I prefer real rap over other forms of music because it saddens me that the majority of singers these days have nothing good to sing about and some of them don't even write their lyrics, but instead get by using the beauty of their voice. Sure you can sing, but sing something with meaning and that comes from your soul and I'll respect you.

 

Hey, its just my opinion. I'm pretty pissed off that you decided to quote me in your rage despite several people already mentioning this before I did. I'm also pissed off that you think I don't like that kind of music because I'm a 'non-conformist' when actually it's because the style really irritates me.

So lets just both be pissed off together.

 

Would you say abstinence is unnecessary? I'm curious on that subject.

Only one person has said something like this from what I read over in the thread, and they explained it with reasonable logic. You're only saying a form of music is bad because you're letting previous experiences (probably from listening to the crap on the radio these days) decide your opinion rather than actually delving into it further, which most people with a good taste and actual passion for music would know is rather unwise, as it keeps them from finding something new to them that they enjoy.

And "popular" music? That's a pretty lame generalization. Music is no better in quality when it's unknown compared to when it's played on the radio, unless you honestly believe that a band being a "sell-out" by wanting to make some money off of what they do instantly makes them suck, which is silly.

Bob Dylan sounds like a goat, and he still sings better than many modern-day artists.

 

Labels are stupid and create a false sense of belonging.

I suppose you refer to the difference between witnessing another's pain and inflicting it yourself? Then allow me to apologize for mixing up sadism and Schadenfreude, because I mostly targeted the latter in my reply.

That being said, I can still justify sadism in a number of cases. If I, for example, were to pry open the emotional scars of someone's former dysfunctional relationship purely for my own enjoyment (and believe me, I have), then I have the full right to do so. Why?
Because whatever hurt him/her actually happened in the past and I can expect him/her to be over it by now.
Because I'd merely dig up the truth and re-iterate it. The truth may be told, anytime, by anyone, for any purpose.
Yes, I am enjoying myself at someone else's expense. Yes, I should mind my tongue that whatever I say doesn't backfire. Yes, I should expect vindictiveness. They're all rules of the same game and I'll bend nor break yet fully exploit them.

I think that people can be divided into hierarchical categories according to their overall skills and abilities. I think some people are better are others, and those superior people are allowed to look down on their inferior counterparts.
