Fast Food Madness: The Epic Return

Sora furrowed his brows at the response. That was Riku's kinder way of saying exactly what he had said earlier: they weren't good enough. The brunet opened his hand and flexed it without thought, the Keyblade appearing in his grasp. "Do I really look that weak to you? You think I've been stupid enough to let myself get out of shape? Not a chance, not when so many people depend on me for safety." Mainly, he was referring to Roxas and the girls, but even more than that, he was thinking of the people int he worlds he had previously met.

 

Riku arched an eyebrow, his eyes falling on the Keyblade in Sora's grasp. There was only one way for Sora to prove himself. "Hmph," Riku said with a smirk. He suddenly summoned Way to Dawn to his hand, bringing his arm back and into his battle stance. From past experience, Riku knew Sora couldn't refuse a challenge. He knew this was going to be no exception. "Show me."

 

Sora smirked faintly, twirling the Keyblade in his hand as he took a battle stance. "Gladly," he said simply, his bright blue eyes showing his seriousness. Even if he didn't beat Riku in this fight, his friend would see that he was perfectly capable of not only defending himself but doing serious damage in battle.

 

Riku knew that face, and the sight of it made his smirk turn into a faint smile. Regardless, he didn't hesitate. He moved his fingers in his free hand, performing a gesture that seemed to say, Bring it.

Roxas backed up a few steps, his back meeting the wall. He stood there so he could avoid the action, that way he wouldn't mistakenly be involved. He propped a foot up on the wall behind him, crossing his arms as he watched.

 

"Hmph." Sora smirked at the gesture. "Same cocky Riku," he muttered, though it was loud enough for Riku to hear. He loud out a battle cry and ran forward a few steps before he jumped up into the air, Keyblade in front of him as he prepared to deal the first blow.

 

Riku's small smile returned to the form of a smirk at the murmured words, the boy's eyes tracking Sora's movements under his silver hair. He lifted his head slightly to follow his friend before bringing up his Keyblade to block the attack.

 

Sora's smile dimmed even though things had gone exactly as he had hoped they would. He changed his position in the air one moment before his blade would have contacted Riku's, his feet landing on the blade instead. He propelled himself back up off the blade, flying toward a wall behind his friend. He got his footing against the side of the wall without a problem and then launched himself towards Riku's back, where he was vulnerable.

 

Riku listened with his trained ears, knowing that because of Sora's natural speed, he wouldn't be able to see what was coming in time. Instead he listened for it, and when he sensed the attack, he dodge-rolled to the side, a small cloud of dust forming from the action.

 

Sora landed in the cloud of dust, his eyes wandering as he searched for Riku. At first glance, it was impossible to see anything. He raised his Keyblade as a defense to any unseen attacks, ears listening for any trace of his opponent.

 

Riku got to his feet and dashed forward instantly, Keyblade at the ready. If his calculations were correct, Sora was right where he had been standing. As he took one more step, Riku brought back his blade, thrusting it forward with a battle cry.

 

Sora took a step back as the blade came into the cloud, going horizontally in front of him. He rolled to the side and lifted his blade again, seeing Riku standing in the position he had attacked him in. A cry left his lips as he lifted himself up, swinging in an angled, upward swing.

 

Riku winced slightly from the contact of Sora's blade cutting at his side. The boy jumped back, out of the dust cloud. He had to admit, he wasn't prepared for that move.

Roxas watched from the sidelines, observing the two old friends battle it out in the main entrance of the city. It was interesting, to him anyway. Because of their history, he could tell that Sora and Riku knew what to expect, like they memorized each other's moves. But he supposed not all of them, by the way Riku had just gotten hit.

 

Sora brought his blade in closer to him, angling it toward the ground as he focused his strength. "Fire!" he cried, recalling an old spell that had been useful to him before. A few balls of fire surrounded him, not only protecting him from any incoming attacks but also slightly wounding an enemy so they could be caught off guard. That was exactly what he needed to do when it came to Riku--catch him off guard, then perform a combo.

 

Riku heard the cry and instantly casted Dark Shield, the blue-clear wall protecting his body from the fire. Sora was quick. But, Sora had always been quick, even when they were younger. Riku guessed it just improved over the course of his last journey.

 

The moment the spell disappeared, Sora rolled to the side, pulling a reversal on Riku. Instead of directly attacking him, he performed a back flip and threw the blade while he was in midair, the Keyblade spinning horizontally toward his opponent.

 

Riku watched as the Dark Shield faded after a few seconds' use, and at the same time detected the Keyblade flying toward him. He brought his Keyblade up in defense, though he had a feeling it wouldn't completely deflect the blow. And he was right. Sora's Keyblade came in contact with him, the force of the hit making him slide back two feet.

 

Sora didn't let up, knowing that Riku would use that against him in the future. He summoned his Keyblade back into his hand and charged forward, using his speed to his advantage once again.

 

Riku caught movement out of the corner of his eye and looked past his raised Keyblade, seeing his best friend closing the gap between them quickly. He grit his teeth and set his footing, preparing himself for anything.

 

When he was four steps away, Sora pulled a spin move, using the movement in a way that would power up a horizontal swing of his blade. A battle cry left his lips at the attack, his blade coming in toward Riku.

 

Riku brought up his blade at the last second, grunting at the force of contact. He grunted again from the effort of his next move: he used both hands against his blade to push Sora's away, immediately jumping and performing a backflip to evade. He landed several yards away.
