Fast Food Madness: The Epic Return

Sora smirked and nodded, turning his head forward as he placed his feet beneath him. "Ready," he said simply, looking straight ahead.

 

Roxas smirked. "Three..." He tightend his grip on his bags, but made sure to be careful with the one tucked under his arm. "Two... One... Go!" he cried, and then he was off, his feet moving fast as he headed toward the turn to take the exit.

 

Sora took off at the same moment his best friend did, the teen right by Roxas' side as they raced toward the exit. He wasn't going as fast as he could have, since he had to be careful not to swing his bags and hit something that could damage what they had bought.

 

Roxas gripped the bag in his right hand tighter, feeling it swinging a little. Once it was secure, he picked his pace up a little more. But then he heard yelling.

"Hey! No running!" the man yelled. "What do you think you're doing?!"

The authoritive scream surprised Roxas, and he neglected to notice the yellow sign on the floor in front of him, warning him of a wet floor. He slid a little, and his foot barely nudged the tower-formation of cans nearby. He landed on his side, the eggs safe from harm under his arm. He stared up as the cans slowly shook, and then one underneath fell.

 

Sora's eyes widened, the teen only missing Roxas' fall because he had noticed the wet floor sign. He he first saw Roxas slip, Sora jumped and landed over on the other side of the wet floor sign, where things weren't extremely slippery. He caught his balance by taking a few slower steps forward, and then he turned around, his wide eyes catching onto Roxas and an angry store employee off a little ways.

 

"Uh-oh..." Roxas muttered, wide eyes watching the can fall, and then one can after another began to go down. He pushed himself up quickly, his head automatically turning to see the angry man that had screamed at them was now infuriated. His face was red with anger and he started to run toward Roxas and Sora. Roxas's eyes grew and he immediately started running again. "Run!" he cried.

 

Sora didn't hesitate at Roxas' cry. He had seen that man start steaming, and he knew they had to get out of there before they were harassed. He charged forward, running quickly and catching up with Roxas in a few steps.

 

Roxas approached the exit quickly, but the doors weren't opening fast enough. He used the hand holding onto the bag to attempt to push the door open more as he squeezed through it, his charge still at full speed. He ran outside into the sunshine, still running with the knowledge that the store clerk was bound to chase them out.

 

Since Sora had seen they wouldn't both be able to slide through the doors, he had subconsciously fallen a step behind Roxas, knowing that them crashing into the doors wouldn't be good--in fact, it would only get them in more trouble. He made it through the doors and raced after Roxas, not stopping his run.

 

Roxas darted across the parking lot to the supermarket, risking a glance back once he had made it a good distance away from the building. He saw Sora right behind him, and the store clerk at the exit. He was screaming at them, and Roxas turned around to continue running, hoping he wouldn't collide with something else today.

 

Sora heard the man's yelling get softer as they kept running, so he had a feeling the man wasn't following them. At least...he hoped he wasn't. That wouldn't have been fun. Sure, he and Roxas could easily out run him, but that would take time, and Kairi was probably already wondering where they were.

 

Roxas took a turn down the street and knew that they were no longer near the store, the angered cries now silent. He came to a slow stop, tilting his head back as he tried to catch his breath. He found himself releasing a few laughs at what just happened, not believing that he and Sora had just raced around the store and hadn't gotten caught, but the one time they're near the exit they get in trouble. It was ironic, but fun all the same.

 

Sora came to a stop a few steps away from Roxas, the teen leaning against a building as he caught his breath. He wasn't sure at first if Roxas was laughing or not, but now it was clear that he was. Sora caught onto why his friend was laughing and chuckled, finding the whole situation amusing.

 

Roxas let a few more chuckles escape before letting his head drop, sighing both with relief and exhaustion. "Man, can you believe we got caught at the last second?" he asked in amusement, turning toward Sora. It was just their luck that something of the sort would happen.

 

Sora chuckled, looking over at Roxas. "Seriously, man," he said with a few more laughs. They would have that kind of luck...wouldn't they? But hey, it was all fun, since they weren't caught and punished.

 

Roxas shook his head, looking down at the concrete. "I'm definitely gonna have to tell Namine about this," he said, humor evident in his voice. He wondered what she would think of it... She'd probably find it amusing, but most likely scold him for doing something so ridiculous in a store.

 

Sora chuckled slightly, the brunette thinking the opposite of what Roxas was considering. "I'm not gonna tell Kairi," he confessed aloud. "She'd probably scold me more than laugh at the situation."

 

Roxas laughed lightly, nodding in agreement. "You're probably right," he said with a teasing smile. He imagined Kairi would, especially with her groceries.

 

Sora smiled and suddenly remembered once again that he had to deliver these groceries to Kairi. He unraveled one of the bags around his hand and held the two bags in one hand. He reached into his pocket and flipped open his cell phone, his eyes widening at the time. "I think I'm already gonna be scolded for being so late," he said as he put away his phone. He'd have to hurry over to her house right away.

 

Roxas's smile dimmed at the words, arching a brow. "Huh?" He untwisted one of the bags from his wrist and carefully lowered the one holding the eggs to the other hand. "What time is it?"
