Fast Food Madness: The Epic Return

Sora performed the same move again, this time spinning to the right so that he could deflect Riku's attack with his less-tired arm. His friend's blade bounced off Oathkeeper roughly, the clanging in Sora's ears reminding him just how much force Riku was putting into this "test."

 

Riku bent his legs and suddenly flipped over Sora's form, spinning around once his feet touched the ground. He swung at his friend's back, aware that he was vulnerable there.

Roxas slid down the length of the wall, sitting down on the sandy ground. He was still slightly confused and lightheaded, so he just sat there, watching the scene with as much focus as he could muster.

 

Sora felt the blade impact him before he could form any kind of defense. His eyebrows furrowed at the pain, a hiss leaving his lips as he stumbled forward a few steps. Not good, he thought, adrenaline rushing through his veins as an effort to help him in battle.

 

"Expect the unexpected!" Riku cried, noticing Sora's footfault. He lifted his blade again to perform another attack, this time one that was vertical.

Roxas watched the two friends fight, seeing that Riku was definitely challenging Sora. He wasn't going easy on him, even when he stumbled. I guess that's how Sora got so good at battle, Roxas though, legs stretched out in front of him.

 

Sora spun around halfway, footing set in a way that he could block the blow. He brought up both his blades and formed an "x", catching Riku's Keyblade in between them. He wasn't giving up, not that easily.

 

Riku grunted at the contact, the sharp sound of the blades coming together reaching his ears. He put force against Sora's Keyblades, his teeth ground together as he brought forth his strength.

 

Sora shifted Oathkeeper in his hand, twisting it so that he could hook its end onto Riku's Keyblade. He suddenly tugged at Riku's weapon, pulling it off of him now that it was connected to Oathkeeper's tip. He swung it around in the air several rounds, the blade going flying over a wall. "Expect the unexpected," Sora said with a smirk, the Kingdom Key pointing directly at Riku's throat.

 

Riku was still at the point of Sora's blade, aware that he was now without a weapon. He breathed heavily from all the energy he used, but smirked nonetheless. "Neat trick," he said simply.

Roxas smiled slightly in triumph of his best friend, knowing now that Sora had proved he could handle his own. At least Riku knew now.

 

Sora kept the smirk on his face, his eyes staying on Riku. "I've been practicing," he said simply. Maybe not with the actual Keyblades, but he had been working out and learning different types of Earthly fighting styles while he was at home.

 

Riku felt himself smile slightly, bringing up a hand and pushing Sora's blade away with his fingers. "Your defense seems to be in top shape as well," he commented. "Not surprising, knowing you. The constant practice all those years against me did some good, I see." In fact, Riku felt a bit proud. Sora hadn't forgotten a thing.

 

Sora smiled, Keyblades fading out of his grasp. The fight was obviously complete. He lowered his arm, both of them at his side as he took a step back to give his friend some room. "I think you were having too much fun testing me," he stated with a chuckle. Riku really hadn't gone easy on him, but that wasn't a surprise.

 

Riku shrugged. "Eh, you're easy to pick on," he taunted with a smirk. He turned around with a satisfied grin, walking to where Roxas waited against the wall.

Roxas began to push himself up, seeing that the fight was officially over. That had been the longest battle test he'd ever witnessed. Actually, it was the only one he had ever--- Roxas lost his balance slightly as a picture flashed before his eyes again, the boy's back meeting the wall as he stayed on his feet.

 

Sora chuckled lightly. "Maybe," he said in agreement. He was often the butt of other people's jokes, but he was fine with it. He knew who he was, so the jokes didn't often offend him. He turned around and followed a few steps behind Riku.

 

Riku heard Sora's comment and simply smiled, his eyes locating Roxas against the wall. He took a closer look as they approached him and noticed that he appeared to be...different.

Roxas suddenly saw a room with a gray platform, and he was running along it. What surprised him most was the fact that there were tons of silvery-white creatures trailing him, as if chasing him. He swung at them and ran away from them, trying to avoid them but at the same time annihalate them.

 

Sora caught a glimpse of Roxas, seeing that he appeared to be in a daze. "Hey Riku," he started. "Looks like our fight was too boring to hold Roxas' attention," he joked lightly, a smile on his lips. He's probably thinking about Namine, he figured, not judging his friend harshly.

 

Riku shrugged. "If he really is your Nobody, that should be the case," he quipped back with a smirk, thinking more along the lines of a short attention span. Sora always did kind of get distracted as a kid...

...Nobodies? Roxas thought silently, still seeing the picture. In the memory he was being timed too, as if he were being tested...

 

Sora rolled his eyes, hearing the insult but not caring. He wasn't going to deny it; sometimes he had a pretty short attention span. "Thanks a lot!" he laughed, speaking the sentence with obvious sarcasm.

 

Riku only chuckled, approaching Roxas's position. The blond Nobody was pushing himself off the wall when he stopped in front of him and he cocked his head to the side. Roxas seemed a little...out of it. "You alright?" he asked.

Roxas moved his head side to side, shaking away the memory just as Riku's voice reached his ears. He finally stood on his own and nodded slightly. "Yeah... It must be the heat," he said, using that as his excuse. He didn't know where these...pictures were coming from, so he wasn't going to tell either Sora or Riku, especially with so much already going on.

 

Sora arched a brow slightly, stopping beside Riku. "You're pretty pale," he said, concerned for his friend. "Maybe you should go back to the ship." It was pretty early out yet, so he wanted to get some more done before he called it a day. That, and he was secretly hoping to meet some of his friends.

 

Roxas shook his head, his fingers curling slightly into weak fists. "No, I'm okay," he insisted. It's not like it was actually the desert climate having an effect. But he did want to stick around; he was asked to cooperate with this mission, and he wasn't about to back down because of some strange pictures.
