Dream Drop Distance Final boss help (Spoilers!)

    So I'm fighting Nightmare Armor Ventus and I'm able to get his HP to 1 before he used that desperation move and I have no idea how to dodge his attacks and thus he easily defeats me. Am I just supposed to press A at the right timing? And if so, when?

    I beat him pretty easily on my first try. But then again I was playing Beginner Mode so go figure.

    Balloonga wouldn't help at all with that, seeing as how the only command you can use is the one associated with A.

    Seeing as he can go into his final attack when he's at low hp or 1 hp that is really hard to do. The best way I've beat this final form is to wait until he attacks first then right after attack. That always works but I've had times where he won't attack until you attack first so in that case attack first which will damage you then afterwards wait until he attacks and follow up immediately with your attack.
