Fast Food Madness: The Epic Return

Sora blinked when the words impacted his heart, the boy not expecting them to come at that moment. His lips turned up into a small smile--a real, genuine smile. "I love you too," he said aloud, wanting the words to leave him verbally. He had been telling Kairi that for the past few days through his heart, and he had honestly missed saying them out loud.

 

Kairi's smile grew again, and she felt the small stinging sensation in her eyes start to grow. But this time, it was in happiness. She had missed Sora so much, and she hadn't been able to hear those words leave his lips in what felt like an eternity to her. She had longed for it for the past couple days, even though she had felt and heard the saying in her heart.

 

Sora's smile softened some as he held Kairi's gaze. He was faintly aware of a pain rising in his shoulder again, which he had been distracted from earlier due to their conversation. Might as well start taking care of myself now, he mused, lifting the icepack with his right hand and placing it on the back of his left shoulder again.

 

Kairi watched the action and took in a breath, trying to get the formation of tears to fade away. She rubbed Sora's knee a little, aware her hand was still there. But then she lifted it, looking at the boy she loved. "...Should I go get Roxas and Namine?" she asked. She wasn't sure, because she was curious if he wanted another minute alone with her.

 

Sora nodded faintly. "Right after this," he said softly. Before she could ask what he meant, he gently leaned forward and placed his lips against hers, his eyes falling shut as he lightly kissed her.

 

As soon as his lips met hers, Kairi closed her eyes. Her heart seemed to leap inside her chest at the feeling of the kiss, the girl having missed it the past few days. Kairi kissed Sora back gently, glad that the moment hadn't ended just yet.​

 

Sora would have brought a hand to her face, but his right hand was taken by the icepack, and he couldn't lift his left arm too much. So he moved his left hand and lightly set it on her knee, that small movement not creating any new pain as he lightly kissed her.

 

Kairi brought the hand that had been resting on Sora's knee to his face at the touch, the girl kissing Sora back gently. She loved him so much, and she hoped he realized that.

 

When he felt himself running low on air, Sora gently pulled back from the kiss, his forehead against Kairi's. "Now you can go get Roxas and Namine," he breathed. "That is, if you still want to," he added, his eyes opening as a smile formed on his lips.

 

Kairi smiled slightly at Sora's small bit of humor, her hand lingering on his cheek. "It'd only be polite," she said softly. "You did tell them ten minutes." That was never long enough, though. No, no time was ever as long as she needed it to be. Forever and a day, that was how much time she wanted with Sora. Always.

 

Sora gently took his hand off Kairi's knee, and he lowered his hand with the icepack too, since he had been holding it on in an uncomfortable position. "We probably should let them in," he said with a sigh. He would have enjoyed a moment longer with Kairi, but they'd be together during the movie, so that would be good enough for him.

 

Kairi looked at the bright blue eyes in front of her, smiling in agreement. "I'll go get them," she said, but her hand only stayed on Sora's face. This obviously showed she didn't want to, at least not at the moment.

 

Sora chuckled softly, noticing that Kairi didn't look like she was ready to get up. He leaned forward and gave her a light peck on the lips before he returned to his previous position. "Better hurry, before we change our minds," he whispered with a smile.

 

Kairi closed her eyes, sighing softly. "Okay," she said, her smile softening a little. She opened her eyes and moved her thumb once over Sora's cheek before she pulled away. She quietly stood up and, glancing back at Sora one more time, she started out of the room to go retrieve her friends.

 

Sora watched Kairi go, a wide smile still on his lips. He couldn't help but chuckle to himself about how quickly things changed. Once they were on the same page, things always turned out better. He was glad for peace on that issue, because he had a few other things bothering him. Of course, he didn't have a chance to talk to Kairi about that, but he would bring it up soon enough.

 

Kairi approached the entrance hall to Roxas's cozy home and walked to the door. She pulled it open, immediately feeling the gentle breeze and warm air from the summer impact her. "Roxas! Namine!" she called, seeing them by a tree. She waved her arm at them, trying to get their attention.

Roxas turned his head at the sound, the boy sitting across from Namine with both of his hands intertwined with hers. He saw that it was Kairi calling them, and he released one of Namine's hands to wave his own. "Be right there!" he hollered across the yard.

 

Sora exhaled and faced forward on the couch, leaving his other thoughts behind. Knowing he didn't want to hold up the icepack, he placed it between his back and the couch. He would have to stay in that position to make sure the bag didn't fall, but it was better than having to hold it up for the whole movie.

Namine looked up at the call, seeing Kairi waving to them from the doorway. As soon as she saw her friend, she heard Roxas' call. She didn't know what was going on, since she had missed part of the conversation earlier. But she could tell that nothing was wrong by the happiness in Kairi's voice, so that was good.

 

"Okay!" Kairi called back, letting her arm fall as she smiled gently. She turned around and went back inside the house, shutting the door behind her so the warm air wouldn't intrude on the coolness of Roxas's home.

Roxas turned his head to look at Namine. "So, shall we go?" he asked goofily, offering her a small grin. They had been talking about pointless things, but that was part of their relationship; they never had a problem talking about random things. That comfort came naturally.

 

Truthfully, though, Sora still felt a little tired. He may have gotten some rest earlier (other than the faint, which he didn't consider rest), but he was still feeling some of the weakness from his battle. And the nagging, aching wounds. They were small, thank goodness, but they still irritated him. he sighed softly, letting his eyes flicker shut as he leaned his head into the back of the couch.

Namine giggled softly at Roxas' goofy smile. "Sure," she said, wearing a smile of her own. She gently slid one of her hands out of Roxas' and set it on the ground, starting to lift herself up.

 

Kairi walked back into the living room, her eyes automatically landing on the couch. She saw that Sora had his eyes shut, so she didn't say anything. Instead, she approached the couch quietly, sitting herself down next to him.

Roxas pushed himself up from the grass, dusting his pants off once he stood upright. He was ready to watch a movie now, knowing it would be calming for everyone, and relaxing.
