I think a moderate amount of cynicism is necessary to keep a sharp mind and develop and proper hunger for knowledge.

 

People tend to like someone who finds pleasure in the small things in life. Why shouldn't that include someone else's misery? The more things you find pleasure in, the better for you.
I see sadism and willingness to help out as two very different concept that can coexist in a single person. Being sadistic doesn't deserve being looked down upon.

 

I don't think rap is music. Rappers are just wannabe singers who don't have enough sense of rythm to sing.

Putting the happiness of yourself above the happiness of others should be looked down upon. Thinking of sadism as a self-indulgence doesn't work, because it affects someone else, perhaps more so then it affects you. In the context you're thinking of, it's fine, but in that context, it's not sadism, sadism requires a sadist and a victim for it to be sadistic. And if a victim is in fact victimized, no amount of random pseudo-philosophical nonsense will get in the way of the fact that it's wrong.
