For those not in the know

I think this is pretty true.

I honestly don't understand who has the time, and the patience, to play with dice, or pen and paper. However, from what I've heard about, they can get pretty awesome.

 

Squeenix should have some squiggly lines jutting out from it, especially one big one towards the end, but otherwise yeah that looks about right

The set-up is cumbersome, but once you're actually in-game, long as you have a competent GM the plot moves at a pretty agreeable pace. Fights take a while but that's because they're basically played out in super slo-mo so you have time to think about each move. And there is usually a plot to speak of (again, depending on the GM), it's just that... well sometimes the players have other things on their mind.

Have a look at the web comic series Darths & Droids, it's based around the idea that the whole of the Star Wars Sage is like a Pen and Paper RPG.
Reading that alone actually makes me want to do one. Too bad I know no one geeky enough to do one.

 

Pen and paper rpgs are pretty much the reason why I never go to sleep before 4am every Saturday morning. They're also the only kind of rpg I play anymore, because honestly folks, where else can you build a character with the mannerisms and voice of a woman... No, more feminine than any woman. But it's a guy.

 

Real Life.

 

Real life doesn't have the engine to run that.
