Fast Food Madness: The Epic Return

"Yeah..." Sora said sheepishly, a grin staying on his face. He and Roxas did manage to get into some trouble, but that was because they were so goofy and competitive together.

 

Kairi shook her head as she gathered a few items off the counter, walking over to the cupboards to put them away. She was just thankful she got her ingredients before her family got home in a few days.

Roxas's laughter died down, the boy looking at three of the four bags that were still full. "That was probably the most exciting trip to the store I've ever had," he said with a smile. He couldn't deny it; it wasn't every day he went racing around the supermarket, and then end up getting chased out of there.

 

Sora chuckled and turned to look at his friend. "I don't think there'll ever be a shopping trip that tops that one," he said with a grin. After all, they probably couldn't risk pulling a stunt like that again without getting into serious trouble.

 

Roxas nodded, smiling. "I agree one-hundred percent," he said. An event like that was hard to beat.

Kairi came back over to the island and reached into another bag, beginning to pull out the items. "Did you tell Namine about this yet?" she asked both boys. She was curious to know what her friend thought about this whole thing.

"Not yet," Roxas said with a shake of his head. "I wonder what she would say..." He remembered thinking Namine would find it humorous as well. She probably would, but he didn't know for sure until he told her.

 

Sora nodded slightly, folding his arms across his chest. Yeah...Namine. She would probably find out about all this now that Kairi knew. After all, it wasn't easy keeping secrets in such a close group. That was something he was glad for, actually. The bond he had with his friends was...indescribable. In a very, very good way.

 

Kairi smiled at the blond boy. "I'm sure she'll enjoy the story," she assured him. "She knows how goofy you two are together just as well as I do. Namine will probably find it funny too." Kairi walked over to the fridge, putting things away.

Roxas rested his elbows against the island, nodding in agreement. That was one of the things he loved most about Namine, and his friends; they all got along really well, and understood each other. No matter how goofy they were, they were still accepted.

 

"Probably right," Sora agreed, a soft smile appearing on his lips. Kairi knew Namine in a way that nobody else did...the two were closer than sisters. And if Kairi thought Namine would find the story humorous, then she would.

 

Kairi continued putting the groceries away, enjoying the company the boys brought her. That was something she loved about being friends with them, all three of them. They brought her comfort and happiness, no matter what. It was a strong bond to have, and she wouldn't have it any other way.

Roxas kept the beautiful blonde on his mind when the kitchen went silent. He wondered what Namine was doing, and how much trouble Ty was in for the mess he made. Surely that was cleaned up by now, so he couldn't help but wonder what she was up to.

 

After she had finished cleaning up Ty's mess, Namine had taken a shower herself and sat down on the couch. At the current moment, she was reading a book she had been meaning to catch up on. She was home alone with her pet, and the peace and quiet was quite soothing.

 

Whatever she was doing, Roxas wouldn't disturb her. He respected her privacy, and if she wanted to get together, she would inform him. He wasn't going to drop in on her alone time. That was the thing with their relationship--respect. It had never been a problem before, and Roxas wasn't going to make it one now.

 

Sora sat in silence, feeling calm and happy. He was glad Kairi wasn't upset anymore, because whenever she was upset, so was he. It was just how they connected. Because of their hearts being connected, he often felt things she felt, or at least sensed her emotions. It was his duty to make her happy to matter what the circumstances were, so he tried not to be sad either, since the connection worked both ways.

 

A few days later...

Kairi was busy getting plates and bowls out for her cooking needs. Her parents were coming home this evening, and she was preparing a meal for their homecoming. Sora and Roxas, as goofy as the trip had been, got her supplies for her, so she was all set. All she had to to do was fix the meal, and she would be good to go.

 

Sora was just approaching Kairi's house when he felt a cool gust of wind go through his spikes. He was actually surprising her...he knew that she was busy with stuff for her meal, but he wanted to stop by and see if he could help out in any way. Even if he didn't know squat about cooking or baking, he could follow orders pretty well.

 

Kairi set the supplies and utensils up neatly on both the counter and the island, knowing she would need the room. She grabbed her cooking apron and began to put it on, listening to just the birds chirp outside her kitchen window.

 

Sora stopped in front of Kairi's door and lifted his hand, bringing one hand forward to ring the doorbell. He heard the gentle chime and he lowered his hand back to his side, patiently waiting for Kairi to answer the door.

 

Kairi turned in the direction of the foyer, just outside the kitchen. She furrowed her eyebrows in confusion; she wasn't expecting any guests. The girl proceeded to tie her black apron as she made her way to the door, stopping and opening it. Her eyes widened at the sight of the one and only boy she loved with all her heart. "Sora?"

 

Sora felt himself become a little sheepish at Kairi's surprised expression. "Hey, Kai," he greeted, smiling kindly. "I...uh, I know you're busy, but I was wondering...do you want help with anything?"

 

The size of Kairi's eyes lessened as she smiled softly, both at Sora's offer and the cute look on his face. "Sure," she said with acceptance, opening the door more and moving out of the way. "Come on in."

 

Sora nodded softly and smiled sweetly at Kairi, feeling like a child. He had no clue what to do...and she had a right to know that. "Just to warn you," he started, turning around to face the girl after he was inside the house, "I know nothing about cooking or baking."

 

Kairi shut the door and looked at Sora with a smile. "That's okay. You learn something new every day, right?" she said, passing him as she made her way to the kitchen. She was sure he could handle it...maybe.
