Fast Food Madness: The Epic Return

Sora nodded and lowered his hand back to his side. "Yeah, definitely," he said in agreement. Brothers seemed like an understatement to him; nobody could fully comprehend the bond they had, not even himself or Roxas. It was too great for words to describe, so he just accepted it without question.

 

"I guess Namine and I have a similar bond," Kairi mused aloud, her eyes remaining on the outside world. It was odd, to think that she had somebody that was so much alike, yet so different from her. That person came from her heart, so she supposed that was the reason. But somehow, she felt it was more than that.

 

Sora caught onto Kairi's gaze and turned himself, facing the window now. He heard her words and his smile softened in agreement. "You do," he said softly, understanding where she was coming from.

 

Kairi continued pondering over the creation of Nobodies, two of them being her best friends. They were so close, and because of that, they never thought over the details on who they were as people. "Do you ever think about it?" Kairi asked suddenly, her voice soft in wonder. Her gaze was fixed on the leaves blowing in the gentle breeze outside, the rustling of the leaves coming through the window.

 

Sora shook his head slightly, keeping his eyes on the window. "No," he replied softly. "No, I never think about it. I know...that I'll never be able to fully comprehend everything, so I hold onto the small bits I can grasp and just trust that everything is the way it should be." Wow, that's deep, he thought, a small smile forming on his lips as he gazed out the window. It was unlike him to talk so seriously about something, but despite what some people thought of him, he actually was very intelligent.

 

"Mmm," Kairi hummed in agreement, a small nod accomanying her reply. What Sora said got her thinking, but she knew he was right. It must have come from the heart, because Sora said the sincerest and deepest thing whenever it came from deep inside. She smiled slightly, proud of his way of thinking. That was one of the things she admired about him. Even though he didn't have all the answers, he was happy with what little he knew.

 

Sora stuck one hand in his jean pocket, his eyes not leaving the window. Because of his deep thoughts, he sometimes felt as if he were older than fifteen, but younger too. That was something else he tried not to dwell on; after all, age was just a number. Why give it the right to govern what he could or couldn't comprehend? Or feel, for that matter. People said it was irrational and impossible to fall in love at such a young age, but he knew they were wrong. They couldn't have been more wrong about that, actually.

 

The breeze blew in through the kitchen window, moving the tips of Kairi's hair slightly. She closed her eyes at the feeling, enjoying the moment among her and Sora. She loved times like these, where the peace was evident and nothing could ruin it. It was perfect, and it made her feel like nothing could tear her down. Of course, she knew that when Sora was with her, nothing could ever break her. And that was all the time--he was in her heart, forever.

 

People often mocked Sora for his naive emotions and apparent lack of understanding of the world. But he had never given in to them; he had never chosen to believe that he was too immature to fall in love. True, he had been a bit too young to understand just how greatly love transformed a person, but now he was willing to change anything about himself for Kairi. And she felt the same way for him, too. Love exists in the strangest places, he thought, feeling a cool wind blow through his spikes. A Keyblade wielder and a Princess...who would have thought that was possible?

 

Kairi heard herself laugh softly, but she wasn't sure why. She guessed it was because of the feeling she had inside. She felt loved, peaceful, happy, and blessed for the life she had. Yes, there were hard times along the way, but who didn't encounter those throughout their lifetime? It was natural, but so was the relationship not only between her and Sora, but between the two of them and Roxas and Namine too. It was a special bond, in more ways than one. Kairi believed she was lucky--she had the best friends she could ask for, a lovely home, and an amazing guy who loved her just as much as she loved him. It was an amazing feeling, and she never wanted it to go away.

 

Sora turned his head at the sound, his small smile widening slightly at Kairi's expression. He knew by the look on her face that she didn't find anything amusing; she just laughed because she needed to release a bit of joy. He felt the same way, so he turned back to the window, a few soft chuckles leaving his lips.

 

Kairi's eyes opened at the sound, the girl believing it to be music to her young ears. She turned her head in Sora's direction, her hands still clasped behind her back. She saw his expression, both on his face and in those bright blue eyes of his. He was happy too, she could tell. And that was a wonderful thing to know.

 

Sora crossed his arms over his chest, his eyes staying on the window. Just like the seasons changed outside, so did he. He was growing up, and so was Kairi. And so were Roxas and Namine, for that matter. They were all becoming more mature and wise as the years went by, and from the wisdom he had gained, Sora knew that one thing would never fade or disappear over time; True love.

 

Kairi found herself smiling again, and she looked down at the floor. After all that had happened to them, they still had their optimism. It had been with them all this time, because it was hard to let go of. Especially with Sora around. He was the most optimistic person Kairi had ever known.

 

Sora had much to learn in life, but that didn't change what he knew for certain. One was that he knew his place as a Keyblade wielder; he had to protect peace and protect those he cared about. Second was that he knew that life was far too short to do anything but live fully. That had been a hard lesson to learn, but it was almost as valuable as his last lesson. Three...true love, the love that he and Kairi had, would never die. Of these things he was absolutely certain.

 

Kairi bit her lip to keep herself from grinning. This happiness, it had washed over her out of nowhere. But she was perfectly okay with it. How could she not be happy? Things were perfect these days, and she knew that as she got older, they would only get better. One thing she knew--she was going to have three people by her side. Her closest girl friend, Namine, who was like a sister to her, but closer. And Roxas, a goofball if there ever was one, but somebody she could confide in if need be. Whenever he was with Sora, they always did the silliest things, but they made her laugh, and that was the best thing she could ask for. But then, there was Sora. She didn't know where to begin.

 

Sora blinked and gazed out the window, the silence calming. These days, he was excited to see where life took them. But that was only because he knew who would be at his side for all of life, and that was the girl he loved with all his heart. The girl he always fought for, and the one whose smile made him feel alive. Kairi.

 

Sora... He was such a blessing to her. Kairi couldn't ask for a better guy in her life. He treated her well, guarded her, protected her, and made her feel deeply loved. She knew that all of these things weren't just feelings, but reality. Sora really was the best thing to happen to her, and she couldn't be more grateful. He was so funny, and sweet; kind and wholehearted; open-minded and accepting. It was amazing that she had such a deep connection with him. It was one nobody could replace.

 

Sora silently exhaled a breath, closing his eyes in the quiet stillness of the room. He knew what he knew, and he accepted that he still had a lot to learn. But he knew it would never be something he had to do on his own; he had great friends and a great girlfriend to help him along the way. That was something he was eternally grateful for.

 

Kairi's smile softened as she took in a deep breath, picking up the smell the belonged to the sauce. She supposed this peaceful moment had to end. For her, at least. She was going to let Sora absorb it for a little longer. Kairi pressed her lips together, moving to check the noodles.
