggled. Kairi had found her voice without even trying...

 

Sora smiled at her laugh. He felt like jumping for joy. "Kairi, wake up and I'll do my happy dance!" He promised as his eyes filled with tears of happiness.

 

Kairi wanted to smile, but her lips wouldn't move.

"She's getting closer," Roxas said quietly.

Kairi heard Roxas's words and pushed herself harder now. She was closer, almost there. I can do this. I have to. For Sora.

"She should be able to open her eyes in a few moments," the doctor said.

 

Sora nodded at the doctor. "Thank you." He said gratefully before he looked back at Kairi. "Kairi, if you don't wake up soon, I'm not going to dance, since it is kind of embarassing. So hurry up; it's a limited time offer!"

 

Sora.... Kairi tried smiling again, but only felt her lips twitch. She tried harder. At least open your eyes, Kairi. The girl felt the pain shoot through her head, but it only motivated her more. She was breathing easier now, the weight gone. A sigh left her slowly through her nose and she tried prying her eyelids apart. Sora was waiting for her to, and she had to do it not only for herself but for him as well. She wanted her violet-blue eyes to meet his ocean blue just once.

As her thoughts took her away, Kairi didn't notice that her hand wasn't numb anymore. She squeezed his hand. I'm almost there, Sora.

"C'mon, Kairi." Roxas watched patiently.

Kairi took in a deep breath and tried opening her eyes again. Try harder, Kairi. Try harder.

 

Sora grinned like an idiot when he felt her squeeze his hand again. He bent down and kissed it. "You're going to be fine." He said outloud, believe it for real this time.

 

Kairi tried her hardest to open her eyes. Come on, already. She was tired of this. She'd been like this for too long. The girl tried again, lifting her eyelids. Light met her eyes slightly but her eyelids shut again. Too close that time. I have to keep going, she encouraged herself. Sora was counting on her, as well as Roxas and the doctor she barely knew. She moved her fingers slightly and squeezed his hand one more time. She was putting all the effort she could into opening her eyes.

The doctor watched intently. "She's closer."

Kairi knew that. They'd been saying that for the last few minutes. She lifted her eyelids again, slowly this time. The numbness was melting away...everywhere. White met her eyes and she closed her eyes before opening them again. She blinked away the blurry vision slowly, three unclear figures in her sight. She opened them again, her vision finally clearing and focusing. Her eyes met the ones she'd been dying to see for the longest time, the ocean blue piercing right back to her orbs.

 

"Kairi." He smiled as he looked into her bright blue eyes. Tears began to run down his cheeks. "I told you that everything would be alright."

 

"Don't cry...Sora," she said slowly and quietly.

Roxas smiled.

 

Sora slowly lift up a hand and noticed that his face was soaked. He smiled at Kairi. "I'm not sad, Kairi. They're happy tears." He used his gloved hand to dry his face.

 

Kairi smiled softly.

"Kairi, how are you feeling?"

She looked at the doctor. "Better...A lot better."

The doctor nodded. "Good. You suffered from blood loss and went into sleeping paralysis. But we stitched up the gash in the back of you head, so you should be alright."

Kairi smiled. "Thank you," she said softly.

 

Sora nodded gratefully to the doctor again. "Thanks." He turned back to Kairi and smiled at her. "Does this mean I have to do the happy dance?" He said regretfully; he hated the happy dance.

 

The doctor nodded. "I'll be back to check on you later." He left the room.

Kairi looked at Sora. She smiled and giggled softly. "Isn't that my reward for trying?"

 

Sora blushed. "I guess. But do you really want to see that?" Sora grimaced at the thought of his dumb happy dance.
