Fast Food Madness: The Epic Return

Namine bit her lip lightly, clasping her hands in front of her. She wished there was something she could do to help, but at that moment, she knew that there was absolutely nothing she could do to help her dear friend.

Sora didn't follow Roxas' wishes at first, and he moved his hand off his shoulder. The second he did though, the pain intensified. A soft his left his lips, his eyes closing tightly as he tried to ignore the throbbing.

 

Roxas looked at Sora for a moment, taking in his friend's pain before he switched his gaze to Kairi. He caught her eye and nodded to her, knowing he was going to need her help to get Sora up on his feet. He moved over on one side of his best friend, carefully moving Sora's arm around his shoulder and slipping his own arm around Sora's back.

Kairi pressed her lips together as she stepped over toward Sora, following Roxas's lead. She squatted down next to Sora and did the same as Roxas did, but with Sora's other side. She felt terrible that he was in trouble and pain, but the best thing for him was to leave this place and get to the comfort of his own home.

 

Sora winced and forced himself to open his eyes, though he didn't need to do that to recognize the two people helping him. Roxas and Kairi. Any other time, he would have argued with his friends supporting him physically, but he was too tired and weak to protest.

 

"On three, Kairi," Roxas instructed, looking over at the girl. "One... Two... Three." He used his legs to help Sora up, knowing that Kairi was helping because not all of Sora's weight was on him. They stood up slowly, however, realizing how much pain Sora was in.

Kairi held onto Sora's arm that was around her shoulders, the girl's other hand set on his back. She supported his weight equally with Roxas, though it was a little tougher for her. Regardless, she was going to help get him home. She cared too much not to help.

 

Sora exhaled a silent breath and looked down at the ground, trying to support his own weight once he was on his own feet. He didn't want them to have to help him walk home. In a way, he was hoping he could skateboard home, since the board was still there. But it was starting to dawn on him that he was hardly in a condition to walk, let alone ride a skateboard.

Namine bit her lip lightly, watching things from about two steps away. She did feel a bit useless in this situation, but as long as Sora was taken care of, it didn't matter how she felt. The concern for her friend naturally came before anything else at that moment.

 

Roxas looked ahead of him at Namine and smiled weakly, nodding. "Let's go," he said, ready to get out of this place. It was giving him chills a little bit, not the least bit surprised this place was abandoned.

Kairi looked at Sora, a few questions coming to mind. Why didn't he contact her? How did he get here? And when? But she realized that those questions weren't appropriate right now, so she would ask them later.

 

"I can walk," Sora protested, frowning slightly. He realized that he probably couldn't, but still, he was uneasy about going home this way. It was...embarrassing. That was the last thing he should have been worried about at that moment, but that's how he felt.

Namine bit her lip lightly at Sora. He certainly didn't look like he could walk, and if she had been in Kairi or Roxas' positions, she probably would have ignored the statement. After all, Sora was hurt and weak, and she was sure the walk home was still going to be hard even with Roxas and Kairi helping him.

 

Roxas was about to take a step forward, but at the statement he turned to look at Sora. He shook his head. "No, you can't," he argued quietly, but his voice was a little firm. Sora could hardly get up, so certainly he couldn't walk.

Kairi bit her lip. As much as she agreed with Roxas, she could tell Sora wanted it otherwise. She stayed where she was, holding him up just as Roxas was.

 

Sora turned his head a little toward Roxas, a frown appearing on his lips. His eyes showed some frustration before he turned forward again, his head lowering as he looked at the ground. Fine. If that's how things were going to be, then he just wanted to leave. Right away.

 

Roxas stared at his friend for a moment but then looked across him, at Kairi. He nodded to her and the two started walking, bringing Sora with them. Of course they traveled at a steady pace, for Sora's sake.

 

Since the others were naturally closer to the door, Namine followed behind them. She was glad to be leaving this place, and she was sure that her friends felt the exact same way.

 

Kairi bit her lip in nervousness as they moved toward the door, the girl looking down at her feet a little. She didn't want to make this rough on Sora, afraid she would hurt him even more. Even so, she continued to move at the speed Roxas led, believing he had more knowledge on how to handle this than she did.

 

Sora was fine at the steady pace Kairi and Roxas were leading him at. Surprisingly, it was neither too fast nor too slow. Of course, if he had a choice, he would tell them to go faster just so he could get to a point where he could sit again, but his body couldn't handle more speed. He sadly understood that, and that was what kept him from speaking his thoughts aloud.

 

A little while later...

Roxas cut across the yard, still helping Sora walk. Kairi was on the other side, holding up pretty well on her side. His house was just a few feet ahead, and once they were in the door, they could let Sora sit down. It had been a pretty long trip home, but it didn't really matter how long the duration was. It was just important that they even got to his house.

 

Though he was still in pain, Sora had grown used to the throbbing during the long walk to Roxas' house. Now though, he could feel himself depending on Kairi and Roxas completely. His feet dragged, and no matter how much he wanted to walk on his own, his body wouldn't comply at all. He was so weak, it was a wonder he was still conscious.

 

Roxas adjusted his grip on Sora a little, shrugging his shoulders in order to boost his friend up a little bit. There was more weight on him now, but that didn't surprise him. Sora appeared exhausted during the fight, and the aftermath surely wasn't the best for him either. "Namine?" Roxas called gently, looking over his shoulder a little. "Could you get the door, please?"

Kairi held onto Sora's wrist and had a hold of his belt with the other hand, the grip helping to keep him supported on her side. "Almost there," she whispered to him softly just as Roxas requested something from Namine. She hated seeing him so vulnerable, but she supposed it was destined.

 

Namine looked up and met Roxas' gaze, his request entering her ears. She nodded wordlessly and moved past her three friends to the front door. As she suspected, it was unlocked. She pulled it open and held it open, standing out of the way, her eyes wandering to her boyfriend and her best friends.

Sora nodded wordlessly at Kairi's soft-spoken words, the brunet opening his eyes a little bit as he forced himself to lift his head. Sure enough, they were in front of Roxas' house. He thought the walk home hadn't been in the right direction to get to his own house, and now he realized that it was because Roxas led them to his place.

 

Roxas smiled gratefully at the girl he loved as he and Kairi approached the door with Sora, stepping carefully as to not hurt his best friend. Once they were inside, Roxas directed Kairi toward the living room and he walked with her toward the couch. "Easy now," he instructed, the boy and the redhead slowly lowering their friend to the sofa.

 

Sora felt new pains course through his body when he bent his knees to sit down. He felt the urge to let out a hiss, but he composed himself and slowly released a breath, his eyes shutting as he tried to tune out the pain.

The smile Namine had returned to Roxas' faded as she shut the door behind her friends. Right after that was done, she headed to the living room and stood by, watching as Sora was sat down on the couch.

 

Roxas slowly bent out of the hold he'd had on Sora, releasing his friend once he was sitting on the couch. He straightened and watched as Kairi did the same. He caught her eye and nodded to her; she had done a good job, though she looked kind of tired now. But he had to admit that he was too--after the little-to-no fight he had and the long walk home.

Kairi smiled slightly at Roxas before her eyes fell to the boy she loved, that smile turning weak. She wished there was something she could do for him, but she wasn't sure what. The only thing that she could do was be by his side, and that was something she felt from the heart, which meant that was where she was to be.
