I can't add too much here, so many other have offered you great ideas to get started with. Maybe try these:

-Use the stairs instead of the elevator, if you can. Where I go to school, the main academic building has five floors. Granted, my knees aren't as fantastic as they used to be, but I'll schlep my stuff up the stairs rather than take the elevator, unless I have class on the fifth floor.
-What grade are you in? Do you carry your backpack around while you're at school? Carrying around your backpack is kinda like lifting weights, in a way, and moving around from class to class (if you're in middle or high school) helps to burn extra calories.
-Avoid breaded foods, if you can, like chicken nuggets or patties. There's extra calories in the breadings that don't need to be there. Also watch out for gravies and other high-calorie sauces.
-While I did say watch out for certain foods, don't stray from them completely or you'll go nuts and end up failing. Instead, limit yourself, and use those kinds of food as a kind of treat, but only once in a while. There's a huge difference between eating a Big Mac every day and eating one twice a month.

Most important thing I can stress is to not let yourself get discouraged. Personally I think it's great that you want to look and feel healthier and lose this weight, but for goodness sake don't look at pictures of models in magazines and then look at yourself in a mirror and get all discouraged with yourself. Be consistent and stay positive. Do this because you want to feel better about yourself, not because it's what everyone else is doing.

Hope this helps and good luck.

Repliku, I am in no way trying to insult you because I have no knowing of your knowledge, but that sounds like you got it all from weight loss websites. Maybe you did, maybe you didn't, that's just what it looks like to me. No offense towards you because you seem like an awesome and helpful person.

    Here's my take on this:

    STARTING WORDS OF WISDOM
Quite a few things come into play on this. Number one is your age. If you're like, preteen to early teen, then what you should do is definitely partake in gym class. It's a fun way to be active and boost your morale. When I was around 14-15, I was about 210 lbs. and now I'm 153. If you REALLY want to lose weight, do not expect instant results. This takes a long time. Not only that, you have to stay consistent. Make sure if you're going to go running or biking or to the gym, make sure you get plenty of carbs! That means rice, cereal, bread, whatever you can. They give you a long, steady, and safe stream of energy to keep you going throughout your workout.

    FOR A DIET
While eating 3 square meals a day is what people say is healthy, I do NOT recommend this. Just make a medium sized side dish with some fruit and veggies. Eat about 6 medium sized meals a day to keep your metabolism up and running. That way it doesn't have long periods of no work and constantly burns fat. Have some salad! You will be amazed at how much a salad can fill you up. Put on some lettuce and spinach leaves, some hard-boiled egg for protein and taste, and if you want, get some kind of vegetable that has juice in it to marinate the salad to act as a dressing. I use jalapenos for mine and I don't use dressing. This is all personal taste, try it out, experiment. Have some fruit in the afternoon to keep energized. Eat meat! For your night meal, enjoy some boneless skinless chicken. It tastes good in pasta and it's real good for your body. Drink plenty of water and stay away from energy drinks. All they do is put in useless sugar to your body. For a dessert, have some apples and oranges. They're very sweet and high in vitamins. Also, eat fresh cherries if you can. They're high in antioxidants which help clean your system out and get rid of that crap(no pun intended) that's slowing your body down.

    WARNING AND ADVICE
Whatever you do, when you work out, DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT, WEAR MULTIPLE LAYERS OF CLOTHING! People say you lose weight and you do, but it's purely water weight and will be back within a few days. And it's not healthy at all. It's torturing yourself and can lead to serious health problems. Do some weight lifting that focuses on upper body one day, next day do lower body, have a day of rest for stretching or cardio, it's all personal choice. Do some jumping jacks. Take a walk outside on a nice day. I hate doing them too, but push-ups can help you build upper body strength and it's free.

    FREESTYLE IT, YO!
Okay, like I said earlier, it all depends on age. If you're young, just loosely follow that. Your body is still growing and it'll fill itself out eventually, but you need to get rid of the excess beforehand. If you're like my age or older(17+) then try to follow that pretty strictly. I don't mean word for word, but just kind of fit it to work to your lifestyle.

    MY LITTLE RANT
Also, Repliku, I do have to correct you. Most people lose weight because of peer pressure or to get girls. I was fat before and I didn't mind it TOO much, but I was made fun of, picked on, I couldn't get girls. My self-esteem took a nosedive. I don't know this young mans reasoning for this, but it's his personal choice and it sounds like it IS hurting his self-esteem. He sounds like he really wants to do this and it is a change for the better. I'm not saying he isn't fine how he is, but this can help reduce his risk of health issues in the future. But I digress. Peoples opinions can really hurt you and it will have a negative psychological affect which can lead to a self-fulfilling prophecy i.e. overeating or something like that.

    APPEARANCE AND MORALE
Dress comfortably, wear dark colors, no horizontal stripes. Get some nice tennis shoes that feel good and give good support. And keep this in mind. Your parents can help you a lot. They love you a lot and they'll help you in this decision. They'll give you the positive support you need to keep going. I wish you much luck, man.

    BE UNIQUE
Oh! Almost forgot. Don't spend a crapload of money on a gym membership. You can do most of that stuff at your house. Just use your imagination and be safe. And that celery thing is true. You actually burn calories eating raw celery.

Do something, find a hobby. Boredom leads to just eating food, trust me. Block yourself from food. I for one, would stay on the computer, and not get food until I HAVE to, by either my parents or my body. Don't eat ****ing 6 plates of food homie. Work out a lot too, cardio is like the bible to a fat man. I, for one, do not do cardio and just starve myself...it leads to the same results, but it was wayy wayy wayy more painful. Get on a sport or something. The most important thing is know what you eat. Proteins and vitamins are needed. Carbs are not, definitely not. **** off the white bread bro. Don't eat bread at all unless it's whored with lettuce, tomatoes and such. And holy ****, eat your vegetables. You don't know how good a brocolli does to your body, man.

edit; rep and kaxej said everything else that I'd go for. Definitely follow their words.

I always say, better too heavy than too thin.
Seriously, being too heavy is more healthy than too thin,
    hope that helps a bit...

So what? Even if you are fat? What should you care?
Just a question, is it about what others say to you?

Okay, I'm sure you're not fat.
One day I saw this girl walking in the hall in my middle school and she was very fat.
I said to myself,"If I don't get healthier, I'm going to look like her."
And I'm like a health food nut.
    Anything healthy, I'll eat.
    I've always been that way.
But I started eating a lot more healthy foods and I lost 6 pounds.
People that say diets don't work don't do them right.
You have to stick with it.

    be yourself

Don't be bothered by them. And leave yourself starve just to lose weight, well you could begin a simple diet of vegetables and cut down less with the meat..i mean you could still eat meat but don't eat too much..you may include in fruits too which is healthier.

Appreciate what we are cuz that why god made us, =) Be happy.. true friends will always be there for you..and you're never alone..

    Be strong!! (^-^)
