JRPGs are highly linear and accessible to a fault

WRPGs are more linear than they want you to believe and complex to a fault

Pen-and-paper RPGs are who gives a shit I can turn into a goddamn bear

    You forgot AtlusRPG:
Pretty linear plot right up until the end where it turns out that there are multiple endings and which one you get depends on a bunch of really obscure choices that you may or may not have made earlier in the game.

...I was going to shout at you

Then I realized you are absolutely right

EDIT: For that matter, let's add StingRPG: Deceptively linear plot with lots of obtuse symbolism and voices from on high, where you HAVE to consult a guide or else you will be stuck at the halfway point of the game facing a bad ending and having missed a ton of awesome gear and party members you didn't know existed AND SOMEHOW YOU ARE STILL HAVING A BLAST

"J-RPG" and "W-RPG" is only a indication about where the game was made, it says absolutely nothing about the gameplay.
Also there' s no correlation between the scenario complexity and the fact that the game is linear or open-world.
I couldn' t disagree more. The third is probably right though, dunno ...

...Yes it does. What it says is simply not guaranteed in 100% of all cases. You can't say there isn't an over-arching trend in the styles of games from the respective countries. To make such an assertion would be to deny, and perhaps even insult, the unique culture and socio-political environments from which developers, writers, and artists in the field draw their ideas. Those cultures are of course always expanding, and outliers crafting unique experiences on both sides of the ocean, but the trend is there, it's observable, and more importantly, it's fun to poke at.

Bee tee dub, totally missing the point. GJ.

And this is why One Piece is more or less objectively the best of the big three.

So ... saying that J-RPGs have kindergarten-level philosophy is not insulting to the writers ? I' m sure Tetsuya Takahashi would be delighted to hear that. Am I allowed to say that Americans are fat-asses, or that Muslims are terrorists just because it' s a very observable trend ? It would be wrong, and possibly a tad insulting. I guess one could twist such stereotypes to make a funny joke, sure, but the above picture doesn' t exactly have me rolling on the ground.

If the pictures were labeled with adequate game names it would be truer and at least as much funny, wouldn' t it ?
Aw, look at me being all serious in the spam zone, me cheese eating surrender monkey !

    Now that is very true.

    Hold. yo ass. up.

This is why you people got to be more specific. I thought you were responding to the way I explained it. The image? is a joke. It's an exaggeration. It's supposed to be fun-nee. It's picking up on an archetype and drawing it out to absurd lengths to get a cheap laugh. Not to mention it came from the chans so it's going to lean towards abrasiveness. Regardless, you are still very much missing the point.

Now please stow the PoCo mumbo-jumbo and go play yo'self a pen-and-paper RPG bro, it's good fo' yo' soul

Spare me your comebacks Akaz. Deep inside, I know you agree with your post. You would not post it otherwise.

Deep inside, I know that objective value does not exist. Subjectively, I prefer Bleach. I have not given One Piece enough of a chance to judge it yet.
