Final Fantasy IX/X-2: Melodies of the Gullwings

"Just thinking about my family." He said to her.

"Yeah... Everyone helped out at the Iifa Tree. Quina and Lenne were real helpful when we left the continent. Freya, Steiner... and even Beatrix, who I thought was our enemy." he said to her.

 

"Alright." Rikku sat beside him and stared out.

Dagger nodded and sighed.

 

"Well...what is it you want to talk about since you are here?" He asked her.

~

Zidane jumped on board the boat. "You don't have to feel so responsible you know, Dagger." He said to her.

 

"Just wanted to see what you're up to." Rikku grinned at him.

~

"But it was my fault Lindblum and Cleyra was destroyed. And Shuyin might not have joined us then."

~

Seymour set his tea cup and stared at a portal, seeing what the Queen was up to.

 

"Nobody wants you to feel that way. They didn't do it all for you, either. Each was following his own path." Zidane said to her.

Yuri noticed Rikku's grin. "Does this place remind you of Home?" He asked her.

 

Dagger sighed and sat in her seat.

~

"In a way....... I wish Pops didn't have to destroy it though." Rikku sighed, as Yuna hugged her from behind. "He did what he thought was right."

 

Yuri looked at the two girls. "Well, you can rebuild it and make it better than before." He said and sighed. "I wonder what my family thought when I burnt down the house to travel freely."

Zidane stared at Dagger whoese were questioning him sliently. "You are asking yourself why did I come with you?" He asked her.

 

"Right." Yuna and Rikku smiled at each other.

Dagger looked at him surprised.

 

"That is Ipsen's line." Zidane said to her.

~

"Would be nice if I could see it but it's another world and time." Yuri thought and looked at the two as he already knew what they were by Yuna's memoires but he decided to say it anyway.

"Both of you have the same spiral eyes." He said as he looked at them with his new colored eye and his own.

 

"That's the Al Bhed gene for ya." Rikku smiled at him.

Dagger was confused by what he meant.

 

Zidane looked at Dagger. "Ipsen is a character from a play, but he's a real-life
adventurer. I think the play is based on his adventures. It kinda goes like this... Ipsen and his good friend Colin worked at a tavern in Treno. One day, Ipsen got a letter. The letter was so wet from rain that most of the writing was illegible. The only part he could read said "Come back home." Nowadays, we have airships and stuff, but back then, it was really hard to travel. He didn't know why he had to go back, but he got some time off, gathered his things, and set out on his journey home. He walked a thousand leagues through the Mist. Sometimes he was attacked by vicious monsters, but he made it, because his friend Colin was by his side. And then, after much time on the road... He had to ask Colin something. "Why did you come with me?" Zidane explained.

"...From what I hear of the story from Tidus, The Al Bhed were hated because of their use of Machina and not being believers of Yeven as their use of Machina would bring Sin back no matter how much people wished thye would stop." Yuri said and looked at the distance.

"I'd say to hell with Yevon and his teachings, even I did get hated, I'd just smile and grin and say I decide how I live my own life, if you call praying to some god your life, by all means, live it, but I prefer to choose how to live my life and actually attempt to stop Sin instead of getting on my knees." He said to them.

 

Dagger stared at him.

Yuna sighed, "It was hard enough being a High Summoner's daughter, but I'm also half Al-Bhed."

 

"The only reasons they didn't notice your half Al-Bhed is either you were too beautiful to notice the the eyes or because yoru father stopped Sin and they prayed his daughter would suceed and bring the False 'Calm' once again since they knew the Machina was still being used so, Sin could never truly vanish." Yuri said, looking at them.

"And what was Colin's answer? 'Only because I wanted to go with you.'." Zidane said as the boat drifted out of the tunnel.

 

"But Sin did vanish, due to a certain sacrifice........." Yuna sighed and thought of that moment atop her uncle's old airship.

Dagger looked up and stood. "Wow, the town is beautiful from down here. The Eidolon Wall looks like it's on fire." As Dagger stared at the ruins, the strangest vision came to her. She saw a large demonic eye in the sky and houses on fire, she gasped, the weird nostalgic feeling came over her as if she had seen something like this before. She could see Lenne reaching out to her, tears in her eyes, and Mrina holding her back. Lenne was shouting something, but she couldn't hear her words and fainted.

 

Zidane held Dagger. "Dagger! Dagger!? Wake up!" He said and cursed to himself as he rowned the boat back to the tunnel as he carried her to EIko's house.

"Yeah...I saw that moment, you were trying your best not to break down." Yuri mentally said and didn't ask about the certain sacrifice.

"I remember my first time travelling freely, I wasn't scared of what could happen such as bandits attacking, a monster nest, no food or water since I was so focused on becoming strong to defeat that murderer that I quickly adapted to new surroudnings, I guess you could say, I was sort of like the wind, never staying in one place too long." He said.

 

Rikku smiled and Yuna smiled as well.

Lenne gasped when she saw Dagger. She slowly woke up and looked at Lenne.

 

"Hey, your awake Dagger." Zidane said thankfully.

~

"Although..." He looked at the girls. "You two smiling there does make me feel like that being free as the wind isn't that bad as long as I see those happy faces." He said, a bit red.

 

Dagger groaned for a moment and looked at Lenne. "Lenne, you looked so sad......." Lenne looked surprised as she held Eiko in her lap.

Yuna nodded and headed back to the village.

 

Zidane placed Dagger down on her legs, listening.

Yuri watched Yuna leave as he was left with Rikku. "I heard your old man was a stubborn one." Yuri chuckled.

 

"He turned the most scared place in the world, the most important place to Yunie, into a tourist attraction! Good thing the Gullwings put him out of business."

"I can't remember my life before I was six, but I kept having this recurring dream. Someone reaching out to me, crying........."
