Fast Food Madness: The Epic Return

Sora reopened his eyes, hearing Kairi call to him. "He just called," he informed her softly. "He believed that the break-up was legit." That was one thing they could be thankful for. Now maybe this man would keep his friends out of it completely.

 

Kairi sighed in relief, both when he responded and with the news. "Good," she said, both verbally and through her heart. She looked to her friends and informed them of the news. "He believed us. He really thinks we broke up."

Roxas nodded, somewhat happy to hear that. He was glad because it meant that Kairi was safe, but it was also bad because, if he was correct, Sora would have to follow through with more of this guy's requests.

 

Namine smiled softly, glad because Sora had responded and because there was no immediate threat to either of her two closest friends.

"I'm also positive now that I'm the one he's watching,"Sora added, remembering how he had said Sora had done a good job with the breakup. The brunet was greatly reassured by the discovery he had pieced together. He would still expect Roxas to keep a close eye on Kairi, but still, now that there was less or no danger for Kairi, he felt much better.

 

"So what are you going to do?" Kairi asked silently, focusing on this conversation. Her eyes were trained on a picture hanging on Roxas's wall, but she wasn't really seeing it.

Roxas exhaled softly, watching Kairi with attentive eyes. He glanced over at Namine after a few seconds, thankful that she wasn't in danger. Things seemed to be revolved around Sora and Riku for the moment. That wasn't good to him, but at least it wasn't Namine.

 

"I guess I'll just wait," Sora said softly, both verbally and silently. "What other choice do I have?" If he even tried to contact anyone, then the man would possibly be angered and hurt Riku. And that was the last thing Sora would allow.

Namine's smile had faded away quickly and she looked to the ground, not wanting to stare at Kairi while her friend was so busy focusing. She felt so bad for her friends...They all really did have the worst luck, didn't they?

 

"Alright..." Kairi said to Sora softly, nibbling on her lip again. She felt terrible that he had to go through this alone, but there was no other choice.

Roxas took in a soft breath and released it in the silence. He wasn't sure what was running through Kairi's head, or heart for that matter, but she would tell them what they needed to know soon enough.

 

"It'll be alright," Sora assured her, feeling the concern in her heart. Somehow, he knew that things would turn out okay. They always had in the past, so why would this time be any exception?

Namine folded her hands in front of her, her soft blue eyes staying on the ground. She really hoped Riku was alright; he was one of the few guys she trusted with her life. He was a great friend, even if she only saw him on a few occasions.

 

Kairi nodded despite that Sora couldn't see her. "I believe you," she admitted. "Just...please be careful." She couldn't see him again, and she wasn't sure for how long. A few days, she was sure, but couldn't that change into a week? Maybe longer?

Roxas glanced behind him, making sure he really did lock the door earlier. By the way things were going, being safe was a number one priority here. They couldn't take any chances, even if they may not have been the ones in danger.

 

"I will," Sora assured her, feeling the urge to smile a bit to reassure her that he was speaking the truth. But because she couldn't see him, his lips stayed in a frown.

 

Kairi felt herself smile somewhat, her eyes falling to the ground. Warmth spread from her heart, which meant she really believed him, knowing he would be brave and have the courage to get through this.

 

"I'm sure this won't go on too long," Sora told Kairi reassuringly, the teen putting together some facts in his mind. The man had seemed impatient on the phone, so the brunet doubt the villain would have the patience to let things sit idling for long.

 

"I hope not," Kairi replied softly. "Riku doesn't deserve this, and neither do you." Poor Riku. He had been gone for a while, and they hadn't talked to him lately. But that didn't mean they still didn't care.

 

"Riku's a fighter," Sora said, both for his benefit and for Kairi's. "He'll be alright." That was what he hoped, but truthfully, he was worried about his friend. This guy who kidnapped his friend must have been pretty strong, since Riku wasn't one to go down easily.

 

"You're right," Kairi agreed. He really was correct on that; Riku always was very strong and didn't back down. There was no doubt that he would be alright.

 

Sora exhaled a silent breath and gazed down at the floor, hands folded in front of him. Riku, just hold on, he thought sadly. If he had any say in the matter, which apparently he did, then Riku would be alright. He just had to give into the orders of a madman...that was all.

 

Kairi blinked, looking back up at her two blonde friends. "Everything will be alright," she said softly, finding a new hope inside her. She guessed it came from the realization about Riku Sora had put in her mind, and Sora himself.

Roxas saw the small smile on Kairi's face and nodded, one of his own appearing. He was sure she was right. Even if he didn't like the fact that Sora had to do this practically by himself, he believed he could handle it.

 

Namine felt reassured by Kairi's optimism, and that in turn put a small smile on her lips. If Kairi was sure that things would be alright, then so was Namine. She trusted Kairi's instincts; her friend had always had a good sense of the situations around her.

 

Kairi kept her smile on her face as she looked at her friends. She knew that they believed her by the looks on their faces, which was definitely a good thing. She didn't want them to have to worry either. As of now, she was to spend the next few days with them, and Roxas was to watch over her in Sora's place. She prayed that her boyfriend would be safe, but he promised her. And she believed he would keep that promise.

 

Four days later...

It was the fourth day after receiving the phone call from the stranger that was trying Sora's patience. It was mid-morning now, and, as he had been doing for the past few days, he was alone and staring aimlessly at the television. He hadn't gotten any new phone calls, and that made him nervous. What if he was wrong about all this, and it was all just an elaborate prank?

 

Kairi was in the kitchen finishing up some breakfast. She was home alone, her parents having left for work earlier that morning. They hadn't asked questions about why she left a few nights before, and she appreciated that they gave her space. But she'd been hanging out with Namine and Roxas lately, just like she was instructed. Nothing had happened, and she kept in contact with Sora over the past few days--using their hearts, of course. They couldn't risk actually communicating, in fear of Riku's sake.
