Fast Food Madness: The Epic Return

Sora felt like the cart was slowing him down, so he pushed it out of the way and ran the last few steps, a hand grabbing onto a box of pasta.

 

Roxas's eyes widened, seeing the cart Sora had pushed out of the way right in his path. "Whoa!" he cried, putting his foot down. However, it didn't work; he squeezed his eyes shut at the loud crashing noise the carts made when they collided, the blond falling backward and landing on the ground as a result.

 

Sora winced at the sound of the impact, the box falling to the ground. Since when had Roxas been on that side of the isle?! He could have sworn they were on the same side..."You okay, man?" he rushed over, forgetting about the competition.

 

Roxas sat up, hands supporting his weight, and shook his head as he blinked. He looked up at Sora and nodded. "Yup," he said, laughing a little. It was his fault, he supposed. He should have stopped when he saw Sora push the cart away, but instead he swerved so he wouldn't hit Sora with his own cart. That, of course, caused the collision. Roxas ran his hand back and forth through his blond hair, an embarrassed yet amused smile on his face.

 

Sora grinned sheepishly, partially to blame for the whole thing. He should have just kept his cart on him; then maybe things would have ended differently. Ah, well, it didn't matter now. He took a step closer to his friend and extended a hand to help Roxas up.

 

Roxas took Sora's hand and began to bring himself off the floor. "Thanks, man," he said, nodding to his best friend once he was standing. He looked at the carts a few feet away, seeing that one of them had hit the row of shelves, pushing a few stocked items back. Roxas began to wonder if anyone heard the crash, considering how it echoed so easily in here when nobody was shopping.

 

Sora nodded wordlessly and ran his hand over the back of his head, his eyes wandering over to the carts. The mess wasn't as bad as he suspected; they had gotten pretty lucky with that part of it.

 

"What was that noise?" someone in the store yelled, though it was faint.

Roxas noted that the man sounded almost angry, and he quickly turned to Sora. "We better get this cleaned up," he suggested. He heard more murmuring. "And I'd say we better do it fast."

 

Sora met Roxas' eyes and nodded before hurrying over to the carts, grabbing onto his and propping it upright quickly. He pulled it back out of the way so he could get to the items moved by the impact.

 

Roxas followed Sora's lead, pulling back his cart, which had thankfully not tipped over. He picked up the items that had fallen out of Sora's cart and placed them back in the basket before moving to help Sora rearrange the items on the shelves.

 

Sora knelt down in front of the shelves and pulled a few items closer to the front, arranging them so that they were perfectly orderly again.

 

After a minute of putting everything back to the way it was, Roxas stood up straight and looked at Sora. "Time to get the rest of the list, I guess," he said, rubbing the back of his head.

 

"Guess so," Sora said as he rose to his feet, sheepishly shrugging. He suddenly remembered that he put down the noodles before and he took two steps over, grabbing it and putting it into his cart.

 

Roxas looked around, noticing he was missing something. He saw the list on the floor and picked it up, holding it between his fingers. "So..." Roxas looked up at Sora. "Shall we continue?"

 

Sora chuckled. Of course Roxas would want to keep the competition going; he was losing at that moment. "Sure, why not?" Sora said with a smile.

 

"Great!" Roxas said with enthusiasm, grabbing his cart and beginning to take off. He passed Sora and grinned. "Next is eggs!" he called, already moving down the aisle.

 

Sora followed Roxas' movement with wide eyes. "Hey!" he shouted, rushing after the blond with his cart. Head starts are no fair! he mentally called out, scolding his best friend.

 

Roxas started laughing, turning at the corner once he reached the end of the aisle. He could hear Sora's cart behind him and knew he had to make it to the eggs fast. He put a foot down and started pushing like he would do with his skateboard, gripping onto the handle.

 

Sora had trouble with the turn and had to slow himself down before correcting his course, a laugh leaving his lips at the hilarity of this competition.

 

Roxas glanced over his shoulder, a competitive grin appearing on his lips when he saw Sora come out of the previous aisle. He pushed a few more times with his foot before allowing himself to glide across the floor on his cart, heading toward the eggs aisle.
