Fast Food Madness: The Epic Return

"Only if I behave, right?" Sora lightly teased back, a wide smile on his lips as he poured some sauce over the noodles. He smoothed it out with the scraper, keeping his eyes on his work but keeping his ears open for Kairi's response.

 

"Well of course," Kairi chimed with a sweet smile. "It can be your reward for doing such a fine job in the kitchen today." She was enjoying this moment with him, thinking it was cute and light, in a teasing sort of way. Playful was the word for it.

 

Sora finished his task and set the pan and scraper down before he turned to look back at Kairi. "Does this fulfill your high expectations, ma'am?" he asked, a grin appearing on his face again as he looked down at the food they were preparing.

 

Kairi grinned at the sight of Sora's and the words spoken. "Exceeds them," she told him proudly. He was doing a great job, apart from the little burning mishap. That wasn't his fault, though. Kairi looked down at the pan and grabbed another noodle, beginning the final layer.

 

Sora grinned widely and kept his eyes on the pan, seeing Kairi doing her work now. It was hard to believe their work was almost done; it seemed as if they had just started.

 

It took Kairi only a brief moment to add the final layer, and she stepped back to make room for Sora to finish his task as well. They were almost done with the lasagna for dinner. Then they could bake the cookies. Of course, Kairi was going to offer some sides for tonight's meal, but the food would be cold by that time.

 

Sora picked up the pan and poured on the sauce, doing his thing for the meal. It was a simple enough job, and after doing it two other times, the third was nothing special. He spread the sauce on the top layer like he did the other two and then finished, setting the extra sauce and scraper to the side.

 

Kairi turned around and grabbed the bowl of shredded cheese Sora had taken care of earlier. Coming back to where he was standing, she started to scatter the mozzarella over the top layer of sauce. After a moment, she set it aside, grinning. "Alright, we're done! Now we just need to put it in the oven."

 

"That went by pretty quick," Sora stated with a smile. Time had flown when he was with Kairi today, but that was unfortunately how it normally was for them.

 

"Time flies when you're having fun," Kairi said, looking up and winking at Sora as she grabbed the pan. She smiled softly and opened the oven, feeling the heat coming from inside as she carefully placed the lasagna in. She then shut it all the way, setting the timer for 45 minutes.

 

"It sure does," Sora said in agreement, nodding faintly. Time was a funny thing; it flew when you wanted it to drag on, it lasted forever when you wanted it to hurry, and you never had enough of it. Time was a strange and very valuable thing, that was for sure.

 

Kairi set her hands on her hips, turning to Sora. "I think you're looking forward to our next project," she said with a small smile. "One that requires chocolate chips." The fact that Sora loved chocolate chip cookies reminded her a little of a small child, but that was what she loved about him. He didn't care how young he acted, as long as he was enjoying himself.

 

Sora grinned, placing an astonished expression on his face as he met Kairi's gaze again. "Gee, how'd you guess?" he asked in a light tone of voice, holding back a few laughs.

 

"I just know you so well," Kairi lightly joked back, patting Sora's shoulder as she passed him to get the cookie ingredients. She giggled some as she approached the fridge to grab the eggs.

 

"Ah," Sora responded, a smile on his lips as he turned and watched Kairi gather their materials. He would stand by the side and watch until she needed him, since he had no clue what to do now.

 

"Mhm," Kairi hummed, holding the egg carton in one hand before grabbing some cream butter. She kicked the fridge door lightly to shut it, making her way over to the island, because it had more space. She then traveled to the pantry, grabbing some flour, baking soda, a bag of chocolate chips, brown sugar, and vanilla. She held the items gathered in her arms, making her way back to the island.

 

Sora would have asked if she needed help carrying anythihg, but it appeared to him that she had everything under control. Kairi wasn't a clumsy girl, so he wasn't too concerned over her dropping anything or tripping.

 

Kairi bent her knees slightly as she set things down, careful not to drop anything. "There we go..." she muttered to herself. All the ingredients she needed was right in front of her. "Sora, would you mind grabbing a bowl and spoon for me?" she asked, setting the ingredients up properly.

 

Sora nodded. "Sure," he said, heading over to the cabinets again. He knelt down and grabbed a large bowl out of one of the cupboards and then headed over to a drawer to grab a spoon. Once he had the items requested of him, he headed back over to Kairi and set down the supplies next to the rest of the stuff.

 

Kairi snapped her fingers, forgetting something. "Measuring cup, measuring cup..." she said to herself, looking around for where it could be. She then remembered, wandering over to one side of the kitchen and opening a cabinet, grabbing the item she needed.
