Fast Food Madness: The Epic Return

Johnis furrowed his brows and gripped his blade tightly. "It doesn't matter," he said evenly. His research apparently hadn't been in depth nearly enough, and he was mentally scolding himself now. But every moment he spent talking was a moment he regained some energy. Maybe he could still fulfill his duty... He gripped his blade more tightly and charged at Roxas, a battle cry leaving his lips.

Namine looked over at Kairi, understanding what she was trying to do. She nodded faintly, seeing now that the man was completely distracted and uncaring about the girls.

 

Roxas readied his feet, gritting his teeth together as he watched the man run toward him. He then rushed forward, gripping his Keyblades tightly as the growl in his throat grew into a harsh battle cry.

The sounds of the cries sent chills up Kairi's spine but she went ahead and did what she wanted to, knowing that the man was completely distracted. She ran around the battle, rushing over to where Sora was currently lying, unconscious.

 

Johnis swung his mysterious blade at Roxas, immediately feeling some strength leave him. He didn't think he could do this anymore; Sora had already had him on the brink of death...

Namine ran after Kairi, keeping an eye on the battle while she did. She knew Roxas wouldn't allow things to come over in their direction, but still, battles weren't predictable. So she kept a careful eye on things, in case things got too close to them.

 

Roxas brought up his blades, criss-crossing them in order to completely block the attack forced at him. He grunted at the impact, but his feet were firmly in place, so he didn't slip nor did his knees buckle under the pressure.

Kairi heard the clash of blades, but ignored them, approaching Sora quickly. She stopped and knelt down next to him, her eyes full of extreme concern and sadness at his appearance and situation.

 

Johnis grunted and pulled back his weapon, trying the same attack several times but failing with each one. His blade bounced off Roxas', leaving him vulnerable for a moment.

Namine stopped right by Sora and Kairi, her soft blue eyes landing on her unconscious friend. But she couldn't stand seeing him in such a state, so she decided it would be better to keep an eye on Roxas, who she was greatly concerned about.

 

While Johnis had been trying to attack, Roxas noticed how weak his hits were to his blades, and how vulnerable he was at the moment. Roxas decided to take advantage of it, pulling back both of his blades and readying his feet. He charged forward, slashing both of his blades through Johnis as he went past him, the Keyblade wielder turning around as he skidded to a stop, hurling Oblivion at the man from behind.

Kairi's hands hovered above Sora's form, the girl not wanting to hurt him if she touched him. But she couldn't help but lay a hand on his shoulder as she looked at his face. "Sora? Sora, can you hear me?" she called verbally, her voice gentle and caring, but still expressing her concern.

 

Johnis released a cry at both hits and fell to one knee, his back to Roxas. He wasn't extremely injured...just very tired. And that was going to be the death of him, since there was no way he could defend himself when he was so weak.

Namine bit her lip lightly, looking back at Kairi and Sora. Sora didn't show any signs that he heard Kairi, which made the blond feel a pang of sadness. Was he going to be alright...?

 

Roxas didn't summon Oblivion back immediately. Instead, he charged forward again, but right before he reached Johnis, he leaped into the air and readied Oathkeeper. He summoned Oblivion at the last possible moment and brought both Keyblades down on the man as he came crashing down to the floor with force, a battle cry leaving his lips.

Kairi bit her lip when he didn't respond, looking up at Namine. "Namine, can you help me turn him over?" she asked softly, fear evident in her voice as she gazed up at her best friend.

 

Johnis gasped at the pain, holding onto his chest with both hands after he summoned away his blade. Everything around him faded and then turned to black, all pain and sensory leaving him as he fell face-first onto the hard ground.

Namine looked over at Kairi, nodding wordlessly. Since she was already closer to Sora's feet, she gently held onto Sora's legs, starting to turn him over with Kairi's help.

 

Roxas heaved with heavy breaths from the battle, crouched down still as he lifted his head to glare angrily at Johnis. He knew the man was dead, his blade gone and his body still and lifeless. He slowly stood up, his eyes showing his hatred for the man he barely knew. He didn't need to know him to understand his evil intentions, though.

