Fast Food Madness: The Epic Return

Sora smiled softly, making his hold around Kairi turn a bit more gentle, since there would be no more tickling. "I wouldn't say that," he said soothingly, referring to the end of the food fight. Kairi had definitely gotten in the last laugh when he got the whole bowl of dough in his hair.

 

Kairi exhaled softly, her eyes closed as her forehead continued to rest against Sora's shoulder. "But you have," she said. "You won the food fight and the tickle war. I surrendered." She giggled a little bit at the thought of what they'd done for the last hour. She hadn't expected it, really.

 

Sora smiled softly and moved his hand off of Kairi's side, placing it lightly against the back of her head instead. He felt some of the goo go against his hand, but he ignored it. "You're not the one who had a clumsy moment and got a bowl full of cookie dough on your head, though," he reminded her softly, a chuckle leaving his lips.

 

Kairi giggled softly, agreeing with that. "Yeah, that's true," she admitted. "But it was still cute." Sora was dressed in a blue apron, covered in food ingredients, was on the floor, and had a bowl on top of his head. How is that not cute? Kairi smiled to herself at the picture in her mind, finding it amusing.

 

"I'm just glad you didn't have a camera on you," Sora confessed, a few chuckles leaving his lips. He knew that, like his embarrassing picture of Roxas, the picture of him on the floor covered in cookie dough would have always haunted him.

 

Kairi laughed softly, turning her head toward Sora so her face was against his neck. "Aw, that would have been an adorable picture, though!" she cooed, smiling. Of course she would have shown it to Namine, who would be with Roxas. That probably wouldn't have ended well, especially for Sora. So yeah, it probably was a good thing she didn't have a camera.

 

Sora chuckled softly, shaking his head. "No way," he repeated. Adorable or not, he definitely didn't want something like that being shown around to a lot of people, especially not Roxas, who would have found a way to get his hands on it.

 

Kairi's smile grew a little. "Well, you have nothing to worry about," she assured him, closing her eyes again. She felt disgusting, but at the same time comforted in Sora's embrace.

 

Sora smiled softly and took his hand off the back of Kairi's head, lightly setting it against her upper back. "We should really clean up," he insisted gently, now feeling like the responsible one. He was the one who had created the most mess, so he wouldn't feel right until it was all clean again.

 

Kairi nodded against Sora's neck. "Yeah...we should," she agreed, remembering the mess her kitchen was now. And her parent's were going to be home soon. It was probably a good idea to clean up a little...

 

Sora smiled softly and gently released Kairi, the brunet lightly withdrawing from the hug. Of course he didn't want to let go, but it was something that needed to be done. After all, he doubt that Kairi's parents would want to come home and see that this had occurred in their house.

 

Kairi pulled away from the embrace gently, her eyes looking to Sora before darting behind him. She really did have some cleaning up to do...

 

Sora smiled gently at Kairi, catching the look in her eye. "Let's get started."

A few days later...

A few days after the food fight, Sora was just returning home from a fun day with Kairi, Roxas, and Namine. They had spent the day in the park, throwing Frisbee and having piggy-back ride races (which ended up tied this time). Sora sat himself down on the couch and looked out the window at the setting sun, a few chuckles leaving his lips. It had been such a fun day...

 

Kairi rested in her room, lying on her bed as she looked over pictures in a photo album she had created. She flipped through the photos, finding that most of them were of her friends. Her family, though they were finally home with her again, wasn't very much included, give or take a few pictures from Christmas or Thanksgiving. But looking over the pictures of Roxas, Namine, Sora, and herself, Kairi was reminded of how much fun they had together, just like today.

 

At that moment, Sora felt his cell phone vibrate in his pocket. He pulled it out and flipped it open, not recognizing the phone number. He shrugged and put it to his ear anyway, figuring he'd know who was calling in a few moments. "Hello?"

"Do you want to see Riku?"

Sora blinked in surprise, both at the name and the creepy voice on the other side of the line. "Excuse me?" he asked in confusion.

"I'm holding him hostage," the raspy voice responded. "I know who he is, and I know he's a Keyblade master of the Realm of Darkness." He paused, as if expecting Sora to say something. But when he didn't, he continued. "If you want to see him alive, you'll do what I say."

Sora swallowed hard, all his joy from earlier forgotten. Riku...That man must have had him, because nobody else would know who he was or about the errands he was doing across the worlds. "What do you want?" Sora asked somberly, the teen gazing blankly in front of him.

 

Kairi continued flipping through the picture of the album, seeing many that took place at the park. That had been everybody's favorite spot, and it could pretty much be called their sanctuary. They always went there for breathers or to catch a little sun. The park was always fun, whether they played frisbee, tag, or had races--just like they did today. Kairi smiled at the pictures, memories savored. She had the best of friends.

 

"You must break up with your girlfriend."

"What?!" Sora hissed in surprise, clenching his free hand into a fist. He couldn't do that--it would break both his and Kairi's hearts. Especially hers, because she wouldn't know what was going on...

"You heard me," he said coolly. "Call her up and do it now; you have to separate yourself from those around you."

"I..." Sora trailed off, his whine silencing. Anything he said could have been used as an excuse to hurt Riku, and he couldn't do that. But, Kairi...

"Do it now or he dies. Call her."

"W-wait!" Sora cried, but he was answered by a beeping on the other side. The man had hung up on him. The brunet threw his phone down on the couch beside him and curled his hands into light fists. I need to think this through before I can do anything...

 

Kairi found herself laughing at a picture of Sora and Roxas at the park. Something must have happened between the two competitors, because Roxas had Sora in a headlock, and he was laughing while Sora tried to get out of it. Kairi was briefly reminded of the day they showed up on her doorstep after their shopping trip, being in the same position.

 

Sora sighed and shook his head, furrowing his eyebrows tightly. For now, he had no choice but to obey the mysterious man. Riku's life was on the line; he couldn't take chances by not following orders. If he could make Kairi understand somehow...An idea suddenly came to mind and he picked up his phone, scrolling through his contacts.

 

Kairi sighed and silently shut the photo album, leaning over and gently setting it down on her bedside table. She wasn't sure what she was going to do now. It wasn't that late, but she was kind of tired. Maybe going to bed wasn't such a bad idea...
