Wolfe looked at Lark with a smirk. "I always wondered where 'mad cow disease' had dissappeared to... it jsut happens that it focussed itself on her."

 

Lake whimpered pathetically and hid behind Mickey again. "Sh-Shut up..." She muttered quietly.

 

he growled"shut it wolfe."

 

Wolfe laughed a little. "Why's she acting so weak?" she asked, leaning so she could see lake. "Why are you putting the fragile act on?"

 

he growled louder"Knock it off and leave her alone"

 

"I-I'm not putting any act on..." Lake replied quietly, stumbling back slightly to get away from Wolfe's stare.

 

Wolfe's grin stretched, her eyes moving from Mickey, then back to lake again. "Mickey's getting protective..." She muttered, loving the challenge that had arose before her.

 

He rolled his eyes " do you have to always pick on someone? or bug them? go bug someone else!"

 

Lake stopped backing away a little way behind Mickey, hunched up slightly with her hands hidden inside their sleeves. Which in turn were held up in front of the lower half of her face.

Though she had to admit, something in what Wolfe had said was stuck in her head. Why did she act so weak and timid? She knew full well she was more then capable of tearing a fully grown, full power vampire to shreds in a matter of moments yet still she acted so submissive. She always had done, was it a reflex to hide what she was? Was it because the last time she'd shown a mind of her own around Mickey it'd just ended in a lot of pain and sadness for her? Her mind was ticking over with possible reasons, none of which she liked the idea of at all.

 

"C'mon Lake.."he said taking her hand pulling her to the back door

 

Wolfe shrugged, still smiling at Lake. What is she thinking? I must know what she is thinking. Wolfe stepped forward, now fully in the house.

 

Lake's pastel blue eyes stayed hauntingly empty as she was filled with thought as she was tugged towards the back door. Only looking away from Wolfe at the last moment as Mickey pulled her around.

"You shouldn't be so cold and quick to judge you know Wolfe..." Came a rather dark voice from a dark haired girl with pearly white eyes who was sitting half way down the stairs. "That girl hasn't had the easiest life by far."

 

"my parents in?"He asked her

 

"Yeah, I think so..." Lake nodded, sounding somewhat distant. "So's your cousin Jamei. Not sure where she wandered off to though, she's been lurking around for a little while now."

 

""really? wonder where she is..."he said "where'd you see her last?"

 

"Last I saw of her she was doing that creeping staring into space thing she does in the living room. But that was a couple of hours ago. I wandered of to get changed and stuff."

 

he nodded"how longs she been here?"

 

Wolfe looked up towards the staircase, her body barely budging, only due to her shallow breathes.
"I couldn't help myself. As soon as he began to get defensive, I couldn't stop." She shook her head. "I like the girl, don't get me wrong, it's just the satisfaction of having Mickey grow defensive that really makes me go on more than I should."

 

"She arrived not long after you left actually. Not sure why she appeared here, but she did. And she wasn't in the best of shape when she got here either. Her eyes are going really rather strange..."

"Just don't pick on Lake too much, I'd hate to have to listen to a fight between the two of you. Sounds that organic make my flesh crawl these days." Jamei shuddered. Closing her eyes as she did so. But once she's reopened them you could see, on closer inspection, that they were no longer the pearly white orbs they once had been. Rather now the part that was traditionally white in eyes was slowly turning the most ominous shade of navy blue; dark red veins cris-crossed around and under her snowy iris.

 

"is she alright?"he asked now looking worried
