Fast Food Madness: The Epic Return

Sora caught Roxas' eye for a moment and furrowed his brows, seeing the competitiveness in his friend's expression. "You're not gonna win that easy," he mumbled as he pushed himself forward, hurrying to catch up.

 

Roxas pressed his lips together as he came closer to the colder part of the store, near where the eggs would be. His smile was gone as he focused on at least grabbing one more item before this whole thing ended. They had a few more items on the list, so this race was close to being over.

 

Sora raced on, not far behind Roxas but not extremely close. He probably wasn't going to get the eggs in time, but he at least would have a chance with the next item...whatever that was.

 

Roxas turned again, going down the long aisle that held the eggs. He saw them just a little bit away and leaned to the side a little as he passed, grabbing a carton of them as he continued to glide by. He set them down in his cart carefully as to not crush them.

 

Sora rounded the corner just in time to see Roxas grabbing the carton. He slowed himself down gradually, not wanting to collide with his friend, who was distracted with being careful with the eggs.

 

Roxas heard the sound of a cart next to him and turned his head as he continued rolling, seeing that it was Sora. He smiled. "Another down, a few more to go," he said, then lifting the list so he could see what else they had to get. "Alright, next is chocolate chips."

 

Sora smirked, suddenly coming up with an idea. He turned and looked over his shoulder, pretending to see somebody. "Hey Namine!" he called out in greeting. But because nobody was there, he started moving, the boy and his cart blowing past Roxas in the other direction

 

Roxas looked up at the name. "What?" he started, looking for the girl he loved. But then he noticed that Sora was actually lying. "Hey! No fair!" he called after his friend, putting his hand back on the handlebar, pushing off.

 

Sora laughed, already rounding the corner. It was a cheap trick, but he owed Roxas for the head start his friend had taken earlier. He grinned and looked up at the signs, seeing the isle he wanted just a little bit away.

 

Roxas was about to take off after Sora, but he already knew his friend had the advantage at getting the chocolate chips. Looking at the list again as he rolled by, he saw that there was also some brown sugar needed. That was near the chocolate chips, actually. Roxas decided to head in the same direction as Sora, but instead went a different way, so he would be at the other end of the aisle as his friend.

 

Sora slowed himself and turned into the isle, the item he needing being right near the end. He smiled and stopped the cart as he grabbed the chips, a victorious gin on his lips. "Got it!" he hollered, looking around for his friend. Where'd he go?

 

Roxas rounded the corner, having reached the same aisle as his friend. He saw Sora ahead of him and he grinned. "Brown sugar," he said simply, passing the item by and grabbing it as he did so.

 

Sora's eyes widened at Roxas' actions. That was no fair! "Hey, that's cheating!" he cried, pointing a finger at his friend from the other side of the isle.

 

Roxas shrugged, smirking as he rolled to a stop a foot from his friend. "So was the 'Namine' card you pulled," he reasoned. He laughed. "Besides, you're winning." Roxas motioned to the items that were in Sora's cart, pointing out that Sora had more items than he did himself.

 

"Hmph," Sora pouted, crossing his arms. "You got a head start on me before," he reminded Roxas. "It was only fair if I got one as well." That was only fair, of course, that Sora definitely won now because of Roxas' cheat. Besides, he was sure the list was coming to a close anyway.

 

Roxas smirked. "Okay, then," he started, looking at the list. "We have one more thing to get." He memorized the item and handed the list over to Sora, looking him in the eye. "How about we make this one a fair start?"

 

Sora took the list out of Roxas' hand and scanned the whole thing before looking to the last item, catching onto its name, written in Kairi's neat handwriting. "Sounds good," he said, agreeing that they should get a fair start for this one.

 

Roxas nodded. "Okay." He turned his cart around and then backed up so he was standing side-by-side with Sora. "On the count of three," he stated, looking at his friend. Roxas's eyes then focused forward, the boy readying his feet and gripping the bar. "One..."

 

Sora stuffed the list in his pocket and looked forward, a serious look appearing on his face. He had to get this first...he wouldn't let Roxas be victorious. He set his footing and stared straight ahead, listening to the countdown.

 

"Two..." Roxas said, getting ready and slightly lowering himself in anticipation. "Three!" he cried, immediately pushing forward. He and Sora were going to have a fair race for this one.
