Fast Food Madness: The Epic Return

Sora smiled sheepishly at Kairi's response, a few chuckles leaving his lips as he headed over toward the trash can. "I'm surprised you'd let me try again," he said in a teasing voice, speaking over his shoulder. It was no secret that Kairi was a bit of a perfectionist; if he got it wrong the first time, what was going to stop him from doing it badly the second time?

 

"Hey, I'm all for second chances," Kairi pointed out with a smile. "You should know that." She kept her eyes on Sora for a second, but then returned her focus to the bowl in front of her.

 

Sora dumped the egg shells into the trash can. "Okay, okay; you got me there," Sora said with a few chuckles. Kairi did give second chances a lot, but he had been unsure if that would transfer to the kitchen or not. Apparently it did, at least for him. He smiled and turned on the sink in front of him, washing away the gooey mess on his hands.

 

Kairi needed the salt now, knowing it was on the opposite counter. She started toward that area, but then she felt herself slide a little. She squealed when she knew she'd lost her balance, slipping and falling to the floor. She landed on her bum, and turned her head when her hand had set right on the thing that had caused her and Sora's conversation: the egg.

 

Sora just finished washing his hands and had a towel in his hands when he heard Kairi's squeal. He turned around at the sound, his eyes wide until he saw what had happened. Instead of feeling overly concerned, he released a few chuckles. "Do I still get a second chance now?" he asked, lightly teasing the redhead on the floor.

 

Kairi looked up at Sora, seeing that he found this amusing. "I'm not so sure anymore," she teased back, her eyes finding her now gooey hand. She lifted it and looked at it in disgust. Gross.

 

Sora took a few steps over and knelt a step away from Kairi, his puppy-dog expression reappearing. "Aww, Kaiwi..." he pouted, sticking out his lower lip to perfect his facial expression.

 

Kairi lifted her eyes but instantly turned her head away. "Nope. You're not pulling that one on me again," she said, feeling a small smile coming on. Even if the feeling on her hand was disgusting, she had to ignore Sora's facial expression first. It had more control over her.

 

"Kairi," Sora said affectionately, keeping his puppy-dog expression on his face. She'd give in and look again soon enough; he was sure of that. It was hard to ignore him, especially since he was right in front of her.

 

"Nope. Not looking!" Kairi said, shaking her head. She lifted her right hand to emphasize her point, which just so happened to be her gooey hand. Sora was right in front of her, and she held up her hand to show him she wasn't going to look.

 

Sora smiled softly and reached out a hand, grabbing onto Kairi's wrist lightly. He felt some egg-goo go onto his hand, which made him hesitate for a brief moment. But then he gently lowered her hand so that he could see her face again, his lower-lip still stuck out and his blue eyes wide.

 

Kairi turned at the touch, making the mistake of looking at Sora's face. "Aww!" she whined, squeezing her eyes shut. "Sora!" This was so unfair!

 

Sora smiled sweetly, unable to keep his pout. "Kai," he said affectionately, still holding her wrist lightly. How much longer would he have to keep this up to get her to look at him again? He wasn't sure, but he could last a lot longer if he needed to.

 

Kairi shook her head. "No more of the puppy-pout! It's too powerful!" she joked, her voice a mix of whining and teasing. She kept her eyes closed, knowing she was going to see those eyes again and instantly melt.

 

Sora brought up his free hand and wiped Kairi's bangs away from her closed eyes, a smile still on his lips. "Alright, the pout is gone," he said, chuckling. But as soon as she opened her eyes, it was sure to return. Hey, he hadn't' said it would be gone permanently.

 

Kairi made a face, but not at the touch. She really did enjoy that. But she peeked one eye open as she bit her lip, hoping he wasn't kidding about the pout.

 

Sora smiled sweetly. "What, you don't believe me?" he asked teasingly, bringing his hand off Kairi's wrist and to his knee as he knelt in front of her. Disbelief calls for some punishment, he thought playfully, his eyes wandering to the flour on the island. I just need a few seconds to get to it...

 

Kairi blinked, this time opening both of her eyes. Since Sora let go of her hand, she wiped it against her apron; she was thankful for it at that moment. "Sora," she said, chuckling a bit. Well, she believed him now, but she had only been teasing. She knew he was as well, but she was unsure of what he was doing now.

 

When Kairi's eyes opened, Sora placed a puppy-dog look on his face again. "You didn't beweive me," he said, pouting. And she had a right to, Sora added mentally. After all, he hadn't been completely honest about the look being gone for good, because obviously it had returned.

 

Kairi's eyes widened and she instantly shook her head. "Because you do things like that!" she whined playfully, beginning to push herself up. She looked away again, not wanting to see Sora's puppy-pout. It was a weakness, most definitely. And surely he knew that.
