I rewatched Death Note and six things come to mind. (Spoilers)

1. L touched the Notebook and therefore went to MEI (Nothingness) just like Light. Things are gonna real awkward there.
2. Suichiro (sp?) Yagami made the Shinigami Eye deal and died a couple days later. This means that he would have died in a few days anyway. If it weren't for the sheer emotion in that scene, I would have l'dol.
3. Misa. I wonder if she ever found out that the love of her life was Kira.
4. Matsuda really grew up.
5. Maybe Light really was in love with Misa near the end. She was the first one that he named when he was crying for help.
6. Sidoh is the most badass Shinigami of all time. Whee...plonk.

 

1. If I remember correctly, you have to use the Death Note. L did want to try it, but I don't believe he ever killed anyone, or even took ownership of it. If not, the same could be said for the entire task force.

2. The Shinigami Eye Deal I have problems with, because I think it has to do with your views on destiny. I personally feel that the future is always changing and you therefore cannot accurately predict when a person is going to die. Had he decided not to infiltrate Mello's base and just stay behind the scenes, he could've outlived Light for all we know.

3. She knew at some point, but as I don't believe she had the notebook when Light died, she didn't have knowledge of him being Kira, unless he told her. Which I doubt he'd do.

4. Matsuda = <3

5. I doubt it, I honestly don't think that Light was capable of loving anyone.

6. I liked Rem a lot.

2. I prefer to think that the amount of life the person has left is always the same. How they die is what is out of the Fates' hands.

3. I meant after he died. Like if she was told about it.

4. He actually kinda scared me at the end there. "I'M GONNA KILL HIM HE HAS TO DIE!"

5. My thought on it was like a reverse Gatsby kind of thing. Light had gone so far over the line that he no longer wanted to love anyone and so convinced himself that he didn't love Misa.

6. But what about "Whee plonk!"?

 

I always assumed that meant what was left of your natural life, like if you died from old age or natural causes or whatever. Accidents, being murdered, etc. would have no say in that since they're too predictable.

Then again, destiny is weird in Death Note.
Light killed a couple of criminals by having them get hit by a vehicle. The death note MADE the drivers be there. If he didn't write their names in the Death Note and the criminals were at the exact same spot where they would have been hit IF Light killed them, would they still get hit by a car?

 

The only thing I learned from Death Note was how to kill someone while taking a potato chip...and eating it.

No, it means what was left of your life, because remember, your life in DN is predetermined. So it doesn't matter how you die, but your lifespan as a whole gets cut in half.

Also, Light becomes a Shinigami so he and L don't go to the same place.

 

That was a non-canonical fanservice alternate ending.

If soichiro's death was programmed to be killed at the raid then if he made the deal he would have died before the raid began. That means he would have survived a while after the raid having if he had not been shot.

 

He did make the deal though. That means he would have died a couple days after the raid anyway.

 

Why? If he made the deal then given the raid was his predetermined date of death he would have died before. If it wasn't then I think he would have lived more than a week provided light didn't kill him. But even then light would have to avoid letting soichiro see misa or he would be ruined.

 

I was guessing that the raid was two/three days after he made the deal. Therefore, he would have died normally at most six days from then. My point is that he wouldn't haev lived long much longer anyway, okay?

 

Wait, but if your date of death is predetermined, then he should've died before the raid since he made the deal, because the raid was where he was supposed to die. But then, he wasn't originally supposed to die at the raid, so then that's why he did die there. But if it's predetermined, he shouldn't have, but should.

No, as I said before, he must have been destined to die days after the raid. Thus, his destined date of death, (or DDD) was changed to the day of the raid.

@Xyam: That means that he originally probably only had a few hours to live.

 

Yes, but isn't your death date predetermined from the beginning? Like, out of everything? So he was always supposed to die there. So maybe the eye deal is really just a trick, and it doesn't cut your remaining life span in half?

 

WTF? His death in the raid was due to unforseen circumstances so the deal wouldn't have affected it in any way!

No, when Rem saw Misa after Light did his whole "give up the DN and get it back later thing" she noted that her lifespan was smaller than it should have been, indicating that she had made eye deal again.

@Xyam: His original DDD was predetermined. It was changed by the deal. The means of death was totally independent of the date of death. If you remember, Jealous (sp?) saw that Misa's life was about to run out right before she was almost killed and gave his life to save hers.
