KH - Fast Food Madness! V2

Kairi pushed herself up and stretched, letting out a breath. She fixed her shirt and head for the door, stepping out into the hallway.

 

Sora put his hands on the counter and let his arms support some of his weight as he stood there, his eyes shutting for a moment as he felt his face burning up.

 

Kairi walked down the hallway and stopped when she passed the living room, a smile coming across her face when she saw two of her tired friends napping on the couch. She knew for sure that Sora was the only one up.

 

Sora exhaled softly and lightened the pressure on one of his arms, lifting his right hand and putting it on the back of his head lightly. He winced when he felt pain at the spot he had hit yesterday. He blinked one time in surprise to the pain, then let his eyes open halfway as he gazed down at the floor.

 

Kairi turned her head toward the kitchen, starting to wonder if that was where Sora was. She started toward the room silently, not wanting to wake her two friends.

 

Sora let his hand stay on that one spot on the back of his head, his eyes shutting momentarilly as he gazed at the floor. He exhaled softly, knowing that the medicine he took wouldn't start working until later...if it even worked. He bit his lip lightly as he felt his cheeks burn with heat.

 

Kairi entered the room, her eyes shifting around the room until they fell on the boy at the counter. She noticed his expression, and her eyes shined with concern.

 

A soft breath left Sora's lips as he lightly ran over the back of his head with his hand, trying to find some way to get rid of the pain from the bump. And then he realized that rubbing his head probably wouldn't help him, so he let his right hand fall to his side. He stood still, completely oblivious to the presence of the redhead.

 

Kairi slowly started toward him, wondering if he was all right. "...Sora?" Her voice was soft and gentle, full of concern.

 

Sora lifted his head at the sound of his name, his eyes opening as he turned to face the girl. "Oh, hey...Kairi." Sora greeted Kairi with a small smile appearing on his lips, slightly embarassed that she had caught him at such an awkward moment.

 

Kairi's pace slowed to a halt, the girl standing a few feet from Sora. "You okay?" she asked, her eyes filled with concern.

 

Sora nodded slightly, giving Kairi a weak smile. "I'm okay," he responded, keeping both hands at his side as he gazed at Kairi.

 

Kairi hoped so. She hadn't seen that much of him that last time she was with him, which was for less than five minutes before she went to sleep. He looked a little better in his eyes, the tiredness gone but the rest of his emotions still there.

 

Sora hesitated a moment before he took a few steps forward, right in front of Kairi. He slowly raised his right hand and let it rest on his cheek as he gazed down at her. "Don't worry about me...okay?" Sora said softly, his eyes looking into hers as he kept his hand in its spot.

 

Kairi gazed into Sora's piercing blue eyes with care and concern. She nodded slightly, though she knew she couldn't hide her worry. She cared about him, a lot. And it was natural to be concerned when someone wasn't doing their best.

 

Sora smiled weakly at her nod, though he could see that it was just for his sake. He could see in her eyes that she was still worried, and knew he wouldn't be able to get rid of it that easily. "Well, thanks for trying anyway," he said softly, his hand slowly coming off her cheek and returning to his side. He didn't really blame her for worrying; he knew he wasn't completely himself yet. He had too much going on in his mind to settle on one thought, and it was making his headache even worse.

 

Kairi looked into his eyes, a little saddened. "I'm sorry," she apologized softly, lowering her gaze from his eyes.

 

"What're you sorry for?" Sora asked softly, his eyes staying on her as he gently lifted up his right hand again. He let his fingers catch onto some of her red hair as he tucked it behind her ear before his hand went back to its previous position.

 

"I'm sure my worry isn't making things any better for you, is it?" Kairi spoke softly, keeping her eyes on the floor for a moment before looking up to meet his eyes.

 

Sora hesitated for a moment, not knowing what to say. How was he supposed to respond to that? It was true that he didn't like others worrying about him, but in some cases, like this one, it was understandable. "It can't be helped," Sora said quietly, honest as he kept his eyes locked with Kairi's.
