A friend of mine just came to me with the BBS 2010 trailer. He doesn't go to a KH site so he just found it. We ended up talking about the spoilers, and it just went downhill so fast. I got on to a big tirade about how all this clone bullshit had finally worn my nerves thin; how I'd eaten everything in the whole franchise up to now like meatloaf, but I just couldn't take this; how Nomura had just failed me completely and utterly. How I wanted to just rewrite BBS myself and rip out all the bullcrap. And he basically turned me into the ultimate bad guy. I became that guy. That belligerent, hateful Ben Croshaw impressionist who could find no joy in any game on God's green Earth, who jumped at the chance to pick apart every little nuance of every subpar title on the shelf, deserving or undeserving. He seriously told me, and I quote, "How do you enjoy anything? Seriously. You let yourself be bothered so easily by tiny details." I would be having this exact same conversation on the exact opposite side in ANY other situation. I'm always the first guy to speak in defense of those supposedly-subpar titles. I mean, for Chrissake, two of my favorite games for a time were Shadow the Hedgehog and Dirge of Cerberus. And now this. ...Have I seriously become that guy? I'm justified, right? This really is horrible, isn't it? I mean... Nomura failed me. I was expecting BBS to orchestrate the greatest sweeping plot of the century, and it was all chocked up to LOLCLONES. And after all this, I'm still buying the game, because I think it'll be fun and I wanna play Aqua. I'm allowed to hate the plot at least... aren't I? ...I don't wanna be that belligerent asshole... I wanna be the nice, forgiving guy... ;_;
I agree too, I'm getting tired of this whole "he's a new character, but he's actually Sora!" I still like the Kingdom Hearts series, even if I don't stray beyond KH1, Chain of Memories, and KH2, because those games were just so remarkable that I won't ever stop liking them or playing them. ALTHOUGH with BBS I'm really really interested in Aqua's storyline, she just seems like an awesome character imo.
