I'm about to barge into their office and break everything of theirs because of the annoyance I'm dealing with. I could have had this video done at least and hour and a half ago, but instead I end up with it getting errors every time I make a split and have to save and reboot only for me to do it again just be rearranging the scenes. You'd think that Windows could make a better program, or at least one that doesn't stop working every half-second. This is one of the times that I really wish I had Sony Vegas or something
If you are prepared for a lot of typing and technical jargon then using AVISynth with VirtualDub can do a lot. Very stable and more powerful than WMM once you get the hang of it.
I keep waiting for Microsoft to update Notepad. Anyways have you checked out Lightworks? A so-called professional grade video editor that's going free/open source. It was used as the editing platform for movies such as Hugo and The King's Speech. I haven't tried it out myself, so I can't comment on whether or not it's appropriate for general users.
The solution to all of your problems: Set up a dual-boot with Ubuntu Linux and Windows and only use Windows when you absolutely need it. Alternately, just refuse to use Microsoft products if you can help it. They are terrible at making reliable and efficient programs. Even their copy function is obsolete.
Not really. You only have formatted writing. You can choose a programming language and it'll highlight/mark/format it.
