    But that's besides the point. His real name is Light, but he is considered Kira, because he's a "killer." That's as far I will go into it without explaing the whole plot.

    So, besides that his name is light, which is an odd name, his nickname is Kira, because he kills, and kira in japanese means killer. So he has two names. OK i think I got it.
