Fast Food Madness: The Epic Return

"Besides," Brock continued, holding Sora's glare without a problem. "If she couldn't move out of the way quickly enough, then it's her problem," he stated darkly. "She must have deserved it."

That did it for Sora. He couldn't restrain himself any further while this punk kept bad-mouthing and insulting Kairi. He brought up and arm and barred it across Brock's chest, backing the teen up against a wall roughly. "How dare you!?" he hissed through clenched teeth. He was shocked and appalled over this, but his anger was the most apparent thing now.

Namine's eyes widened even further when she saw what Sora was doing. This can't possibly end well...she thought to herself, her eyes never leaving the scene outside the pool.

 

Kairi's eyes widened, both at the guy's remark and at the action Sora took. She hated to see him so angry, so she turned away, facing a little more toward Namine.

Samantha wasn't sure what to do. She gasped at the sight, but a part of her knew that Brock could take this punk down.

Roxas's eyes widened and he climbed the stairs out of the pool quickly. He then rushed over to where the trio was standing. "Sora!" he cried, moving over to his friend. Roxas wrapped an arm around the front of Sora's chest and shoulders, the other hand on the shoulder closest to him. "He's not worth it, man. He's not worth it," he said lowly, his voice firm. Roxas knew he had to talk some sense into Sora, or at least calm him down.

 

Sora growled softly, his eyes wandering down to the arm around him and then back to the guy in front of him. True, this punk wasn't worth it. But beating him up would make Sora feel better...or would it? He wasn't so sure. "Let me go, Roxas," Sora said in a low voice, his eyes not leaving Brock.

Brock furrowed his brows, deciding not to move. He was sure that the blond haired kid could restrain the other one and he wouldn't have to do anything at all.

 

Roxas kept his hold, still able to tell that Sora was seething with anger. "Stop, Sora. You know this isn't you," he said lowly, his eyebrows furrowed as he stared at his friend. "Think of Kairi. She needs you." Roxas glanced out of the corner of his eye at the guy who started all of this, his stare turning into a brief glare before he turned his attention back to his best friend.

Samantha took a step closer to the three boys, the girl glaring at the brown-spikey-haired kid. Who did this punk think he was?

Kairi let her hand finally fall from her cheek, the girl facing the opposite direction.

 

Sora blinked at the mention of Kairi, his heart skipping a beat. She was probably watching this...But he couldn't let Brock get away with being a part of this...could he? "Let go," he said again, though his voice held a little bit of doubt as to what course of action he would take if he was released anyway. Roxas was starting to get through to him...a little.

Brock glared at Sora, but he still didn't move. There was no point in doing anything now as long as this Roxas kid controlled his friend. But if anything changed, then Brock wouldn't be the one taking a punch; it would definitely be Sora.

Namine supportability put a hand on Kairi's shoulder, her eyes never leaving the three boys by the side of the pool. She didn't dare look away; she might miss something. Even though it was unpleasant to see, she couldn't turn away, either.

 

Samantha took a few steps closer. "Can you back off now?" she asked rudely, crossing her arms after tucking some of her brown hair behind her ear. This whole thing was embarrassing, and she definitely didn't like being embarrassed. She was almost positive Brock was the same.

Roxas turned his head and glared at the brunette next to the guy who Sora was willing to fight. He focused back on Sora, seeing only the side of his face. Though his best friend sounded a little less confident, Roxas wasn't sure he should let go just yet. "I mean it, man. You don't resort to violence unless you absolutely have to," he reminded Sora. Then his voice got a little firmer at a memory. "You know when you need to use it, and this isn't one of those times." The warehouse and kidnapping popped up briefly, but Roxas pushed them away immediately, focusing on calming Sora down.

 

Sora felt his urge to fight get stronger when the brown-haired girl spoke. If he hadn't been preoccupied, he might have made a move against her. He blinked at the thought, suddenly realizing just how wound up he was, both because of his last thought and because of what Roxas was saying to him. I shouldn't be doing this...he thought, his body becoming a little bit less tense.

 

Roxas loosened his hold a little, but he didn't let go. "You should go check on Kairi," he insisted. It was quiet, and Roxas realized then that everyone nearby was watching them. However, he continued watching Sora, making sure he didn't do something he would regret. Yes, Roxas believed Sora had all the reason in the world to be mad, but it wasn't who he was to resort to violence, not unless it was life or death.

Kairi needed to get out of the pool, not comfortable with the silence or what was going on here. Being soaking wet was really the last thing she needed at this point, even if Namine's supporting hand helped a little.

 

Sora nodded wordlessly at Roxas' statement, but he didn't take his eyes off Brock, not trusting the teen. "Let me go and we'll leave," he promised Roxas calmly. Really, he did mean it--he suddenly had no urge to start a fight. Like Roxas said, this guy just wasn't worth it.

Brock wisely stayed silent, knowing that the only reason he wasn't in the middle of a fight at that moment was because of Roxas. He did enjoy fights, though...

"Let's get out of the water," Namine said really softly to Kairi, noticing that things seemed to have been calming down with Sora and Roxas. She was sure they wouldn't be swimming again today.

 

Roxas silently let his arms come back to his sides, the boy still looking at his friend. He felt bad that this had to happen--that Kairi had to go through the experience, that Sora had to get so angry about it, and that these two jerks before him had to even do such a thing.

Kairi nodded without a word. She turned around to face the stairs again and started climbing out, wanting to get dried off.

 

Sora didn't look at Roxas or Samantha. He turned his head and started walking over to the tables without a word, picking up his shirt and slipping it on without bothering to dry off. Since he had been steaming with anger, he felt as if all the water had evaporated off him.

