KH- Fast Food Madness!

Roxas stared at his feet. The doctor had said that she would sleep for some time due to loss of blood. But if she slept too long, it's possible she may be in a coma or have sleep paralysis. The thought scared Roxas, for he cared for Kairi.

Kairi felt his soft touch against her hand. Why couldn't she wake up? It was getting to her now, and she was getting scared. She knew Sora was there, but she wanted to be able to see him, to be sure she was hallucinating his touch. Her eyelids were too heavy. It's just from being weak, she tried telling herself.

 

Sora bit his lip, feeling like something bad was going on that he didn't know about. He leaned forward and gently kissed Kairi on the forehead.

 

Kairi's heart fluttered slightly when she felt lips on her forehead. Sora was there...He was with her.

Roxas looked up when the heart monitor bounced, the beeping being interruped slightly.

OOC: I'm not confusing you, am I?

 

OOC: No...but I am wondering what's going to happen now xD.

Sora heard a momentary difference with the beeping. He looked over at Roxas to make sure he wasn't the only one who heard it.

 

Roxas met Sora's eye, a look of hope in them, as well as surprise. He stood up straight and looked at Kairi's lying form.

Kairi tried to relax. She'd be okay, she'd be able to open her eyes soon. Patience was the key.

OOC: xDD Me too. We'll see where this leads us.

Sora held Kairi's hand in both of his as he looked down at the floor. Why? Why did this happen? He didn't understand why things had to keep getting worse and worse. He sighed quietly.

 

Roxas walked forward slowly, staring at the heart monitor and then at Kairi's pale face. She somehow knew they were there.

Kairi suddenly felt something heavy on her chest. It felt as if someone was sitting on her lungs. Her breathing got quicker slightly.

OOC: Symptoms of sleep paralysis...=/

 

OOC: I know nothing about diseases or anything like that =/

Sora looked up at Kairi and noticed her breathing more quickly. His eyes dart to Roxas as he shot him a questioning look.

 

OOC: The symptoms of sleep paralysis are that you can't move, but your mind is aware of the things going on around you; you can hallucinate (which is why I mentioned that Kairi may have been hallucinating about Sora's touch); you feel as if something heavy is on top of you and you can't breathe very well. But you wake up within seconds or several minutes, either by touch or by sound. Wikipedia is your friend. =)

Kairi started to panic. What is so heavy?! I can't breathe! She sucked in as much breath as she could, but it felt as if something heavy was on top of her, pushing the oxygen out of her and not allowing anymore in.

Roxas froze. He glanced at Sora and then at the heart monitor. Her heart rate was increasing...

 

Sora let go of Kairi's hand and sat it back on the bed as he stared at her face. What was going on? He began to panic. He had to help some how. "I'm going to get help." Sora's voice was shaky. He rose to his feet and looked towards the door.

 

No, don't! Kairi wanted to cry. She didn't want Sora to leave. She sucked in a short breath, her heart thudding in her chest.

Roxas turned toward the door. His first thought was to run out there and holler for help, but he turned around. Kairi's heart rate was too fast.

 

Sora opened the door and took one step out. "We need help!" Sora yelled out to anyone who was walking by. He looked back over at Kairi and bit his lip. He walked back over to her and put his hand on her forehead.

 

Kairi felt a hand on her forehead. Was it Sora? She couldn't think about it, worried about her breathing. She couldn't move her face, knowing it was frozen in a calm sleeping state. But that was completely opposite of how she felt. Her breathing was quickening every few seconds. It felt like a hundred pound weight was on her chest.

Roxas turned as the door opened.

"What's going on here?" the doctor asked. He approached Sora quickly.

 

"I don't know," Sora told him, panic ringing in his voice. "She just suddenly started breathing harder and her heart rate is up." He bit his lip as he watched her. "Please help her." He pleaded.

 

The doctor checked Kairi's pulse on her neck. "She's suffering from sleep paralysis. She's aware that you're here, but she's unable to move." He glanced at the monitor and then at her. "Kairi. Kairi, can you hear me?"

Kairi continued to suck in breath. Yes. Yes, I can hear you!

The doctor shook his head. "She isn't responding. Try talking to her. Touch and sound should wake her up."

 

Sora gave the doctor a confused look. He had no idea what any of that meant, but he went to sit down beside Kairi again anyway. He put his hand on hers. "Kairi? Kairi, I know you're in there. It's alright, you don't have to talk." He choked back tears as he looked at her. "I'm here." He said softly as he squeezed her hand.

 

OOC: xD I knew I'd confuse you sooner or later.

Kairi wanted to cry. She knew he was there, but she just couldn't see him. She was scared, afraid of getting seperated from him forever. She felt wetness on the corner of her closed eye. The tickle of the tear trickling down the side of her face made Kairi suck in another breath.

The doctor noticed the tear. "She can hear you. Keep going..."

Kairi tried to calm her breathing. Sora... His voice rang in her ears and the weight lifted slightly. However, she still had to breathe heavily. Why wasn't this letting up?

 

Sora used his hand to gently wipe away Kairi's tear. "Shhh, it's alright." He pulled his hand away and put it back on hers. "I know. It's okay." He felt a tear slide down his own cheek.

 

No... She had to move. Just one muscle...just one. She was going to fight this; she wasn't going to let this win. Despite the weight she felt on her chest and the pounding pain in her head, Kairi focused on her hand, held between Sora's. She could feel his touch, but couldn't move her own. Kairi took in the next breath her lungs required, a little longer than the last. She focused her energy on her hand. One muscle, Kairi....Come on.

 

"It's okay." He said again as he used his other hand to wipe away his tear. He lift up her hand and kissed it lightly. "Everything will be fine. I promise." He gently lowered her hand back down to its spot on the bed.
