Fast Food Madness: The Epic Return

Sora entered the ship a few steps after Roxas did, the teen not daring to turn around and look at the girls. This was hard enough without seeing their sad expressions, and he felt as if whatever Kairi's expression was would make him turn back. He sighed softly and approached the pilot's seat, sitting himself down without looking at Roxas.

Namine bit down on her lip, feeling the tears she held back for so long slide down her cheeks. It didn't matter now--neither of the boys would look back. They were gone from her sight, inside the ship the King had sent.

 

Roxas buckled himself into his seat, his eyes then lifting to the sight before him. The water near the abandoned port was bordered on one side by deserted shacks, the tall skyscrapers of the city on the other. The sun was just above the horizon, providing an orange glow. Roxas closed his eyes for a minute, taking in a deep breath. This was it, they were gone for good now, and unsure of when they would return.

Kairi's eyes immediately released some of the built-up tears as soon as Sora entered the ship. She bit her quivering lip, not bothering to wipe away the tears. Her sight was locked on the multi-colored ship, knowing in a minute it would be gone, and so would the boys within it.

 

Sora buckled himself into the seat and then briefly looked up and saw the sights of the city before him. However, he didn't dwell on anything. At this point, he just wanted to leave so that they could return sooner. "Ready?" he asked Roxas, his voice flat.

Namine readjusted herself, crossing her arms across her front tightly as the tears kept flowing. They're going, right now, she thought miserably, the train of thought triggering even more emotions.

 

Roxas exhaled silently and opened his eyes. "Yeah," he replied, his voice empty of emotion. A part of him was ready, so he could take out his frustrations and anger about this whole situation on the Heartless; and he wanted to get home to Namine as soon as possible. But a different side of him wasn't prepared at all, because he didn't want to leave his love behind. Alone. Roxas had no choice, however--he had to do what he had to do.

Kairi watched tearfully a the ship before her sat there, but she knew it would only be seconds before it was up in the air, zooming away to another world and out of this one. Then the love of her life and best friend would be worlds away, with no contact, no sight of them at all. The thought made more tears leave her eyes, though they never ceased anyway.

 

Sora nodded wordlessly and grabbed the key that was already in the ignition. He turned it, bringing the ship to life. Then he turned to the computer and went through the available worlds. Agrabah was at the top of the list, and he had a feeling that was a good world to start at. He touched the screen and selected it, a soft beep showing the ship recognized the selection. The ship started to lift itself up off the ground, preparing to warp.

Namine bit down on her lip to hush the whimper that left her. Roxas....I love you, so much. Please, please just come back someday soon. She watched the ship lift off the ground, expecting it to disappear at any time now.

 

Roxas watched as the ground that had been beneath them grew smaller, but the sights before him were becoming larger, the boy being able to see more of the abandoned port as the ship lifted off the ground. He had only flown on one of these things when they first moved to New York City; it had been a while since then. Roxas took in a breath and tried to relax, even though it was hard when he was leaving somebody so important to him behind.

Kairi bit her quivering lip, feeling the tears streak down her face. Her vision was blurry, her eyelashes wet from her crying. But she couldn't stop it, not when Sora was leaving her a second time. Be safe...

 

Sora pressed another button and then leaned back into his seat, bracing himself for what came next. The ship started forward, picking up speed as it went before it completely warped, out of of the Earth's hemisphere and into Space.

When the ship disappeared, Namine brought her hands to her face, covering her eyes. They were really gone...and they most likely wouldn't be back any time soon. The tears kept flowing freely, her body shaking a little bit from the emotions she was experiencing.

 

The speed of the warp pressed Roxas back into his seat more, the boy's eyes detecting many swirling colors. They swam around him as they warped out of Earth's atmosphere, and then he saw a somewhat familiar universe around him. But he released a heavy breath, his eyes closing as he leaned his head back, knowing now that he'd left Namine. For real this time.

Kairi couldn't control herself, a single soft sob leaving her once the ship warped out of sight. She closed her eyes and felt tears trickle down her cheeks. Without thought she turned her head to Namine, and seeing her friend's similar condition, wrapped her arms around her in a hug. They'd gone through the same thing, and were experiencing the same emotions now. Both of their boys--they were gone.

 

Sora kept his eyes forward, one hand on the wheel out of old habit. "We're going to Agrabah first," he said, his voice sounding very formal. "I don't know why, but it seems like a good place to start." That, and he just had a feeling Riku was there. His friend always did prefer fighting in warmer weather.

Namine worked her arms out, the task a bit of a challenge because of Kairi's sudden embrace. Once they were lowered, though, Namine wrapped her arms around her friend. They could both comfort each other because they were experiencing the same emotions.

 

Roxas opened his eyes, seeing the ship soaring through space. "Sounds good," he said. Agrabah? He'd never heard of that place before. In fact, he hadn't heard of a lot of places Sora had been to. He'd only been to Twilight Town, The World That Never Was, and Destiny Islands. He was in for an adventure, no doubt.

Kairi held her friend in a comforting hug, knowing exactly what she was feeling. It was terrible feeling, to know that the people you loved left you to face danger, a horrifying enemy, and you didn't know when they would be back. But...Kairi knew, behind all of her sorrow, that they had to have faith.

 

In a matter of seconds, Sora saw the world appearing in front of them. He was thankful that the King had a warp feature on the ship he had given them--it would save them a lot of time. When the ship stopped outside the world, Sora looked down at the computer screen, looking for a place to land the Gummi ship.

 

Roxas was a little surprised to find that they were already at the world. That was faster than he thought. Regardless, at the sight of it, he leaned forward in his seat, his hands on the edge of the arm rests. "Whoa..." He'd never seen a place that looked like this.

 

Sora couldn't help but smile at Roxas' expression of awe. He chuckled and turned to look at his friend beside him, the smile still on his face. "Pretty cool, huh?" he asked. "This always was one of my favorite places to go." The warm weather, the places to explore...the friends he met here...It was all pretty spectacular.

 

Roxas nodded, his wide eyes stuck to the world in front of them. "Yeah..." His voice showed his awe. This place seemed different to him, and he wasn't sure why. He would find out soon enough.

 

Sora smiled, turning back to the screen. He selected a place right outside the main city, a place where he normally parked the ship. After a few seconds, the ship's surroundings suddenly changed to that of the building. He looked over at Roxas, expecting to see the awed expression even more apparent on his friend's face.

 

Roxas jumped slightly at the sudden change of scenery, his lips parted in astonishment. He was on the edge of his seat, his bright eyes darting around what he could see of the world outside the front window. Seeing it up close now, he was excited to get out of the ship and look around.

 

Sora grinned, a few more laughs leaving him. If he would have had a camera, he would have taken Roxas' picture. That facial expression was priceless. "C'mon," he said, cutting off his chuckles as he went to unbuckle himself.

 

Roxas sat back in his seat a little, his head lowering as he focused on his seatbelt. After a second he successfully unbuckled himself, the boy pushing himself up from his seat. His eyes went back to staring out the window, but he knew in a matter of a few seconds he'd be on this...desert-looking world.

 

Sora stood up and headed over toward the ramp, which wasn't opened yet. He pressed one button on the wall and the ramp immediately went down, only taking two seconds to fully extend. Once it was opened, he went down it, breathing in the air he had missed since his last visit.

 

Roxas followed behind Sora, his eyes taking in the tall wall before him as he descended the ramp. Now he knew that this was a world he had never encountered; it appeared so different from Twilight Town or Destiny Islands, especially New York City.
