Fast Food Madness: The Epic Return

Sora responded to the call, his heart leaping at the concern in Kairi's voice. He felt overwhelmed by some of the weakness he felt earlier, but he ignored it and peeked his eyes open. He blinked them shut and then reopened them fully, seeing three concerned faces in his view.

Namine exhaled a silent breath, a wave of relief impacting her. Sora was awake...Thank goodness.

 

Kairi sighed in relief, a smile of the same emotion coming across her face. "You're awake," she said softly, gazing at Sora's blue eyes.

Roxas smiled slightly. "Welcome back," he told his best friend quietly, happy to see that he was okay.

 

"You okay?" Namine asked softly, concern and relief in her voice. People didn't just pass out for no reason...

Sora nodded faintly, exhaling a breath. "Yeah, I'm okay," he said softly. His head was perfectly clear now, there was no more fuzziness or dizziness anymore.

 

"Good," Kairi said with a small nod, glad to hear that. As worried as she still was, that was something she was happy to know.

"Do you remember anything?" Roxas asked, referring to what happened before Sora passed out. If his friend knew that, then he might've known what caused this whole thing.

 

Sora looked up at the ceiling, thinking. "I was feeling sick a minute or two before..." he confessed. "I thought maybe I could walk it off, but apparently not." Seriously, though, what happened...? He tried to piece his thoughts together, hoping to figure out what triggered his faint and sickness.

Namine frowned slightly at Sora's response. That didn't really help them...Was his faint triggered by his weakness from earlier? Or his wounds? Or something else, maybe...?

 

Kairi bit her lip. She wished Sora would have told her he wasn't feeling well, but she had been on him about not worrying about himself at the time... That really was a bad idea on her part.

Roxas exhaled a breath softly, nodding. "It's a start," he said softly. "Maybe you'll remember more later." That could always be the case, though he was almost positive there was more to it than that.

 

Sora nodded faintly, humming to Roxas' statement. He remembered everything perfectly, but he didn't want to tell Roxas about anything that had happened. He had to make sure things were cleared up with Kairi as soon as possible.

Namine kept her eyes on Sora, tilting her head to sight slightly. He looked...different than usual. That was the best way she could describe it. But she was sure it was probably just because he wasn't feeling his best.

 

Kairi quit biting her lip, having done so much of that lately that it was beginning to sore up. She remained silent, not sure what to say or do in this situation. She felt bad about what she had said to him, even if she thought she was right with that certain topic. It didn't matter right now though, because she wanted to focus on Sora.

Roxas glanced up, seeing the couch behind Kairi. He then looked down at Sora again. "Uh... You wanna get off the floor?" he asked with an arch of his eyebrow, a small half-smile showing on his face. The floor probably wasn't all that comfortable. "I mean, if you wanna stay there, be my guest." His half-smile spread into a full one, the blonde boy not being able to help it. Roxas was trying to make light of the situation, despite how curious he was about what had happened.

 

Sora gave Roxas a lop-sided grin, the teen feeling some tension lift at his friends words. "I don't know..." Sora started. "Your carpet is pretty soft," he said, his smirk turning into a full grin.

Namine felt herself smile at the boys and their playful banter. It was how she knew that Sora was alright. Just like what had happened earlier that morning, she could tell he was okay by the way he was willing to joke around.

 

Kairi felt herself smile slightly, despite the thoughts in her head. She supposed Sora was alright by his smile, but she couldn't be so sure...

Roxas chuckled lightly. "Like I said, you're welcome to it," he insisted with a grin. "I happen to like the couch myself, but hey, whatever suits you."

 

Sora slowly propped himself up, his eyes wandering to the couch and then to the carpet as he pretended to think on what he should do. He ran a hand over the carpet one last time and then sighed. "I guess the couch is more comfy...Sorry, carpet." He tried to keep a serious expression on his face, but he failed, a smirk starting to reappear.

Namine smiled, a giggle escaping her lips at Sora's goofiness. She hoped he would always be like that; his goofiness was what made him unique. No, it's what made him Sora.

 

Kairi's smile grew a tiny bit more, the girl's eyes finding her friends when they laughed. She was glad that the tension was easing; she never had been fond of it.

Roxas's soft laughter died down. He proceeded to get up, and once standing, offered his hand out to Sora. Might as well get him off the floor now, before he changes his mind, he thought to himself, smiling.

 

Sora gave his friend a nod and he reached out a hand, grabbing onto Roxas'. He wasn't sure what the nod was for--maybe it was to assure his friend that he was okay enough to stand without being carried like he was earlier. Or maybe it was meant as a thanks. In a way, he hoped it came across as both. He started to get to his feet, tightening his grip as he did.

Namine kept her concerned eyes on Sora as she too rose to her feet. He was already better than he was earlier, considering he could stand with little assistance.

 

Kairi watched the boy she cared for begin to stand, and she followed suit. She put one foot on the floor before pushing on her knee to help herself get up.

Roxas tightened his grip on Sora's hand in response, beginning to pull his friend up. He noticed that Sora hadn't complained about any pain yet, so that was good.

 

Once he was fully upright, Sora gave Roxas another nod and released his hand. As if on cue, though, his shoulder started to ache again. It was then that he realized that he had landed on it when he fainted...That would explain the pain, he pondered to himself, making a face without thought.

Namine noticed a slight change in Sora's expression, which made her smile from earlier fade away. What did that look mean? She couldn't quite interpret it...

 

Kairi stood upright and her eyes were still on Sora when she noticed his expression--one surely of discomfort. "What's wrong?" she asked softly, worry evident in her tone.

Roxas's smile faded completely and he furrowed his eyebrows in puzzlement. He began to wonder if it was Sora's shoulder. He had bluntly pointed out that it was hurting back at the rink, and that was the only injury Roxas knew of...

 

Sora turned to face Kairi, his eyes softening at the concern in her blue orbs. "Landed on my shoulder," he said softly, a weak smile appearing on his lips. The smile was meant to comfort her and let her know that the pain wasn't too extreme, not like it had been earlier.

Namine bit her lip lightly in concern. Sora had injured that shoulder in the battle earlier, and it definitely wasn't a good thing that his fall had triggered more pain.

 

Kairi nodded in recognition, her lips turning up the smallest bit at Sora's smile. She appreciated the gesture, it alone providing her with a little less worry and a bit more comfort. But that didn't mean her concern wasn't there.

Roxas glanced from Kairi back to Sora. "Did you take medicine?" he asked, thinking that could be one of the easiest ways to get rid of the pain. And Sora wasn't showing too much now, even though he was expression a some hurt.

 

Sora turned his head to face Roxas, nodding slightly. "Yeah, I took some earlier," he informed him. And he was sure he wouldn't be able to take some for a while, so until then, he'd just have to deal with the pain the best he could.

Namine frowned slightly. If he couldn't take medicine, then there wasn't much else to do about the aching shoulder. She wished there were, but unfortunately, only medicine would take away the pain.

 

Kairi pressed her lips together as she watched the conversation unfold in front of her. She wished there was more she could to, but it seemed at the moment she couldn't.

"You want an ice pack?" Roxas asked, knowing Sora couldn't take medicine for another few hours. That was the only other solution he could think of other than rest.
