    My laptop died. :D
So now I have nothing until tomorrow.

Give much love to my roommate for letting me use her computer. <3

Did the battery run out or did it fry?

And I'm sorry to hear that. My sympathies for your loss. Don't look in her history if you know what is good for you.

Better yet, go up to her and say, "That's gross." after using her computer. Give absolutely no indication as to what you mean.

Actually the power button is fried. Or the thing it's connected to or whatever. Something to do with the motherboard, I believe.
It's an old-a$$ Compaq with Vista so I guess it's to be expected. I looked it up, and I guess it's a pretty common problem with this model. I'm going to see if I can get it to start up one more time so I can get my crap off it, and if not, the harddrive is still perfectly salvagable, so I can get my pics and MSN logs and stuff off it.
So all in all it's not quite as bad as it could be. Though I really, really want to save my Favorites list >_>

...That is a glorious idea and I would totally do that if I didn't love her to pieces for helping me out.

One thing I'm prone to do if I know it is a hardware problem is remove the hard drive entirely before sending the computer in. They tend not to like you for that, but your data is perfecty safe. I figure most of the time they just reimage the drive anyway, so they may as well do so with whatever junk harddrive I put in there.

I'm not sending it in though. I'm getting a new computer.
I was planning on getting one in a few months anyway, soyea.
Now I just have to wait until the weekend, and I can go home and have my stepdad take the stuff off my old harddrive and put it on the new one. If I can't get the computer to start up, that is.

Oh, ok. Well that one is easy enough to someone who knows what they are doing. Just hook up both and move any files you want from drive D: to C: (drive letters may vary). It's like using a giant flash drive.

Yea, I know. I can't wait to make sure my stuff's okay >_< And my stepdad's a pretty competent dude, so that'll be fine.
Also would you know if I'd be able to get Photoshop or my interweb favorites list off the harddrive, or is that connected to the computer itself?

Well photoshop itself will transfer, but it will make the license freak out and then it will lock you out. So effectively no on that account.

Internet settings should be safe though. What browser are you using?

Well it was a pirated version of Photoshop Essentials 7.0, so...
But I think it would be fixable with Keygens, possibly. That's how I got Vegas to work.

I used Internet Explorer because I'm a noob like that, but I had Google Chrome as well.

Alright, I'll post up how to do that later when I can look at the files on my own computer.