Kairi turned Sora over slowly and carefully with her friend's help, grateful for it though she didn't show it at the moment. Kairi got a better look at Sora's face now that he was lying on his back, and she pressed her lips together at the sight. Even when he was unconscious like this, he appeared the same way he had moments ago--vulnerable and fragile, something she had never witnessed before. Kairi felt her eyes begin to sting from tears from the knowledge and sight of the boy before her.

 

Namine bit her lip lightly, glancing up at Sora's face before her eyes darted to the ground. She felt so bad for him...he didn't look good at all. That battle must have been very hard on him, since he was still unconscious for a few minutes now.

 

Roxas stood up straight and turned around to where Sora was. He saw his friends and his eyes instantly softened, the boy summoning away his Keyblades and running over to where his best friend lied unconscious.

Kairi took in a breath as she lightly lifted Sora's head and placed it in her lap. Sweat covered his forehead and cuts covered his form from battle, and the sight hurt her to see. She put a hand on the top of his head, her fingers getting buried in his spiky hair. "Sora...?" she called softly, her concerned eyes gazing down at him.

 

Sora's heart skipped a beat at the soft calling of his name, and the light touch. He took in a breath, trying to come out of this state of unconsciousness. It was too fast for his body, though, so he didn't show any physical signs of coming out of it just yet.

 

Roxas slowed down when he grew closer to his friends, coming to a halt and squatting down next to Namine and his best friend, who was still not awake. Even Kairi's calls weren't waking him...

"Sora, please wake up," Kairi softly begged, one of her small hands cupping his face. His eyelids were closed over his eyes, and that's all she wanted to see--she just wanted to see those bright blue orbs she loved so much. The fact that he wasn't responding made the longing for that wish stronger, and she felt herself tearing up a little more.

 

Namine looked over at Roxas when he came, and she noticed that he wasn't hurt in the battle. Still though, Sora wasn't any better than he had been when he had first been knocked out. She bit her lip lightly, her eyes overflowing with concern.

Sora furrowed his brows slightly, feeling the hand on his cheek. He wanted to do what Kairi asked of him, he really did, but his body wasn't cooperating. Just a minute...he thought weakly, gathering his strength.

 

Roxas saw the small reaction out of his friend and looked up at Kairi with his blue eyes. She had gotten something out of him. Maybe she could get a little more. He let his eyes fall back on his friend, his eyes showing his concern for his Somebody.

Kairi let her thumb rub over Sora's cheek at the small action, feeling a tear on the corner of her eye at the sight of him. He looked like he had gone through so much pain in battle. "Sora..." she called again, her voice fading slightly from worry. He was with her...somewhere.

 

Sora heard the voice more softly, and he felt a bit of panic, thinking he was losing the small grip he had on consciousness. He exhaled a breath, focusing that much harder on waking up.

 

Kairi smiled slightly at warmth in her heart; a memory triggered, an oath Sora swore to keep. "Hey," she said softly, pulling the hand on his cheek back and using the other to run through his spikes. "You promised me you wouldn't leave me... You said everything would be alright." She smiled weakly as she looked down on the boy she loved. "Don't break those promises today... Please, Sora." The words were not only recited verbally, but she could feel them transfer from her heart as well.

 

Sora winced at the words, the thought of breaking a promise to Kairi making his heart ache. His facial expression slowly started to change, the vulnerability fading away as he finally started coming out of it. He needed one more minute; that was it.

Namine blinked twice and brought a hand to her mouth, the blond saddened by what was going on. But she was a bit more hopeful that Sora winced; it wasn't a good sign, but it did show that he was starting to wake up.

 

Kairi's hand stopped running through Sora's hair when he winced, and she used her free hand to grab hold of his closest to her. "Come back to me, Sora," she encouraged softly. "Just like you did before." She thought of their previous adventure, and how her charm had brought him back to her. But she didn't need the charm, because their hearts were stronger, and had a solid bond.

Roxas watched the scene before him in complete silence. Kairi didn't seem to mind if he and Namine were there, the girl speaking her heart before them. He rested his elbows on his knees, his hands directed toward each other as he remained squatted on his feet, his eyes on his best friend.