Namine climbed out right after Kairi, the girl looking at Roxas for a moment. She was glad he had been able to calm Sora down; she hadn't been expecting things to get better after how angry Sora had appeared.

As soon as Sora moved, Brock took a step over by his girlfriend, giving her a sheepish grin. He could tell she was embarrassed by all this, and he was too. But he didn't regret the action they took during the game--not at all.

 

Roxas watched Sora go for a second, the blond then turning his head to glare at the two that decided to ruin their fun at the pool. He turned around to follow Sora, glancing at the girls. He saw Kairi getting out of the pool, and then his eyes landed on Namine. Roxas gave her a nod, as if signifying that things were better now. Not good, but better than worse.

Kairi crossed her arms as she got out of the pool. She wasn't cold, but embarrassed by what everyone had seen. She could feel people's eyes on her, which made her duck her head as she walked along the cement to reach their table, water dripping down her legs.

Samantha looked at Brock and sighed, turning around to get her things again. Aside from the little confrontation, she had a good day. But that was over and done with, and she knew that this embarrassment would most likely wear off when she and Brock overcomed another obstacle during the day. She was sure it wouldn't be Chicken, though.

 

Sora didn't bother wiping himself off or anything; it was taking all his strength not to look back over at Brock and his girlfriend. He was refusing to look because he knew if he did, he would most likely snap. The brunette took a few steps away from the table, ruffling his hair slightly as he tried to completely destroy his bitter feelings and anger.

Namine returned Roxas' nod and then headed over to the table herself, drying herself off before she slipped on her capris again. And then she put on her tank top after she dried her hair a little bit.

Brock turned to look across the pool, seeing that the lifeguard had been completely unaware of everything that just happened. He looked at the water, considering something.

 

Kairi approached the table, grabbing her towel and beginning to dry off. And everyone had been having so much fun... Then this had to happen. She rang out her hair with her towel before putting on her clothes again, ready to leave as soon as possible.

Roxas joined his friends at the table, hearing the small murmurs of people as they started to get back to their own business. He grabbed his towel off the chair and ran it over his hair and back before pulling his t-shirt back over it. He could tell his friends were ready to leave.

Samantha grabbed her towel that she had thrown on the chair next to her during the encounter. She wrapped it around her body and tucked it to keep it in place, not bothering to notice what Brock was doing.

 

Sora turned back to the table, seeing that his friends were pretty much ready. "Ready when you are," he said calmly, his voice tense but not showing anger. He just wanted to leave, before he did something he regret.

Namine wordlessly nodded to Sora as she grabbed her bag and slipped it over her shoulder, having just put her wet towel back in. She headed for the exit, knowing the others would be right behind her.

Brock took a step closer to the pool, looking down without saying anything. Yeah....he had made up his mind now.

 

Kairi followed Namine silently, bag slung over her shoulder with her things inside. She just wanted to go home now, to forget about the hit she took. It was unecessary and unfortunate, and she didn't want to think about it anymore.

Roxas nodded and passed Sora, following the two girls. He didn't look back at the people around the pool, not wanting to get angrier than he already was. The reason why he was angry: He didn't like when people picked on his friends. Kairi was one of his good friends, and the fact that she was smacked, well... That wasn't okay with Roxas, but he knew Sora felt more anger about it than he did.

Samantha turned around to say something to Brock, but then she arched an eyebrow. "Brock, what are you doing?" she asked.

 

Brock turned to Samantha, a smile forming on his lips. "I'm gonna have some fun," he told her softly, grinning. He noticed everyone but Sora pass him, and then he waited until Sora was one step past him before he spoke. "Hey, freak!" he called, turning to face the teen.

Namine's eyes widened when she heard Brock's voice. Though she knew it wasn't directed at her, she turned around and looked anyway.

Sora whirled around at the voice, staying silent. He made no move to attack Brock, though the teen was practically asking for it. Instead, he stood his ground, his hands not clenched into fists. That way, Roxas would know that there was no need to step in this time. Sora had himself under control...for the most part.

 

Kairi wasn't sure what was going on when she turned around, her grip tightening around the handle of her bag. She didn't want anymore conflict; she just wanted to go home. What more could this guy want?

Roxas turned around as well. He looked from Brock to Sora and then back. Being the closest, he prepared himself in case he needed to step in again. But by Sora's posture, Roxas could tell that it wasn't needed at the moment.

Samantha watched with curious eyes, not sure what was going through her boyfriend's mind.

 

Brock smirked and moved one step closer to Sora. "Hope you're ready," he said simply, bringing back a fist and then swinging it directly at Sora.

Sora's eyes widened and he instinctively acted in self defense. He grabbed onto Brock's fist before it could impact him and then tugged at the teen, sending him flying past him and into the pool. The crowd around him gasped in shock, falling silent again. Sora stared blankly at the water, his hands loosely by his sides again.

Namine was shocked. Simply shocked at what was happening. But she was also grateful that Sora wasn't as angry as before; it was clear that the brunette didn't want a fight.

 

Kairi's eyes widened, the girl bringing a hand to her mouth. Of course, she was grateful that Sora didn't get hit like she did, and that he didn't want to get into a fight anymore. But the action still surprised her.

Roxas watched the guy fall into the water and his eyes grew slightly, but not as much as expected. This, however, was what he liked to call "revenge". The guy deserved it, that was for sure.

Samantha gasped. "Brock!" she cried instantly, rushing over to the water's edge and bending down to see him under the water.
