Fast Food Madness: The Epic Return

Namine shut her eyes, hearing Roxas' reassuring words. He didn't even know what was wrong, and yet Namine still believed his promise was true. It was only a dream...Right? It had to have been! He was gone. He could never return...Ever.

 

Roxas stared at the wall behind Namine, simply standing there as he held her in his arms. The silence that surrounded them wasn't uncomfortable, but wasn't exactly peaceful either. He chose to ignore it, though, and decided that Namine was more important. He rubbed her back gently with one hand as he held her, hoping to provide some comfort.

 

Namine took in a breath and then released it, her hold on Roxas loosening slightly as she calmed down. No matter how badly the dream had frightened her--no, still frightened her, she had to realize that it could never become a reality.

 

Roxas grasped Namine a little tighter for a brief moment, squeezing her gently. Whatever was bothering her, he wanted to help make it go away; he never did like it when she was distressed about something, especially something that made her cry.

 

Namine gently brought her left hand off of Roxas' back, moving it to the front of his shoulder instead. She was alright...Sort of. She wasn't terrified that anything was going to happen at that moment, sot hat helped calm her down quite a bit.

 

After another moment of silence, Roxas gently started to pull back from their embrace. It wasn't that he was tired of standing there; that would never be the case, because he loved holding Namine in his arms. Now, though, he wanted to see her face. Maybe then he could see the things she couldn't say.

 

Namine kept a hand on Roxas' shoulder, but she did pull her other arm back to her side when Roxas released her. Obviously he wanted to know what was wrong to make her start crying like that. She didn't know if she could find the words to speak yet, but she would try to sort things out, for both of their sakes.

 

Roxas let his hands rest on Namine's arms as he bent his head a little to look at her eyes. His eyes were soft to begin with, so they stayed the same when he saw the emotion within hers. Terror. She was scared of something, but he wasn't sure what. Did something happen while he was asleep?

 

Namine blinked, but otherwise, she forced herself to hold eye-contact with Roxas. It was a bit...unnerving, seeing him searching her eyes like that. But she knew that her eyes said the words that she couldn't at that moment. No matter how painful it was to let somebody else in on how she felt, she knew that in the end, it would bring healing.

 

Roxas pressed his lips together at what he saw, blinking once in the silence. "How about we go back to the couch?" he suggested, his voice very soft throughout this moment. He wasn't sure why his tone was that way, but he guessed speaking too loudly would affect Namine in some way.

 

Namine nodded faintly in recognition. Roxas' suggestion was a good one; They were both still tired, and personally, she didn't feel like standing much longer. "Okay," she said softly, speaking for the first time since everything happened. She gently slid her hand off of Roxas' shoulder, her eyes following the movement.

 

Roxas let his hands fall from Namine's arms. He nodded once, his eyes staying on the girl. He wasn't sure how this was going to go, considering she was barely talking to him. Something must really be bothering her...

 

Namine didn't want to be completely without Roxas' gentle touch, so she reached out and took his hand without thought, hers lightly holding his. Before he could show any signs of response, she turned around and took a step forward, heading for the living room.

 

Roxas followed Namine naturally, his eyes wandering down to their hands. His fingers curled to fit with her hand, as if to protect it--to let her know he was there for her. No matter what.

 

When Namine felt Roxas grip her hand back, she almost wanted to start crying again. His sensitivity was just so touching, and it was exactly what she needed at that moment. She shut her eyes for a brief moment to compose herself and then she opened them back up, heading into the living room.

 

Roxas lifted his gaze to the girl in front of him, staring at her light blonde hair for a moment. Even through the darkness of his home, he could still see it. He then looked ahead to where they were going, the moonlight shining through the windows.

 

Despite the dim lighting in the room, Namine had no problem finding the couch. This place was a like a second home to her, so she knew where everything was located. She exhaled a silent breath and sat herself down in the spot she had been in before, her hand still lightly holding Roxas'.

 

With the way they were holding hands, Roxas was able to sit in the same spot he had fallen asleep in. He settled into the couch and his body faced a little more toward Namine, his hand remaining connected with hers.

 

Namine looked down at their hands together, the girl focusing only on that. She had no clue what she was going to say....How could she make Roxas understand fully what had happened? It had left her so jumbled and afraid. Even if those feelings weren't as strong now, they were still there.

 

Roxas looked at Namine and then followed her gaze, his sight resting on their hands. He squeezed hers before lifting his eyes back up to her, his silence and gesture enough to tell her that she could take her time. With Namine, there was no rush. Roxas was always patient with her.
