If you use Photoshop, double click on the layer you're working on, and it should bring up the effects palette. From there you can do drop shadows, strokes, color overlay, etc.

You can save it as a .psd and then open it in Photoshop to do the stroke effect. .-.

I dunno how you guys are doing it, but I would just duplicate the layer with the text, make the lower one black and the upper one white, then give the black layer a 1 point gaussian blur. (Photoshop, I don't know anything about Gimp)

Also, this should not be in the spam zone.

EDIT: Sorry, slow reply. Can't help you then, if you're so dead-set on an inferior program.

Alright, save the signature as a .psd, then open it in Photoshop.

Make a new Text layer, and then double click on the layer (or go to the toolbar at the top and click Layer > Layer Style> Stroke).

Either way, you'll get to the palette, and then you just do this:

    http://i907.photobucket.com/albums/ac276/DPWolf/textstroke2.jpg

From the palette, you can change the settings of the stroke.
Once you're happy click OK, and there you go.
