Fast Food Madness: The Epic Return

Sora pushed off at the exact same time as Roxas, a foot on the rack as he moved forward at a fast rate. His friend wasn't going to get to the baking soda first; Sora had an advantage because he would be able to take the turn out of the isle more widely and keep up his speed. He was going to win; he was sure of it.

 

Roxas pushed on, approaching the end of the aisle. He needed to reach that baking soda to try to beat Sora. He knew it was kind of useless, considering Sora was winning by two items anyway. Ah well, it was at least for the fun of it.

 

Sora rounded the corner wide, keeping up his speed and being careful not to hit Roxas. He turned into the isle next door to the one they were previously in and rushed down it, eyes looking over the shelves for the item.

 

Roxas was half a cart length behind Sora when they reached the aisle, and he continued pushing with his foot so he could gain a little speed. His eyes darted along the shelves, looking for the baking soda.

 

Sora saw the item coming up on his side and he glided over the ground, standing on the back of his cart as he reached out and grabbed the baking soda. "Ha!" he cried out in victory, slowing himself down as he placed the baking component in his cart.

 

Roxas placed his feet down, immediately stopping once Sora had officially won this one. "Alright, you win--fair and square," he said with a small smile. All the items were checked off the list, meaning they were done here.

 

Sora grinned and slowed the cart to a point where he could turn it around in the other direction, the teen now facing Roxas. "Of course," he said with a knowing smile. "I always win." Okay, not always; just a little more often than Roxas did.

 

Roxas rolled his eyes and shook his head, but in good nature. This was just a game after all. "Alright, well, we're done," he said. "Let's get this stuff to the register. Kairi's probably waiting for us to get back." She was the one who sent them--well, sent Roxas to get Sora and then go to the store.

 

Sora grinned, running a hand over the back of his head. Right...he had gotten so wrapped up in the competition he had forgotten about the whole reason they were shopping. "Oh yeah," he said with a sheepish smile. He hoped Kairi wouldn't ask what took them so long; she probably wouldn't like them fooling around and knocking stuff over in the supermarket.

 

Roxas chuckled, this time pushing his cart normally as he started Sora's way. "C'mon," he said, motioning with his hand for the brunet to come with him. They needed to check this stuff out.

 

Sora turned his cart and followed after Roxas, a silly smile still on his lips. That competition had been a lot of fun. Of course, coming out the victor made him feel pretty happy, too.

 

Roxas just then remembered the second reason for this trip--to help Sora feel better. If he was correct, Roxas noticed that Sora really had forgotten all about the mess today. Hey, he did too. He guessed a competitive shopping trip really did the trick.

 

Sora smiled and gripped the cart in a relaxed way, his eyes wandering down to the products he had managed to snatch before Roxas. He wondered what Kairi had in mind for her dinner--it looked like she was at least baking one item. Or multiples, if it were cookies. He'd have to ask her later.

 

In a few moments, Roxas saw the checkout lanes ahead. He looked down at his cart, seeing a just a few items compared to Sora's. Oh well, it was just for fun, right?

 

Sora suddenly thought of something and put a hand on his side pocket, feeling that he didn't have his wallet on him. "You have money, right?" he asked Roxas.

 

Roxas pushed his cart up to the register with a nod. "Yup," he said, then reaching into his pocket and pulling out his wallet, which held the money Kairi had given him to cover the cost of the groceries.

 

Sora smiled; it was a good thing Roxas was so responsible. Knowing how forgetful the brunet was sometimes, he had a feeling that if he were in Roxas' position he may have forgotten the money.

 

Roxas started loading his stuff onto the counter with one hand, the other holding his wallet. He really wasn't sure how much this was going to cost, but he was sure Kairi knew well enough. She had given him the money, so she obviously had an estimate.

 

Sora reached into his cart and put them on the line as well, using both his hands without paying much attention to what Roxas was doing.

 

Once the few items in his cart were placed on the counter, Roxas pushed his cart forward a little so he could pay. He watched the woman working the register scan the foods he and Sora had bought today. He was kind of relieved that they hadn't gotten caught, but also kind of surprised. They'd both crashed, and the only reaction Roxas had noticed was some man asking what the noise was.
