Fast Food Madness: The Epic Return

"Get ready, Kai," Sora told her expectantly, his eyes staying on the couple. He took a few steps forward and met them, his eyes staying on the boy on the bottom. He gave Brock a small smile, as if to tell him "good luck".

Brock returned Sora's smile, but it wasn't pleasant at all. It looked more like a scowl than anything else, actually. He and Sammy would have no problem beating these two, that was for sure.

 

Kairi stayed silent, trying to focus. The couple appeared to be the same age as them, but their personalities seeped with extreme differences.

Samantha had a hand on Brock's head, but she brought it up, pushing her brown hair behind her ear. "Hope you're ready," she told the two before her. She didn't expect them to put up much of a fight, though.

 

Sora nodded slightly, tightening his grip on Kairi's legs again. "Good luck," he said aloud, deciding to be polite even if the other boy didn't seem interested. It was only a game, and he didn't want to let the other boy's attitude bother him.

Brock didn't respond, but he looked up slightly at the girl on his shoulders. He was ready to start whenever she was.

 

Samantha's smile grew a little and she instantly drew her arms up and brought them to Kairi's shoulders. If there was one thing that she and her boyfriend had in common, it was their competitiveness.

Kairi immediately raised her arms to grasp Samantha's shoulders, the only sign of surprise being her eyes blinking. Rough start, and she was sure it was going to be rough throughout the rest.

 

Sora almost scoffed at the rudeness of the two teens. But no, that would show he was affected by it. He stayed silent, focusing on keeping his grip on Kairi.

Brock held onto his girl tightly, looking up and watching the redhead she was fighting. He'd let the fight go on normally for a minute or two, and then if it wasn't over, Sammy would have to take greater action.

 

Kairi used the strength she had in her arms to press against the force Samantha was using against her. Again, she wasn't incredibly strong, but she could handle most things. But Samantha, the girl was a little stronger than Kairi, as far as she could tell.

Samantha felt the grip Brock's hands had on her legs, keeping her stable. Not that they had to worry much; she knew the two people in front of her appeared weak. But the girl... She was providing more power than Samantha had assumed.

 

Namine watched from the side of the pool, arms crossed in front of her. She had seen the exchange earlier and thought the other couple was extremely rude toward her friends. Come on guys, she silently cheered, watching things play out.

Brock let things go on for a minute, surprised that Samantha hadn't brought down the redhead yet. Apparently they would have to do something else. He loosened his hold on one of her legs and then pat it, giving her the signal to do what was necessary.

Sora's eyes wandered to Brock when he noticed movement, confusion appearing in his eyes. What's going on here? he thought, feeling a bit nervous.

 

Samantha felt the touch and instantly smirked. Her green eyes suddenly narrowed, her eyebrows furrowing over them as she brought back her hand and quickly whacked the redhead before her across the face.

At the impact of the slap, Kairi grunted, caught off guard as her head turned in the direction of the hit. She suddenly felt a powerful push on her shoulders and the next thing she knew, she was underwater.

Roxas's eyes widened, his lips parting as he watched his friend collapse into the pool. What the...?

 

Namine gasped at the sight, bringing a hand to her mouth. Kairi!

Sora didn't have time to react to the boneheaded girl who slapped Kairi. Instead, her whirled around and brought his hands under her arms, bringing her back up to the surface immediately. He was still analyzing what happened, the brunette in total disbelief.

"Yeah!" Brock cheered, raising his hands up into the air. He smiled widely and released Samantha, trusting that she would get off his shoulders now without him having to say anything.

 

Kairi felt a strong grip bring her out of the water, the girl gasping for breath once she reached the surface. She coughed, feeling water drip from her wet hair. Her cheek stung, not even the cool water enough to prevent the pain.

"Hmph." Samantha smirked, pushing herself off of Brock's shoulders and landing safely on her feet in the pool. Those two didn't stand a chance.

Roxas watched his two friends, seeing the worry on Sora's face and the shock on Kairi's. He then looked at the couple near them, his piercing blue eyes angry and surprised. What was that?

 

"You okay?!" Sora asked frantically, his hands moving onto Kairi's shoulders as he searched her eyes for anything bad. Pain. That was the first thing he saw. He fought to keep the anger out of his eyes, worry and concern covering up any other emotions he felt.

"Good job, babe," Brock commented, wrapping an arm around the girl's shoulders as he led her to the stairs. He had his moment of victory, and now it was time to sit back and laugh at those poor saps who opposed them.

Namine tisked in disgust. What was their problem?! That was completely uncalled for--it was only a game, for Pete's sake! What could have possibly made it alright for them to hurt Kairi?! Nothing. Nothing could ever make hurting her best friend okay.

