Well, number one, torrents are not illegal. They're actually a quite efficient way of downloading and sharing large files. Yes they're used for illegal purposes, but anything can be used illegally in the wrong hands. The problem here--or, at least, my major problem with it--is that the bill is incredibly vague. Under it, the government could pretty much take down any site and claim that it was infringing on copyrights.
The idea behind a democracy is listening to all the people, compromising, and trying to reach a solution that every one is happy with. It's a give and take, and you may not always get your way, but it's devised under the belief that people are mature enough to work together and do what is in the interest of all the people.
The government that America has is more of an oligarchy, controlled by money & corporations. But that must just be me being a pretty staunch lefty, and is kind of off-topic. xD

This bill will never pass. And if by some stroke of madness it does pass, well, I guess I'll just bash my head into a wall from the fact my goverment is full of f(guitar riff)ing idiots...

I do not think so. Corporatism is pretty undeniable in our society. Intellectual property is proof of that.

Hm, I'm not understanding? My point was that corporations are controlling the global economy and the American government, these days.

My point is that those corporations could not form without a government's aid through patenting and intellectual property, or other laws in their favor. They are two sides of the same coin, these days.

And that's why the internet giants are against it, the bill is so poorly written that they can't even begin to make some sort of proposal other than to throw the whole thing out. With the state bill is in right now, companies like Verizon etc. would have to do so much work alone in just removing all the domains the bill includes.

What I think is that our government(USA) needs to think about the economy and NOT the internet. This bill has little to no chance of getting past because its unconstitutional. Anyone who thinks this will get passed is crazy- I'm not worrying about it much.

I'm betting they think if they get rid of all those sites, it will keep companies and stuff losing thousands, or even millions, of dollars, so they can get things back in place a little

God, I just hope this doesn't get passed.

If it did, KHV would lose members left and right. It's just plain stupid.

If they were recorded by history. Keep in mind that the majority always thinks that it is right, even when it is wrong. So if they all figured they were right and they turned out to be right in the long run, sure.
