Why are anim4e boys so clueless and stupid? examples:Sasuke Uchicha.
He got himself into a mess so big and can't he love?

    Another example:Jaden Yuki
All he ever cared for was food and sleeping. I never saw took an interest in Blair or Alexis. Which was sad.

Another example that is completely opposite:
Kyon. Sure he was stupid but in the end he figured it out.

So are most anime boys like ordinary boys? Wow.
    But most aren't ordinary.
So the question is Are most anime boys just clueless?
    Can't they figure it out?

Because Naruto and Yu-gi-oh aren't love stories.
They want it to seem more...relatable? So they put some love interests in there to make the characters seem somewhat normal, but in the end, it's not a love anime/manga/show

I always thought it was more to make a mockery of relationships, it adds a comedy factor in how clueless they are.

They do it with girl characters too, see: Sakura in CCS, Haruhi in OHSHC etc etc

Besides, in some animes the characters are not clueless at all, I can think of a dozen animes where the characters not only are aware of the attraction, but act on it too.

If you actually watch an anime that focus on the romance between the two character, you'll see that the main male character isn't a total idiot. Take Clannad for example, the main character actually likes the main female character and helps her with a lot of her problems and in the end of the first season they do end up going out together. (He was an idiot every now and then but that was for the comedy factor.)

'Cause it's anime. If you're wanting love, just watch the real-type TV. As in LIVE ACTION. Not anime.

That's why I don't like many anime... they make it so childish that I think if I watch some my IQ will lower.

I meant to say problems instead of partners. I've been doing that the whole day where I would mess up a sentence by using the wrong word. I have no clue why.

I agree with this, except what you said about Haruhi, she seems extremely aware and observant to me. ^^

    .-.

Of course there will be clueless anime characters, just like there are intelligent anime characters, silly anime characters and annoying anime characters. There's a variety, just like a collection of people of any sort.

Sasuke is fully aware that he could get laid any time he wanted. It's just that he's only interested in True Darknessâ„¢ and revenge (doesn't matter against who, so long as he has his revenge).

With Kyon, it's Haruhi. Everyone, including the viewers, have a hard enough time understanding her. The exception is Itsuki, and he's gay.

With Jaden, it's simply because he isn't interested. Like you said, he's interested in duels, eating and sleeping. No room for a girl in his life. I blame hormones.

In fact, usually the protagonist just isn't interested, or has a good enough excuse for not understanding. Occasionally he even gets the girl.

    e.g.

In Evangelion, it looks like he might have a partner in Asuka. Remember, the girl with immense mental problems? Very mixed signals sent, to the point where not even the viewer or Asuka herself knows if she's interested.

    In Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann the protagonists actually man up and get together with the girls they like. Sort of. ;_;

Death Note plays with it. Or rather, Light plays with her, using her as a tool to further his plans of world cleansing. No awkwardness here.

School Days has quite possibly the least active lead possible, yet he manages to get the girl. And the other girl. And the other girl. And the other girl. And the other girl.

In One Piece, Luffy's too busy with nakama to bother with love.

We can forgive the men in Mai-HiME, because Mai is an indecisive twat.

Higurashi no Naku Koro ni's style of love tends to result in bloody corpses.

B gata K kei is very good in this regard, because the viewer gets to see both the girl's and the guy's thoughts. Yamada's definitely sending mixed messages, and as of the most recent episode, they hook up.

So perhaps I'm not watching the same genre, but in my experience, the protagonist does usually get the girl.

She is very observant and aware about most things, but not when it comes to romance. Look at how oblivious she is over pretty much every guy who shows an interest.

xD its ok, I do that a lot lately, would have made Clannad a hell of a lot more interesting. Love that anime <333

I always just thought she chose to ignore it because she wasn't intrested in romance xD Idk, that is just my take. ^^

Maybe because the male protagonists are too busy trying to save the fucking world most of the time?

Haruhi has a monolog about why she doesn't like guys. Her main argument is that they're dull. Then she says that she's bi for interesting people.

In my experience either the guy is too dull to see that the girl drops signals, or he shows interests and waits for the girl to give in.
For example the 1st season finally of Shakugan no Shana Shana(girl) confesses her love to Yugi(guy) and you think they will get together in the 2nd season, but NO. Since she confessed her love to him in the middle of an explosion he "couldn't hear her." and when he asks her she insists that nothing happen BUT STILL LIKES HIM!!!*facepalm*
    This enraged me so.

Haruhi is pansexual for aliens. Humans are boring, a total turnoff. Kyon describes early in the novel how she observes men as she does potatoes, and Kunikida and Taniguchi regale a story of how she dated every boy in her middle school. They lasted five minutes on average. I guess after dating about ten of them she'd seen everything, but every boy in the school? No wonder she got bored.

As for a number of male anime characters, their obliviousness tends to match their age, or they're devoted to a single girl, or there's no romance at all.

I think it is just the whole Japanese sense of humour, the stereotype of boys always wanting to eat, and focusing on the most trivial things whereas the girls inwardly reflect on relationships and fantasies. Most of the time in anime the characters are fully aware, however when the creators want to give the audience some time off the seriousness of the show they do this Japanese humour thing. Also, genre has a part to it and the people above have explained it perfectly. ^_^