 

Kairi coughed for a second before lifting her head, looking at Sora. "I'm fine," she said softly, bringing a hand to her cheek as her gaze changed to follow the couple that was walking away behind Sora.

Samantha grinned, running a hand through her dry hair. She hadn't gotten wet recently, due to their excellent teamwork.

Roxas grabbed Namine's hand, glancing at her. "C'mon," he encouraged, turning his head and starting toward his friends.

 

Sora gazed worriedly at Kairi for a moment, not releasing her shoulders. But then he noticed she wasn't look at him; she was looking past him. He turned his head in that direction and saw the two teens getting out of the pool. His expression changed immediately, the Keyblade wielder instinctively holding Kairi's shoulders a little more tightly.

Brock climbed out of the pool, running a hand through his damp hair. It had gotten a little wet back there, but it was nothing too serious. His hair was still perfectly placed even though it was damp.

Namine nodded wordlessly and held onto Roxas' hand, following his lead.

 

Kairi blinked, looking down at the small amount of water between her and Sora. She felt his grip tighten, which didn't ease her. She knew he was worried; she could easily tell that in his eyes, but now he was probably mad. So was she, but she was more concerned with the pain in her cheek. That girl... What drove her to do that?

Samantha stepped out of the pool alongside Brock, grin dimming into a triumphant smile. Well, that was easy.

Roxas waded through the water, gripping Namine's hand as he made his way to his friends. He came up beside the redheaded girl and Sora. "Kairi... You okay?" he asked, looking down at her with worried eyes.

 

Namine looked at Kairi with concern in her eyes, seeing that Kairi appeared startled by all of this. She was too, but it was different when it was something you saw and not something you experienced.

Sora wordlessly released Kairi and turned around, wading over toward the stairs. "Hey!" he shouted angrily, approaching the stairs now. He climbed out and came right by Brock and Samantha, anger apparent in his eyes.

Brock turned around and faced the brunette, the teen not happy with Sora's tone of voice. "What?" he asked tensely, his eyebrows furrowed as he glared at Sora.

 

Kairi's eyes shot up at Sora's voice, but she answered Roxas wordlessly, nodding a little. It still hurt, but she would be okay. Shock was causing her loss of words, mostly for the action that had taken place and what was happening now.

Roxas's head turned to watch the scene outside the pool, the boy's eyes on Sora and the other teenage boy.

Samantha turned at the voice, having a hold of her towel after beginning to wipe off her legs. Despite her triumph, there was evidence of surprise on her face at the encounter.

 

"What's the matter with you two?" Sora demanded through clenched teeth, his hands turning into fists. "You don't slap someone in a game," he said angrily, glaring at the black haired boy in front of him. However, the teen didn't seem to care about any of that, and it only ticked Sora off even more.

Brock brought up a hand, waving it off. "Whatever," he said with a faint chuckle. "You're just mad we won."

 

Samantha didn't say anything, believing Brock had a hold on things. She would only put in her two cents when she felt it was right. But this boy... He seemed awfully angry.

Kairi's hand remained on her cheek as she watched the scene before her. Sora... she thought sadly. He cared so much for her, and got so angry because of what happened. She hated seeing him that way, but she knew there was nothing she could really do to stop him. Plus, she was still pondering over what triggered the hit delivered to her.

Roxas's eyebrows furrowed at the boy's answer. Yeah, that was exactly what Sora was mad about. The fact that his girlfriend got slapped didn't bother him at all. Roxas stared at the three outside the pool, watching carefully. Sora was angry, and Roxas didn't want him lashing out completely.

 

"Are you kidding?!" Sora hissed, his fists unfolding in shock. This teen was a complete jerk! "I couldn't care less about that stupid game!" he exclaimed, his blue eyes piercing the green ones across from him. "What I care about...is that you hurt an innocent girl--" he said, instinctively pointing at Kairi in the pool while keeping his glare on Brock, "--and you're not even sorry over it."

Brock shrugged, ruffling his hair. "Whatever," he said again, not even bothering to look at Kairi. Did it bother him she was hurt? Not at all. If she was slapped so easily, then she deserved it. That was his thinking behind it, anyway.

Namine watched the scene with wide eyes, the girl never looking away from Sora and Brock. Sora really looked like he was about to lose it...

 

Roxas had seen and heard enough to know that this was soon going to blow up. He instantly started toward the three, wading through the water quickly.

Kairi watched with wide eyes, not believing what she was hearing. They weren't sorry? How cruel were they?

Samantha, unlike Brock, actually did glance at Kairi, seeing the pain in the girl's eyes. She looked back at Brock and could feel the tension.
