Fast Food Madness: The Epic Return

"I'm starving," Sora confessed, loosening his hold on Kairi slightly. He hadn't eaten all day...It was a wonder he hadn't crashed yet. Or maybe he did--with that faint earlier. He wasn't sure, and he didn't want to ponder it, so he let the thoughts drop.

"...I'm a little hungry," Namine said with some hesitation. She knew that Roxas would be the one to get up and make the food, but she didn't quite feel ready to let go yet.

 

Roxas smiled slightly. "Okay." He kept his eyes on Namine, lifting the hand that was rubbing her shoulder to her hair. "How about I order a pizza? Sound good?" He could see how much she was clinging to him, and he knew that she wouldn't want him to go, not after the movie.

Kairi closed her eyes at the thought of pizza, the food sounding very good. "Fine with me," she piped, giving her opinion.

 

"Sure," Sora said, the thought of hot pizza making him feel even more hungry. Anything was fine with him, as long as it didn't take a while to come.

"'Kay," Namine said softly, pizza sounding fine to her. What sounded even better, though, was that she wouldn't have to let go of Roxas. She was so glad he had thought of pizza...that was so much better than any other options they had at the moment.

 

Roxas nodded. He loosened his hold on Namine a little, reaching into his front pocket for his cell phone so he could make the call. The thought of pizza made him want to eat right away, and he was sure his friends were feeling the same.

 

Namine loosened her hold on Roxas unwillingly, knowing she had to at least do that much so he could work with his cell phone. She shut her eyes once more, keeping her head on his shoulder.

 

It took no more than a minute for Roxas to place the order. He knew everybody's favorite pizza toppings, which made the order easier. And he got an extra large, knowing his and Sora's appetites combined. He hung up the phone once the call was finished, resting his phone on the arm of the couch by the remote. "It'll be ten minutes," Roxas stated, repeating what he was told on the phone.

Kairi nodded. She could wait ten more minutes for the meal. But sitting next to Sora, she could hear his stomach rumble. She wasn't so sure about him.

 

Namine nodded faintly, her eyes still shut. During the movie, there were periods where her eyes would be wide and on the screen while at other times they were shut completely. And now it felt as if her eyes were pretty tired from her staring.

Sora took his left arm off of Kairi gently, the teen needing something to stop his stomach from rumbling. He grabbed the water off the end table and brought it to his lips, drinking the whole thing in a few large swallows. That didn't do much for him, but it was better than nothing.

 

Roxas lowered his eyesight to the girl against him, and he leaned his head down to kiss her blonde hair. He pulled back after a second, letting his hand rest on her shoulder. Namine seemed like she was calming down now, and he was happy for that. He didn't want her being scared all day long. But when night came around, he knew what to expect.

 

Namine silently exhaled at the gentle kiss and touch, her eyes staying shut. She became a little less tense, momentarily forgetting about the scary movie she had just endured.

 

Roxas let his fingers trail over Namine's shoulder, trying to provide some comfort. She hadn't moved since the movie ended, so he figured she was still frightened. He didn't like seeing her that way, but it was inevitible from the start, when he first turned on the movie.

Kairi let her grip loosen on Sora before, when he took a drink of water. But now she let her hand linger on his chest, just staring ahead.

 

Namine finally opened her eyes again, gazing down at the couch as Roxas lightly ran his hand over her shoulder. She was glad for the silence--It wasn't uncomfortable, it was just...peaceful.

Sora let his left hand fall to his side after he set the glass back down. His eyes wandered down to the girl he was holding, a gentleness coming from the ocean-blue orbs. "You okay?" he silently asked, speaking through his heart so Roxas and Namine's moment wouldn't have been interrupted.

 

Kairi nodded against Sora's shoulder, lifting her eyes to only see the bottom of his face. "I'm just a little scared," she admitted silently. Since the silence had fallen on them, her thoughts had gone back to the movie. The images in her head frightened her, even if they weren't as vivid as the screen.

 

Sora smiled weakly. He wasn't happy to hear that Kairi was scared, but he knew he was doing everything he could to comfort her already. Unless...The boy leaned down and gave Kairi a light kiss on the top of her head, hoping that would somehow bring her peace of mind.

 

Kairi shut her eyes at the gesture, feeling a small smile come to her lips. Sora was always the sweetest guy she had known. She was surprised they hadn't gotten together sooner after he got back from his adventure, but she supposed then they had a lot to catch up on. And then moving here was a pretty big task, from one world to another. Regardless, she loved him unconditionally, and he always knew how to cheer her up when she was down.

 

Sora pulled back after a moment, a small smile on his lips. He saw a look of comfort on Kairi's face even though he couldn't see the whole thing. He was relieved she was feeling better--he never wanted her to feel sad or uncomfortably afraid.

 

Kairi kept her eyes closed for another minute, the side of her face staying pressed against Sora's shirt. "Thank you..." she said through her heart gently. The small gesture had calmed her down a little, whether it was meant to or not.

 

"You're welcome," Sora responded gently. He brought up his left hand and set it lightly on Kairi's shoulder. Once in place, he started gently running circles on her arm with his thumb, the simple movements causing him no additional pain to his shoulder.

 

It was only a few minutes later that the doorbell rang, and Roxas instantly knew who was at the door. "Pizza's here," he said with a smile, looking to his friends. His eyes stopped on Namine, the boy still holding her in his arms. He rubbed her shoulder a little but then stopped. "I should go pay for the food," he said with a small smile, hinting that he needed to rise from the couch.

 

Namine looked up at Roxas, catching onto the hint. "Alright," she said softly, a small smile on her lips. She released him and moved over slightly, knowing that he needed to get up. Of course she hadn't wanted to let him go, but it was necessary.

 

Roxas offered her the smallest smile before he pushed himself up from the couch, digging into his pocket for his wallet as he walked out of the room. He approached the front door and opened it to find the pizza man, no doubt holding the food. Roxas asked him how much and when he was told he gave the money to the delivery guy, telling him to keep the change. After a grateful thanks, Roxas came back inside, shutting the door behind him so the air conditioning didn't go to waste.
