Final Fantasy IX/X-2: Melodies of the Gullwings

"You wanna die that bad? I just spared your life." Zidane replied to him calmly.

 

"I just tried to kill you. Why are you letting me go?" Amarant said getting up

 

"The fight's over, and we're both still alive. Good enough, right? We got back what was stolen from us, after all." Zidane said as he stared at Amarant.

 

Amarant handed Zidane back the jewel "listen to you. I lost to a spineless theif" Amarant said

 

Yuna smiled and sighed, Jecht stared at the woman.

 

"The sly eagle doesn't kill at whim." Zidane said as he taken the jewel given him by Amarant as Yuri felt a stare by Tidus as he looked at him who was confused.

"He's refering to pride, if you were beaten by someone stronger than you in a certain event and wished to die by that winner's hand but was spared by him, it dishonors all you worked for." Yuri explained and looked at Amarant.

"Dying is an easy way out because your honor or pride is shattered by that foe but living is a worser punishment than death itself." Yuri said calmly and seriously.

 

Armarant simply jumped away

Tidus looked serious and watched as Amarant left. "Honestly. I know how that feels. After a defeat you have to live it.......but.....through defeat you can learn something new and can rise up to fight again. Its just like when somebody just toys with you instead of going all out like you want them to."

 

The woman smiled at Zidane, her tail swaying slowly. Yuna looked at her, "Who are you?"

 

"Now that is a good question Yuna." Yuri said and turned to her. "From what I heard, Tidus or Yuna never mentioned someone with the same crest as the Zanankand Abes team." Yuri pointed out and Zidane looked at the woman.

"And what's more is, you look exactly like me." Zidane said aloud

 

"I am.... Terya. I can't remember where I come from, expect I was a member of this team. I was born this way for some reason."

 

"Terya? hmmm I don't remember that name at all." Tidus said trying to remember anybody named Terya on his team

 

"Well, i suppose anything is possible now, kidnapping a princess, fighting Black Waltzes, Eidolons, a village of Black Mages, transforming dresses and a huge tree." Zidane trailed off.

"You took a sugarcoated version of our travels there you know." Yuri pointed out and Zidane rubbed behind his head. "It's short and quick. makes things easier." He said.

 

"Which Zanarkand did you live in?" Jecht asked, Terya thought. "I don't remember but it was a short while after a war with a city called Bevelle."

 

"Bevelle? Oh yeah, that place where Yuna was forced into marriage by Seymour at the cost of her Guardians. Yuri thought to himself. "Last I remember from what Tidus told me from his story, Zanarkand was a peaceful town, I can't see that city-" Yuri cut himself off as he remembered something from a memory.

"The Machina War." Yuri said aloud and Zidane was puzzled. "Machina?" He asked

 

"Machina means machines on Spira. The Machina War is what caused Sin to appear."

 

"I never heard about any wars in Zanarkand. Like you said Zanarkand is a peaceful place" Tidus said

 

Zidane was a bit confused about who this Sin character was. "I heard from Tidus's story that Zanarkand was complete with machines in almost an everyday basis and the whole of Spira was the same, however, the people thought Sin was created from them abusing the Machina and they figured that atonement was really the only choice for it go away." He said and took a breather.

"And Spira forbade using Machina which was bad but allowed some which were good." He said and Zidane scratched hsi head. "If the machines are that bad, why did Yuna's home decide on good ones?" He asked Yuri and Yuri looked at at the group.

"This is from what I heard from Tidus while he told me the story, they use Machina to play their own favourite sport, Blitzball and these spheres which record what you want to show to your family, friends etc but the fact of Spira was a lie, the temple of Yevon held this world's Eidolon's but different ones and they forbade the use of Machina until Bevelle shown it's true colors, using Machina to get to their Eidolons."

"So...What happened when Yuna found out about this lie?" He asked her.

 

Yuna sighed, "Me and my guardians were arrested for attempt to kill Seymour but he was already dead."

 

Tidus crossed his arms and then scratched the back of his head. "err......huh? what?" Tidus said totally confused

 

Zidane blinked. "Eh? But Seymour was alive, I mean, I saw him at the Red Rose!" He said and Yuri looked at Zidane.

"Yuna's world is different to our own, whenever someone dies, Yuna peforms a Sending to send the souls to the Farplane, consider it...heaven in our world right now."

Zidane nodded. "Right...so he didn't...get a Sending?" Zidane asked confused as Tidus and Yuri clicked his fingers. "Whenever a soul stays in Spira, it becomes a monster while here, the Mist changed innocent and docile creatures into beasts." He explained and Zidane looked at them. "But he sure didn't look like he was sent there." He thought and Yuri nodded.

"Yuna did send Seymour to the Farplane after they managed to get inside Sin but if one has enough will, they could escape like how Seymour's father attempted to." He said and Zidane was confused.

"I honestly don't get it." He said confused.
